Sheldon Cooper isn’t the only celebrating tonight. Uber-producer Chuck Lorre helped to honor the 100th episode of Young Sheldon by reaching a milestone of his own — his 700th vanity card.
The card, which aired at the end of Thursday’s episode on CBS, featured a bunch of equations that we presume add up to 100. Lorre quickly followed his 700th vanity card with a 701st vanity card at the end of United States of Al, which makes fun of the previous one.
For 25 years, Lorre has set aside one second of airtime after each of his comedies to express his thoughts. The tradition began with Dharma and Greg and continued with Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, and Mom as well as Young Sheldon, Bob Hearts Abishola,...

“Young Sheldon” isn’t so young anymore — and as the hit CBS comedy marks its 100th episode, the series is growing up along with its title star. Co-creator and executive producer Steve Molaro told Variety that as Sheldon, played by Iain Armitage, enters his teenage years and starts attending college, more grown-up storylines have started to reflect that change.
“It’s hard to believe that we started out the pilot [in 2017] when Iain was eight years old,” Molaro said. “And Raegan Revord, who plays Missy, was eight or nine. So we’ve come a long way. Back then we were doing more family-oriented stories and kid-friendly stories because we had two nine-year-olds on the show. But now that they’re young adults and teenagers, we’re finding we can really open up the kinds of stories we’d like to tell and let things get more adult with everybody. And that...

While it still has a ways to go to come close to matching the number of episodes of predecessor The Big Bang Theory (which had 279), prequel Young Sheldon hits a major milestone with Thursday’s episode: the 100th. That’s cause for celebration for the No. 1 comedy on television—and a good time to gather genius Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) and members of his family together for a memorable dinner scene. “All the characters have sort of had their own days and their own crazy stuff happening,” Armitage teases, “and nobody really knows what everybody else is going through at this point.” Among the various stories that collide in the episode are an inebriated Meemaw (Annie Potts) still trying to cope with being unexpectedly dumped by boyfriend Dale (Craig T. Nelson), and Sheldon’s brother Georgie (Montana Jordan) having not yet told his older girlfriend, Mandy (Emily Osment), that he’s actually 17 years old.

Laughter has always been at the center of CBS’s Young Sheldon, the early-’90s-set prequel to The Big Bang Theory that explores the life of persnickety 12-year-old genius Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) and his East Texas family. But heading into its 100th episode, TV’s No. 1 comedy has been pulling on the heartstrings as well. In the March 10 half-hour, Sheldon’s live-wire grandmother Connie, aka Meemaw (fan favorite Annie Potts), was blindsided when her cantankerous boyfriend, sporting goods store owner Dale Ballard (Parenthood’s Craig T. Nelson), dumped her. “It was a little tough to watch,” admits cocreator Steven Molaro, but the twist fits the sitcom’s mission for Season 5. “We’re not shying away from letting this show become the dramedy that it can be,” he says. (Credit: CBS) What hurts the most about the split? The senior couple genuinely care for each other. “Dale fell in love with who Meemaw is,...

Longtime General Hospital cast member Steve Burton is leaving the ABC show due to his refusal to comply with the production’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
Burton confirmed his long-rumored departure on Instagram today. “I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculations about me and General Hospital and I wanted you to hear it from me personally,” he says in the video. “Unfortunately, General Hospital has let me go because of the vaccine mandate.”

Burton goes on to say he sought medical and religious exemptions to the mandate but was denied by the production on both counts. “Which, you know, hurts,” he says, “but this is also about personal freedom to me.” After expressing thanks to fans – noting that he practically grew up on the show – he says, “Maybe one day if these mandates are lifted, I can return and finish my career as Jason Morgan.

Simon Helberg became the latest Big Bang Theory vet to reprise his role (in a voiceover capacity) during Thursday’s Young Sheldon — an episode that revealed the origin story of Sheldon’s complicated relationship with engineering (and with Howard).

But during this week’s episode of the ongoing prequel series, Adult Sheldon (once again voiced by Jim Parsons) revealed...

