Margaret Cho: PsyCHO

Good show, but weighed down by too much below-the-belt humor...

I think this 2015 comedy special was actually my first introduction to Margaret Cho, or at least I don't recall having seen other shows from her prior to watching "PsyCHO" here late in 2019.

The show was adequately entertaining, and Margaret Cho definitely is funny and feels at home on the stage. However, and yes there is a however here, I just feel that there was too much focus on below-the-belt. I mean, sure that is an easy way of doing comedy, but it is just something that belongs back in the 1990s when stand-up comedy was not as common.

She does have some good jokes and she delivers them quite nicely, and I must admit that her on-screen presence was quite good.

But I was not expecting that much below-the-belt jokes and puns, so that was somewhat of a disappointment for me. But I must say that Margaret Cho is definitely a comedian that I will watch again, because she is talented and I do like her way of delivering jokes and punchlines on the stage.

she isn't as funny as she use to be

Is it me or has Margaret Cho lost her "funny"? It seems to me that over the course of the last few years that she has become less funny and more mainstream.

Before during with her stand up it was more edgy and hard hitting and funny. Most of her comedy from pre 2003 was amazing and insightful. But now it feels like she just gets on stage and drones on for however long she has been booked.

There were parts of this stand up that were funny, but for the most part it was like sitting in a class waiting for the bell to ring.

Through out her career she has undergone many changes, from coming out to weight loss. And before her comedy reflected the funnier aspects of her life, but now is kind of a sad dribble of what she once was. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to watch her stand up routine in hopes of her making me laugh like she once did. But for right now I don't find her all that funny any more.

Flop O'Rama

Please stop telling her she's funny. She's not and it's just sad. Please spare America from this disaster. She can't act, she can't sing and she definitely can't deliver a punch line. Isn't it enough already?

Such a bummer

Margaret Cho used to be so funny and real. Now she's so desperate to be cool and relevant that her shows feel like lectures, or like being cornered by a know it all at a dull house party. Just dreadful.

I experienced physical pain watching it.

A lot of screaming, really bad impersonations it is about as funny as hospital cancer ward. Not only I didn't laugh (assuming the intention of this piece was to make me laugh because honestly couldn't tell) I didn't even smile a single time. But what I did do a lot was cringe. At one point she started talking about great comedians who died and says the word "sad" about 9 times within a minute. Also just because you say V@g1na and p*33y a hundred million times, won't make you funny. How did this get over 6 points on this site is beyond me. I wish this could be unseen. I don't even want to waste any more time on this review because I already wasted time I'll never get back watching it, but there is a minimum of ten lines I have to write.
