Though we have very little to go on, legendary director Sir Ridley Scott has revealed that he is developing a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios.
Details are pretty much non-existent right now, but THR's report indicates that this will be a completely separate project to the Alien: Romulus sequel that's currently in the works.
20th Century's Steve Asbell recently confirmed that director Fede Alvarez is in talks to helm a direct sequel to Romulus that would continue the journey of the survivors of the previous movie, Rain Carradine and her android brother, Andy.
"We’re working on a sequel idea now. We haven’t quite closed our deal with Fede [Alvarez], but we are going to, and he has an idea that we’re working on. The two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were real highlights of the film. And so I always think of it like,...

Mariah Carey is often regarded as one of the greatest singers of all time and her star status reached pinnacles in the ‘90s. Carey became the first singer ever to have her first five singles top the Billboard Top 100 charts and has been celebrated as one of the most successful artists of all time.
Carey’s off-screen personality has also made headlines, with her diva persona being one of the most talked-about things in her career. She reportedly had a feud in the late ‘90s with star Cameron Diaz who had allegedly called Carey’s music torture. However, all seems to have been good between the starlets now.

If you were to find entire dinette sets, automobiles and living rooms — with people sitting in them — tumbling Earthward from the clouds, you might think “Okay, so End Times really are a thing.” But it could also be the handiwork of “Space Cowboy” subject Joe Jennings, a “freefall cinematographer” who’s made a specialty of devising and filming such surreal stunts. Coming a decade after Marah Strauch’s first feature “Sunshine Superman,” about Base jumping pioneer Carl Boenish (also an aerial cameraman), this new doc provides a thematically and stylistically overlapping companion piece.
Co-directed with Bryce Leavitt, it’s not quite so exhilarating or moving as its predecessor, perhaps because the central personality isn’t larger-than-life this time around. Still, one can hardly complain, as the pleasantly low-key Jennings earns his living doing activities that make the jaw drop — and they’re all onscreen here. Gladiator was nominated for a number of Oscars, winning quite a few in the process. The Ridley Scott swords-and-sandals epic, which starred Russell Crowe as Maximus, premiered in 2000 and instantly became a hit with both critics and audiences. At the time of writing, more than 250 different critics' reviews have been compiled to earn it a Certified Fresh score of 80% on the review aggregator platform Rotten Tomatoes. More than 250,000 audience members have also rated it, giving it an even more favorable score of 87%.
The movie was also a commercial success, which led to it spawning the 2024 sequel Gladiator II. Although it cost a whopping $100 million ($183.8 million when adjusted for inflation), it grossed $4565.4 million worldwide ($855.63 million when adjusted for inflation). This made it the second highest-grossing release of 2000, falling behind only the Tom Cruise-led sequel Mission: Impossible II, which earned $546.4 million against a $125 million budget. Variety has just published an article on "Power Women of Hollywood 2024," a list of actors, writers, directors, producers and more who are making an impact in the entertainment industry. Three people who work on HBO's House of the Dragon made the list. First there's Geeta Patel, who directed great episodes like "The Lord of the Tides."
And then there's Olivia Cooke and Emma D'Arcy, who play Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen respectively. Cooke had some interesting things to say about the depiction of female characters on TV and in movies. “Stop using the word ‘strong’ to describe female characters. It’s so reductive and patronizing,” she said. “A breakthrough for female character development would be for the industry to accept that people come with baggage and flaws, are imperfect and ugly and exciting and soft, and all the things in between. That we’re not preternaturally youthful and that sex...

Alien: Romulus Director Fede Álvarez In Talks To Helm Sequel; New Predator Movie Also In Development
Two classic sci-fi horror franchises were recently given new leases of life, with the Predator returning to hunt his Prey in Dan Trachtenberg's 2022 movie, and the Xenomorphs back to their chest-bursting best in this year's Alien: Romulus.
Both films were critically-acclaimed and very popular with audiences, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn that Disney-owned 20th Century Studios is planning more instalments.
We already knew that a Prey spin-off titled Badlands was in the works, but 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell has now revealed that a "secret" Predator movie will also be with us next year that will also be helmed by Trachtenberg. Badlands will be a theatrical release, but it sounds like this other film will be going straight to streaming.