UK media regulator Ofcom has recommended that the country’s wildly popular television tax break system could be expanded to encourage increasingly dominant platforms, such as streaming giant Netflix, to invest in local public service content.
Ofcom said the government should consider broadening the high-end TV tax credit, which has incentivized Netflix to spend $1 billion on UK shows like Sex Education, as part of long-awaited reforms to British media regulation.
Ofcom made the recommendation as part of its landmark review of public service broadcasting. It has today published a 70-page document calling for a series of changes to the UK’s 2003 Communications Act in order to protect public service content and its main proponents — the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5 — amid the digital revolution.

Chuck Lorre’s freshman comedies B Positive and The United States of Al have both been renewed for second seasons.
B Positive, the Thomas Middleditch and Annaleigh Ashford-fronted show was the first new CBS show to debut as part of the 2020/21 broadcast season and was the second new show of the season, after ABC’s Big Sky, to receive a back order.
Both shows are airing as part of CBS’ Thursday comedy slate alongside Young Sheldon and Mom, and while neither show has been a breakout hit, comedy traditionally takes longer to find an audience.
Created by former Mom co-executive producer Marco Pennette inspired by personal experience, B Positive is about a therapist and newly divorced dad (Middleditch) who is faced with finding a kidney donor when he runs into a rough-around-the-edges woman from his past (Ashford) who volunteers her own. Together they form an unlikely bond and begin...

A whiz kid and a group of recovering addicts brought CBS to viewership glory as the Young Sheldon season four and Mom finales were the two most watched programs of Thursday evening.
Young Sheldon drew in a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.84M viewers, up from its season four opening. The Big Bang Theory prequel, which stars Iain Armitage, was up against reruns of Grey’s Anatomy on ABC and Name That Tune on Fox.
In the next time slot Mom, starring Allison Janney, closed off its eight-season run (sans Anna Farris) bringing in 6.05M viewers and a 0.7 rating, a 27% rise in viewership and a tenth bump in ratings since its season premiere back in November. Though the finale saw a slight increase from the season premiere, Thursday’s event saw a dramatic drop in ratings from Mom‘s series debut in 2013 (2.5/6).

CBS tops another Tuesday with popular procedurals Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “Young Rock” rose in TV ratings with its Season 1 finale, but NBC was not much of a primetime contender. Considering “Kenan” wrapped up its own first season last week and “This Is Us” is still in repeats, the former professional wrestler’s sitcom didn’t have a whole bunch of help. Instead, CBS topped another Tuesday with a trio of procedurals. Fox finished second with its comparatively abbreviated primetime. CBS was first in ratings with a 0.7 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 7.5 million, according to preliminary numbers. “NCIS” at 8 p.m. drew a 0.8/5 and 9.3 million total viewers. At 9, “FBI” had a 0.7/5 and 7.9 million total viewers. “FBI: Most Wanted” at 10 got a 0.5/4 and 5.5 million total viewers. Fox was second in ratings with a 0.5/3 and in viewers with 2.7 million. “The Resident...

The 34th annual show aired at 7:30 p.m. Et on Nickelodeon, where “Alexa & Katie” was crowned the favorite kids’ show, but “Stranger Things” won for favorite family show. Brown, who stars in the Netflix drama, was named favorite television actress and favorite film actress. Winners are determined by fan votes.
Grande and Bieber won for favorite female and male recording artists, respectively, while their joint hit “Stuck With U” won for favorite collaboration. Bieber also performed at the show.
Like just about everything else over the past year, the Kids’ Choice Awards were held virtually, but there were still plenty of fun moments, I including the cast of “iCarly” reuniting to present the award for favorite movie. And, of course, there were...

This article contains WandaVision spoilers.
WandaVision has concluded with a terrific final episode, and with it, Marvel’s first foray into episodic television came to an end with startling success – taking a quiet story about a woman’s grief and loneliness, one of the most emotionally evocative pieces of MCU storytelling to date, and using it as a thread in the greater MCU tapestry. And that tapestry is unequivocally bigger now that the show is ended. Here are some of the pieces of groundwork WandaVision laid for the future of the MCU.
The Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange 2
Lots of people found it odd that the show used Wanda’s real name in its title when the rest of the MCU uses superhero code names. We know why now: the Scarlet Witch is itself a title, one that Wanda embraces by the end of the show. And now it looks...
