Lauren Graham has revealed which Gilmore Girls storyline she wasn’t the biggest fan of during her time on the dramedy.
The actress who played the beloved Lorelai Gilmore on the hit show, which ran for seven seasons from 2000-07, was the latest guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast. At one point, host Alex Cooper asked which storyline from the series “was a little hard for you to get behind.”
“There’s a year when Alexis [Bledel] and I — Rory and Lorelai — are in a fight for a long time and we would talk about it, and Amy [Sherman-Palladino, creator] was like, ‘You know you can’t do a show for this long and not have conflict,'” Graham recalled. “I forget even what the conflict was but it went on for a while, and that’s the one that I would hear from people that they didn’t like.”

The WB series Gilmore Girls, created by Dan and Amy Sherman Palladino, continues to be one of those bingeable shows, in the ranks with Friends, The Office, and Parks & Rec. The series ran for seven seasons, starring Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel as her daughter, Rory Gilmore. The ensemble included Kelly Bishop, Ed Herrmann, Sean Gunn, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil, Rose Abdoo, and more. Abdoo played Gypsy, the lovable and sarcastic local mechanic throughout seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, plus a revival on Netflix, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The show has continued to be loved by fans both old and new, with merchandise related to it still being released, as well as a mini-reunion in a holiday commercial just last winter for Walmart.

Juggling character development in an ensemble cast is a major undertaking. When it came to the hit WB show Gilmore Girls, the focus was of course, on Lauren Graham's Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel's Rory Gilmore. The mother-daughter dynamic was the main driving force of the Amy Sherman Palladino-created show, but there were also moments with Lorelai and Rory's extended family that fans got to see grow and develop over the course of seven seasons. Lorelai had a complicated relationship with her parents after running away with a newborn Rory when she was just a teenager. Played by Kelly Bishop and Ed Herrmann, Emily and Richard Gilmore re-entered Lorelai's life when she needed money for Rory's private school tuition.
Initially flat, stuck-up characters, Emily and Richard also grew tremendously across seven seasons, along with their relationships with both Lorelai and Rory. When speaking with Collider's Taylor Gates at PaleyFest,...

Gilmore Girls premiered in 2000 and ran for seven seasons on The WB and later The CW. The comedy-drama series' popularity has continued long after its series finale, as longtime fans see it as a comfort show, as well as new people discover it on streaming.
Gilmore Girls later received a limited series revival in 2016 on Netflix with the four-part Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Netflix has had the original series on the platform since 2014. However, in a new appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, lead star Lauren Graham revealed she doesn't get any residuals from Netflix for the show.
Asked if she gets tired of talking about it, the actress shared, "I'm not sick of talking about it at all." As Kimmel pointed out that this year marks Gilmore Girls' 25th anniversary, he also highlighted that the show is even more popular now than it was in the past.

Lauren Graham is shedding light on the unfortunate reality of beloved shows like Gilmore Girls being made available on streaming platforms.
After more than a decade on Netflix, plus a 2016 revival miniseries that premiered on the platform, the actress recently clarified that she gets “no residuals” for the original WB series being on the streamer.
“We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB,” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live of the Amy Sherman-Palladino show’s new life on Netflix. “And now it’s trickled into younger people, older people, men whose kids or wives probably have forced them to watch it. Yeah, I get stopped a lot. It surprises me every time though. I don’t know why.”
When asked how much she makes off the series, which originally ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007, Graham said, “There really are no residuals on Netflix. But...

Wherever the cast of Gilmore Girls lead, the questions about whether the series will ever return for more in some capacity will inevitably follow. After the four-episode Netflix revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life dropped in November 2016, fans of the beloved series have been anxious for the story to continue, but apart from the cast saying they'd return in a heartbeat, there have been no concrete plans for a new iteration of the dramedy.
Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham has been making the promotional rounds in support of her new Tubi comedy series The Z-Suite, and she has fielded multiple questions in interviews about the status of Gilmore Girls. She hasn't broken any news we didn't know before, but during a recent appearance on Armchair Expert with her on-screen Parenthood brother Dax Shepard, Graham revealed the only way she could currently see the series returning.

Fans are always calling for more Gilmore Girls, and they haven't entirely been ignored. In 2016, nine years after the original conclusion, Netflix released the four-part revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which allowed people to catch up with their favorite mother/daughter duo, yet the one-season miniseries left more questions than the original finale. Even more recently, a few key characters reunited for a Walmart commercial set in Star's Hollow. It may sound greedy, but fans still want to see the series continue, and actress Lauren Graham is with them. Graham's interest in another revival is crucial as she starred as Lorelai Gilmore, and any continuation would need her on board. However, for audiences and Graham to return to Star's Hollow after nearly a decade, one major question would need to be answered: is there a new Gilmore girl?...