Back in July, Djimon Hounsou signed on to star in a shark thriller called Beneath the Storm alongside Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) and Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), with Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night) writing and directing for Sony Pictures and producers Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of HyperObject Industries. While we wait to hear more information about that project, Hounsou is already moving on to another interesting film, one called The Monster. Deadline reports that Darren Lynn Bousman will be directing the film from a screenplay by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, the writers of Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane.
The Monster is set to begin filming in Danbury, Connecticut in November. The story follows two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. When Sir Ridley Scott returned to the Alien franchise, it was cause for celebration among fans. Unfortunately, his prequels - Prometheus and Alien: Covenant - were light on action and horror and heavy on deep sci-fi themes...which didn't resonate in quite the way the filmmaker hoped.
Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox saw them gain the rights to the property and we're now getting a new TV series from Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley and a movie, Alien: Romulus, directed by Evil Dead filmmaker Fede Alvarez.
Thanks to SFFGazette.com, we have a new teaser for Alien: Romulus after the movie was highlighted on an upcoming magazine cover.
The Xenomorphs are finally back and now more terrifying than they have been in a very long time; for those of you wondering, that's Cailee Spaeny's character Rain staring the monster down.
"She’s an amazing talent," Alvarez recently said of the actress.

The upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe movie has been in development hell since 2007. Over the years, many directors, writers, producers, and stars have been attached to the project. Four major stars have circled playing He-Man, ranging from Kellan Lutz to Nicholas Galitzine.
The upcoming Masters of the Universe has seen multiple actors approached to play He-Man before exiting the project. The franchise, which features other iconic characters including She-Ra and King Randor, takes place in a sci-fi-fantasy world known as Eternia, which debuted in a line of Mattel figures with accompanying comics before being adapted into a popular animated show. He-Man, the mantle taken on by Prince Adam, is a character with superstrength (among many other heightened powers) who defends Castle Grayskull from his arch-enemy, Skeletor.

Drew Barrymore is reflecting back on 20th Century Fox’s initial reaction to Never Been Kissed.
The actress-producer and talk-show host was joined by Hey, Dude…The ’90s Called! hosts Christine Taylor and David Lascher on Friday’s Drew Barrymore Show, where she recalled how the rom-com marked a big milestone for the actress, as it was the first project made under her own production company, Flower Films.
With her venture behind the camera while also being the film’s star, there was a lot of pressure on Barrymore for the film to succeed.
“Never Been Kissed was very interesting because it was our first official film for Flower Films. And at that time, people were very weary of actors being producers,” she explained. “A lot of it wasn’t necessarily working and it didn’t mean because you’re an actor, you knew how to produce a film and it was about the economics.

And at that time, people were very weary of actors being producers,” she explained. “A lot of it wasn’t necessarily working and it didn’t mean because you’re an actor, you knew how to produce a film and it was about the economics.

Van Partible's animated series "Johnny Bravo" debuted on the Cartoon Network on July 14, 1997. It was one of four new shows that Cartoon Network premiered in 1997 and 1998 that served as a declaration for a new creator-forward direction the network was taking. "Johnny Bravo" debuted alongside Genndy Tartakovsky's "Dexter's Laboratory," David Feiss' "Cow and Chicken," and Craig McCracken's "The Powerpuff Girls." In 1999, that lineup would be complemented by "Ed, Edd n Eddy," and "Courage the Cowardly Dog." These shows were all quirky and idiosyncratic and attracted a generation of fans.
"Johnny Bravo" was about a barrel-chested, Elvis-voiced lug who lived with his mother and attempted to find love in the big city. His buffoonery and vanity, however, usually kept him single. Johnny was played by prolific voice actor Jeff Bennett, who has been acting professionally since 1991. Van Partible had been working on a version of the show as early...

Cameron Diaz's upcoming Netflix movie, "Back in Action," has the potential to redeem her poor reviews from her last spy movie, "Knight and Day." Diaz's previous movies, such as "The Counselor," "The Other Woman," "Sex Tape," and "Annie," underperformed with critics, showing that her projects struggled in multiple genres. Diaz's earlier spy franchise, "Charlie's Angels," was a major box office success, showcasing her skillful balance of comedy and action that will benefit "Back in Action."
While Cameron Diaz hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 2014, her upcoming Netflix movie can make up for an infamous flop that co-starred Tom Cruise. Cameron Diaz has one of the most impressive blockbuster careers in modern cinema history. Created by writer and producer Bob Brunner, Happy Days was an unparalleled family sitcom that defined the early 70s. In company with TV shows like M*A*S*H (1972), The Jeffersons (1975), and Charlie's Angels (1976), Happy Days became one of the most iconic and successful television series of its time, which followed the simple story of high school student Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) and his family and friends as they navigate coming of age misadventures in an idealized 1950s Milwaukee, Wisconsin. But even though the ABC comedy is part of American pop culture history, there are episodes fans don’t necessarily agree with — one being the very first episode!

