Sam and Ash find themselves embarking on an unexpected creative and investigative journey. The two young documentary filmmakers come across intriguing footage showing a local graffiti artist named Emily mysteriously vanishing through a strange door standing alone in an abandoned building. Intrigued by this puzzling clip and hoping it might provide the breakthrough story their careers have been missing, they set out on a quest to solve the enigma.
Their adventure leads them to acquire the peculiar portal itself, transporting it to Ash’s flat for further study. Initial experiments reveal the doorway’s incredible ability to open onto entirely different realms, the landscapes within influenced by the thoughts of the opener.
With Sam and Ash’s interests captivated by each bizarre new dimension exposed, they expand their operation. Joining forces with academic Innis, the trio dedicate themselves to thoroughly exploring the door’s full potential and learning its true nature.

Production has begun on a film adaptation of the cybercrime videogame series Watch Dogs – over a decade after it was first announced.
After more than a decade in development, shooting has finally begun on Watch Dogs, the film adaptation of Ubisoft’s series of open-world hacking videogames.
The announcement comes directly from Ubisoft itself, which broke the news on X/Twitter/Muskbook with a photograph of a clapperboard and the caption ‘Lights_Camera_Action.exe’.
Watch Dogs was first announced in 2013, before the first game in the series had even been released. It was a period of excitement for Ubisoft, since it had just set up its own film division and had grand plans of making movies out of several of its properties.
There was even talk of Tom Hardy starring in a Splinter Cell movie. Enthusiasm began to cool when Ubisoft Motion Pictures put out its Assassin’s Creed film...

It’s been a few months since word arrived about Talk to Me star Sophie Wilde leading the cast of Mathieu Turi’s (The Deep Dark, Meander, Hostile) Watch Dogs. The live-action adaptation of UbiSoft’s popular video game series is quietly coming together at New Regency. Still, a new update about the project shows significant movement of the hacker-centric action film.
According to Turi’s Instagram account, production on Watch Dogs is in full effect. Turi posted an image of a clapboard for Watch Dogs alongside a caption featuring a pair of curious googly eyes. With over 50 million players since the franchise began in 2014 with the release of Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs: Bad Blood, the film adaptation finds French genre filmmaker Mathieu Turi in the director’s chair. Turi directs Watch Dogs from a script by Christie LeBlanc, who wrote the Alexandre Aja-directed Netflix film Oxygen.

Talk To Me breakout star Sophie Wilde is set to appear in Watch Dogs, a long-in-gestation adaptation of Ubisoft’s hacking-based videogame series.
As such Hollywood films as Blackhat and Hackers have taught us, only the coolest and most photogenic people engage in cybercrime. The cool-and-trendy-hacker theme was continued in Watch Dogs, a series of sandbox action adventure videogames first published by Ubisoft in 2014.
Spawning a hit franchise comprising two sequels and counting, Watch Dogs sees high-tech outlaws cause all kinds of digital mischief in cities around the world, with each game taking in stealth, driving, fisticuffs, shooting and tinkering with electronic devices.
A film adaptation based on the series was first floated by Ubisoft Motion Pictures back in 2013, before the original game was even released. The division’s plans for a multitude of movies based on its games took something of a body blow, however, when 2016’s Assassin’s Creed,...

The revamped Pantera have made it their mission to honor late brothers Dimebag Darrell (guitar) and Vinnie Paul (drums) on their ongoing tour. On Saturday night (February 24th) in Baltimore, a young fan’s resemblance to Dime caught the attention of singer Philip Anselmo.
Seeing the fan with a curly mop of hair on his head brought back memories for Anselmo, who recalled his first meetings with Dimebag. “Some people might believe in reincarnation and stuff like that,” the Pantera frontman said from the stage. “There could be a younger Dimebag right up front … Dude, just shake your head like that and everybody in the whole place will see it. Hey, turn up the lights here. Show ’em. Look at that guy.”

“When I was first met Dime, his lid was exactly that length,” continued Anselmo, who invited up the fan to join the band onstage.

In the wake of Lizzo reportedly preparing to file a countersuit against the former backup dancers suing her for sexual harassment, a lawyer for plaintiffs Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez is firing back.
In a statement to Page Six, attorney Ron Zambrano — who represents the three women, blasted the singer’s countersuit.
“Lizzo’s threat to countersue for malicious prosecution is an insidious attempt at intimidation and delivers a chilling effect to all harassment victims in the workplace,” said Zambrano.

The UK’s Windrush Caribbean Film Festival is readying its fourth edition, which will be the first to run under the artistic direction of Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of the British Urban Film Festival.
The festival will honour the 75th anniversary of the arrrival of the Windrush generation in the UK, the people from the Caribbean countries who came to work in the nascent National Health Service and the sectors facing a post-war labour shortage between 1948 and the early 1970s. While The Simpsons set up a great relationship between Bart and his new teacher Rayshelle in season 33, so far, season 34 has completely wasted its opportunities to focus on this promising plot. Bart Simpson does not, broadly speaking, get on well with teachers. While one of Lisa Simpson’s most iconic stories followed her infatuation with the soft-spoken, short-lived substitute teacher Mr. Bergstrom, Bart always had a more antagonistic relationship with authority figures than his sister. As a result, it was a major surprise when a teacher approved of Bart’s behavior in The Simpsons season 33, and an interesting twist for the long-running show.
While classic Simpsons episodes like “Lisa On Ice” saw Bart excel at sports and a handful of other outings saw him hailed as an artistic genius and therapeutic wunderkind, by the end of these episodes, Bart was always back to his old self. This is why teachers...

