Endor Productions, the television and film production company behind Vienna Blood, State of Play, Restless and Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot is to close after 26 years.

Seven.One Studios, which has owned Endor for the last 12 years, said it had taken the decision to shutter the outfit due to “the persistently difficult” market for productions in the international scripted sector.

In a statement to Screen’s sister title Broadcast, the ProSiebenSat.1 Media company said: “Endor will not make any further investments in new developments but will focus exclusively on the completion of current productions.

One alternate universe showcased in the movie is Earth-65B, home of Spider-Gwen/Gwen Stacy. Gwen is, as usual, raised by her police officer father, George Stacy, and the animated movie actually provides his best adaptation yet.

Captain Stacy was featured in two live-action Spider-Man movie franchises, but neither version did him true justice. No matter what corner of the multiverse he's in, Spider-Man saves people. However, the central dilemma in Across the Spider-Verse presents Miles Morales with a challenge reminiscent of a classic Sam Raimi Spider-Man scene. Miles wants to save everybody, even though he's presented with an impossible choice.

The movie makes clever use of the term "canon," at least as it pertains to the "true" history of beloved franchise characters. While all of the Spider-People in Across the Spider-Verse come from distinct and dynamic backgrounds, there are "canon events" that all of them must face. One of those is the death of a police captain to whom the hero is close to for one reason or another. While in the Mumbattan universe, Miles does what Spider-Man does and saves people's lives, including saving that universe's police captain.

As the second entry in the widely acclaimed “Spider-Verse” franchise, Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse expanded the scope of the multiverse immensely and presented the viewers with a mind-boggling spectacle consisting of a staggering number of Spider-Characters.