Lucy Liu doesn't believe there's a place for a legacy sequel to Charlie's Angels due to changing times and attitudes. McG, the director of the original Charlie's Angels films, is open to the possibility of a third movie and would discuss it with the original cast. Drew Barrymore has expressed her willingness to return for another Charlie's Angels film "in a heartbeat" and maintains a close friendship with her former co-stars.
The question of whether the cast of 2000's Charlie's Angels could have one more adventure in them has been getting a lot of discussion recently. While Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and director McG have all expressed some interest in collaborating again - no matter how unlikely that outcome may actually be - it seems that Lucy Liu has a very different view on the chances of ever bringing Charlie's Angels back to the big screen.

It’s been over twenty years since Lucy Liu first suited up as one of Charlie’s Angels alongside Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore, and despite the fan demand for Charlie’s Angels 3, she doesn’t think it will happen.

Lucy Liu isn't holding out hope for a third Charlie's Angels movie with her co-stars from the previous films.
Back in 2000, Liu played Alex Munday in the original Charlie's Angels movie. She reprised the role for the 2003 sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. The franchise was later rebooted by director Elizabeth Banks in 2019, but it wasn't quite as well-received. Meanwhile, many fans still have a fond nostalgia for the previous movies, and in the age of reboots and legacy sequels, Charlie's Angels 3 happening isn't a far-fetched possibility. However, per Variety, Liu suggested that a third film is highly unlikely.

Lucy Liu Doesn’t Think ‘Charlie’s Angels 3’ Will Ever Get Made: ‘I Will Be Shocked if That Happened’
Two of Lucy Liu’s most popular films are 2000’s “Charlie’s Angels” and 2003’s “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” in which she starred alongside Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore as the titular trio. But Liu revealed at the Variety Studio presented by Audible that it’s unlikely a third chapter will ever happen — despite Diaz’s recent return to acting after a long hiatus.
“I honestly don’t know how that’s going to be feasible,” she said. “There have been so many iterations, even after the fact … In some ways, it’s such a strange thing to think about it. Times have changed so much since then.

Nostalgia is a huge draw for audiences. That’s why producers and filmmakers revisit old classics, sometimes after decades, to tap into that market of viewers who want to reminisce on the past. For many, Barbie transports them right back to play dates and a time when your imagination ran wild. Perhaps that’s why even blurry stills from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling (playing Barbie and Ken respectively) caused a frenzy on social media months before the trailer or the movie was released. Another name that popped up in conversation: Greta Gerwig.
Gerwig is an American screenwriter and director who got her start with indie films. But after a string of successful films, Mattel, one of the top toy companies, trusted her with Barbie’s first live-action film. This role not only propels Gerwig into the conversation of top directors, but helps pave the way for other women directors...

Rotten Tomatoes ratings have both critic and audience scores to gauge public opinion on TV shows. Several TV shows with 0% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes were found to have low audience ratings or lacked reviews from top critics. Shows like "Saint George" and "Charlie's Angels" were criticized for stereotypes, low production value, and repetitive elements.
While there are plenty of great TV shows out in the world, there are others that fell flat with a 0% Rotten Tomatoes rating. It's worth noting that there are several TV shows on Rotten Tomatoes with a 0% rating, but they aren't included. This is for several reasons, such as there being no audience ratings at all to compare it against, or a significantly high audience rating, with it appearing that Rotten Tomatoes hasn't provided enough reviews from top critics yet and, therefore, has been marked as 0%.