San Sebastian — Smart genre, zombies and throwbacks to the ’70s and ‘80s are some of the current trends in genre cinema, according to some specialists in the field. It’s a cyclical dynamic now offering meaningful box office hits such as Corin Hardy’s “The Nun” or Ari Aster’s “Hereditary.” Genre cinema always attracts the attention of industry players. These are some of them.
An auteur-driven trend commands greatest consensus among experts. Matteo Lovadina, CEO of Paris-based sales and co-production company Reel Suspects, observed that some great examples recently of genre film have, “thanks to their clever storytelling,” been able to attract both auteur and genre audiences.
“Films like Joachim Trier’s ‘Thelma,’ Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out’, David Robert Mitchell’s ‘It Follows’ or ‘Hereditary,’ have brought genre cinema again into focus and restored a certain credit to this hidden part of the cinematic world,” Lovadina observed.

Mathieu Turi's debut feature may have just released yesterday from Sony Pictures, but he's far from a newbie. In fact, the French director has been working behind the scenes of many huge franchise films for years, including G.I. Joe, Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds and Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films, to name a few. But after years of being assistant to the assistant, Turi knew he needed to make the leap into directing his own material and so took the plunge after meeting producer Xavier Gens. He pitched a few ideas and Hostile, a post-apocalyptic chamber piece of sorts, won out for its high-concept and low budget, and he was quickly off to the races. I had the chance to speak with Turi about...

Stranded in a car wreck in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Juliette (Brittany Ashworth) has to fend off a strange creature who isn't interested in giving her a hand in Hostile. With the new horror movie out now on VOD platforms and DVD from 4Digital Media, we caught up with writer/director Mathieu Turi to discuss combining genres, the influence of Richard Matheson's I Am Legend, and working with Javier Botet.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Mathieu. How and when did you first come up with the idea for Hostile?
Mathieu Turi: I previously did two short films, Sons of Chaos (2010), a post-apocalyptic/action/creature short which received official selection in multiple film festivals around the world and officially competed at Sitges in 2011. The second film, Broken (2012), is a love story/drama set in an elevator. So, in a way, Hostile is a mix of the two short films.

"Every mistake you make, you make it for a reason." 4Digital Media has released a new trailer for a post-apocalyptic survival horror film titled Hostile, from French filmmaker Mathieu Turi making his directorial debut. We posted a slick teaser trailer for this last fall, and finally have another new trailer to promote its upcoming Us release in September this year. Not to be confused with the Christian Bale western Hostiles, this film is about a woman, played by Brittany Ashworth, who is a survivor of an apocalypse and ends up crashing her truck while driving around. She wakes up at night, and must battle strange creatures that roam the wastelands in the dark. The cast includes Grégory Fitoussi, Javier Botet, Jay Benedict, and David Gasman. This still reminds me a bit of I Am Legend, but this trailer makes it seem somewhat more unique. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for Mathieu Turi's Hostile,...

Warning: The following contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Marvel’s Runaways, “Hostile,” streaming now on Hulu.
Marvel’s Runaways ends its first season today with perhaps its most conventional episode to date, if you can consider a group of teens pushing a dinosaur in a shopping cart through the streets of Los Angeles “conventional.” But that aside, “Hostile” falls back on well-established tropes, as the kids line up against their “evil” parents, Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner) has her own Civil War-style face-off against her biological father Jonah (Julian McMahon), and the titular Runaways … run away … in slow motion.

Ahead of the UK premiere of his debut feature Hostile at the Horror Channel Frightfest Halloween event, director Mathieu Turi shares his admiration for Tarantino, describes the challenges of filming in three continents and reveals his ‘magic hour’.
You were born in Cannes so you grew up with film all around? When did you know for sure you wanted to direct?
I think it’s always been there. As a child, I used to steal my dad’s VHS camera to make mini-movies. They were basically all about my Jurassic Park toys eating my dog or invading the garden. Later, I did more elaborate short films with friends, instead of studying. Then, I remember watching Braveheart and the making of the movie. For the first time, I knew that directing was something I wanted to do for a living.

"My name is Juliette, and I survived the apocalypse. You think I'm lucky? You're wrong." A trailer has debuted for an intriguing post-apocalyptic creature feature titled Hostile, the feature directorial debut of French filmmaker Mathieu Turi. Not to be confused with the Christian Bale western Hostiles, this one is about a woman who is the lone survivor of an apocalypse and ends up crashing her truck driving around. She wakes up at night, and must battle strange creatures that roam the wastelands in the dark. The cast includes Grégory Fitoussi, Javier Botet , Jay Benedict, and David Gasman. This kind of looks like I Am Legend if it was set in a dusty wasteland instead of the city. This actually looks pretty good. Check it out. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Mathieu Turi's Hostile, direct from YouTube: Juliette (Brittany Ashworth), a lone survivor of an apocalyptic era, fights to survive against hunger,...