Dynasty had the good fortune of premiering as Dallas had triggered a resurgence in the evening soap opera television genre. Premiering in January 1981 — just a few months after the “Who Shot J.R.?” cliffhanger was resolved — the show wound up lasting nine seasons, produced 220 episodes, and even spawned a spinoff series. John Forsythe was the show’s anchor — as oil magnate Blake Carrington, he was the only actor to appear in every single episode of the show’s run. While Forsythe had been around Hollywood since the 1940s and had experienced great success as the voice of “Charlie” on Charlie’s Angels. Before his death in 2010 we spoke with Forsythe several times over the years and even with all of his Hollywood experience, he told us he couldn’t believe how successful Dynasty would become. While Los Angeles is one of the most popular filming locations in the US, The Lincoln Lawyer is one of comparatively few series to actually set their action in the city. LA’s numerous studio lots and varied landscape allows it to masquerade as just about anywhere, and it’s this same film industry that has caused the city’s population to explode, leading to a massive urban sprawl that occupies thousands of square miles. Yet Los Angeles has a lifeblood of its own, possessing numerous regions, cultures and communities that are rarely explored on-screen.
A handful of great TV shows, including Netflix’s legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer, choose to set their action in Los Angeles itself. The city’s cultural melting pot makes it an interesting dramatic subject, as does the entertainment industry itself. The intention of Sheroes seems incredibly clear: To make a fun, female-centric action comedy. While Sheroes has potential, it feels like an interesting idea that never came to fruition but was greenlit as a film anyway. While there is fun to be had, the story goes nowhere, and the characters don't feel believable. Sheroes jumps from point A to point B without anything to say or much direction, creating a mediocre action experience.
Written and directed by Jordan Gertner, Sheroes follows Diamond (Sasha Luss), Ezra (Isabelle Fuhrman), Ryder (Wallis Day), and Daisy (Skai Jackson), four luxurious friends who travel to Thailand to stay in Diamond's filmmaker father's vacation home. When Daisy searches the city for some party favors, she finds danger and gets herself kidnapped. Narrowing down the best movies in any genre is tough, but for lesbian films you have to begin with a reductive question: What is a lesbian film? What, in fact, is a lesbian?.
Must the film focus primarily on a gay storyline, or can it feature strong lesbian characters doing something entirely different than just being lesbians? Is subtext enough, or must the sapphic be explicit? How much cinephile wrath will rain down on us for the absence of a certain recent Oscar winner?
Compared to the stand-outs of queer television, the best lesbian movies have relatively little time to convey their perspective on the vast, varied, (sometimes) vaginal lesbian experience. And yet, ultimately, the best lesbian films honor not just their own perspectives, but also the glory and traditions of all of queer cinema. Strong women, high entertainment value, and bold visuals reign supreme.

In the early days of television, the “Big Three” networks ruled the small screen. ABC is the baby, entering the new medium a little behind its competitors, and finding new and creative ways to find success against two mighty opponents.
ABC found its earliest success with two programs that had begun on radio, “The Lone Ranger,” which was the network’s first big hit, and “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” a sitcom loosely based on the life of the real-life Nelson family. The latter remained on the air for 14 seasons, and was the longest-running prime-time comedy for decades, and the longest-running live action sitcom until 2021. However, ABC still struggled against the firmly established NBC and CBS, and found innovative ways to compete.
In 1954, ABC and Walt Disney struck an unprecedented deal: the network helped finance the filmmaker’s ambitious Disneyland Park, while Disney produced a weekly TV show for the network.

The ongoing writer's strike in Hollywood has officially impacted "The MTV Movie & TV Awards." The awards show is set to take place this weekend and was set to be hosted by Drew Barrymore. However, the "Charlie's Angels" and "Scream" star has opted to drop out of the hosting gig as a show of solidarity with the Writers Guild of America.
According to Variety, the awards ceremony is still going to take place Sunday night. Rather than attempt to replace "The Drew Barrymore Show" host at the 11th hour, MTV intends to proceed without a host at all, although Barrymore has agreed to host next year's event as a show of good faith. Barrymore had this to say about it in a statement:
"I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the 'MTV Movie & TV Awards' live in solidarity with the strike.

When Chukwudi Iwuji was a kid growing up in Nigeria and Ethiopia, he imagined he could fly.
The second youngest of five, he would spend hours on his own, meticulously reenacting scenes he’d seen on TV, playing every part himself. Virtually all of what captured his imagination were American shows and films from the 1970s and ’80s: “Charlie’s Angels,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Godfather” and “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” via broadcast reruns and bootleg VHS tapes. After he first saw “Star Wars,” he would stare intensely at a plastic cup, willing it to move. And “Superman,” of course, convinced Iwuji he could leap tall buildings in a single bound.
“I would actually run around the compound as fast as I could, hoping to get fast enough to take off,” he says with a wide and wistful grin. “I guess I was always going to be an actor.

There are many big names and popular actors that are impossible to forget in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, but others may have faded from memory. The MCU’s Spider-Man movies, starring Tom Holland, have rightfully garnered praise for how they’ve built up the hero as central to the franchise, but the charm and tone of Raimi’s trilogy will forever keep it cemented as a Marvel movie mainstay. Fortunately, there’s been a deep resurgence in appreciation for the movies thanks to Raimi directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home bringing back Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Thomas Haden Church.
As the MCU prepares for Spider-Man 4 with Holland, there’s a growing interest in Raimi and Maguire getting their own Spider-Man 4. It would be a thrilling and fantastic opportunity to reconnect with the distinct world Raimi created,...