Gilmore Girls star Laura Graham hopes fans will watch her new series, The Z-Suite on Tubi. She recently discussed how the role is different from Lorelai Gilmore, saying that the two characters are total opposites.
"There are no similarities, and I hope they’ll come along for this ride," Graham told The Hollywood Reporter. "I can’t do that. I can never replicate the beauty and the magic of that character and that writing and that time, so I might as well not try. This is something very different, but she’s fun and kooky and the show has a spirit to it that I think has a coziness to it, but it’s a very different character." The Z-Suite is a Tubi Original that is set to premiere on the streaming service on Feb. 6.

While holding out hope for a ninth season of Gilmore Girls, Netflix has the perfect TV show that will fill the Stars Hollow-shaped hole in fans' hearts. Amy Sherman-Palladino's teen comedy-drama series ran for seven seasons on The WB and The CW (for its final season) before ending in 2007. Almost ten years later, though, Netflix revived Gilmore Girls for a four-episode miniseries — Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life — which served as the show's unofficial eighth season. After it ended on a cliffhanger, many believe and hope season 9 is inevitable, but as of 2024, it hasn't happened (yet).
Amy Sherman-Palladino and almost the entire original cast of Gilmore Girls returned for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix in 2016.

Gilmore Girls star Scott Patterson has opened up about the controversial storyline that temporarily derailed Luke and Lorelai's relationship in the beloved series. The show, which ran from 2000 to 2007, follows the relationship between single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her teenage daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) in the quirky town of Stars Hollow. Among the series' most beloved storylines was the slow-burn romance between Lorelai and local diner owner Luke Danes (Patterson), whose will-they-won't-they dynamic became a cornerstone of the romantic drama and culminated in their marriage for the revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

The brand new sixth season of Virgin River is now streaming on Netflix, and chances are you've already watched all 10 episodes by now. Is that all? Nope! You have nothing to worry about because Virgin River season 7 has already been confirmed. Netflix announced the show's renewal back in October 2024.
An official release date hasn't been announced for the seventh season, but it will likely be released sometime in 2025. A new season of the romantic drama series has come out every year since it first premiered. One of the show's stars, Tim Matheson, revealed in a recent interview that production on Virgin River season 7 will begin in March 2025.
Unless there are serious delays in the filmmaking process, we can expect a late 2025 or early 2026 release. However, if Netflix wants to keep up with its pattern of releasing a new season every year, then the streamer will most likely drop season 7 by the end of next year.

Rather than bringing back Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life season 2, I’d much rather see a revival of an underrated Amy Sherman-Palladino show from 2012, which was canceled after one season. As a diehard Gilmore Girls fan, I, like many others, wanted nothing more than to go back to Stars Hollow and see the characters I love. Unfortunately, I am one of the many fans who thought the revival was bad and look to theories about A Year in the Life to make it more enjoyable.
The humor was outdated, the character growth was minimal, and the "thirty-something gang" felt like a mean-spirited caricature of the Millennial generation. Despite how enjoyable the 2024 Gilmore Girls reunion is in the popular Walmart commercial, I am not confident that a second season of Ayitl would fix the issues. Instead, I’d rather a streaming site focus on another Amy Sherman-Palladino show – canceled...

After years of only being available on Netflix, Gilmore Girls has a new streaming home, which is perfectly timed for new viewers and re-watchers alike. The family drama ran on The WB and later The CW from 2000 to 2007, winning viewers' hearts and becoming a cultural cornerstone. Since then, the fandom has only continued to grow over time.
After nine years, the cast joined together for an exclusive Netflix revival called A Year in the Life, which may not have been well-received but brought in a whole new generation of fans. Walmart even reunited two Gilmore Girls actors in 2024 for a commercial. Unfortunately, the original show and revival were exclusive to the streaming giant, meaning fans needed a Netflix account or settle for a show similar to Gilmore Girls. For the first time in years, the beloved show will be accessible on a different site – Hulu. This change is perfectly timed for the holidays.

Lorelai, Rory, and the rest of Stars Hollow have found a second streaming home just in time for the holidays. All episodes of the CW/WB's Gilmore Girls are now available to stream, and - let's be real - binge, on Hulu. The series is still available in its entirety on Netflix, with the streamer also being the exclusive home of the 2016 four-part revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Hulu has also launched its Gilmore Girls holiday episodes collection, which can be found on the series landing page, and includes nine episodes from the original seven-season show.
Gilmore Girls originally aired from 2000 to 2007, with its revival miniseries landing on Netflix in 2016. The dramedy follows the lives of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), a mother-daughter duo living in the fictional small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The show is known for its fast-paced, witty banter (that...

Gilmore Girls, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino is one of the most popular American comedy-drama series that first aired almost more than two decades ago. It had a good run between 2000 and 2007 for 7 seasons because of its endearing storyline and beautiful characterization. But despite its popularity, the show was canceled, leaving millions of fans disheartened.

Gilmore Girls has landed a brand new streaming home just in time for the festive season. The classic family dramedy is now available to stream on Hulu, but that doesn’t mean Gilmore Girls is leaving Netflix.
TVLine reports that all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls officially landed on Hulu as of 3Am Et on Monday (December 16). Subscribers can now watch a curated group of Gilmore Girls' holiday episodes on the show's Hulu landing page as well. Hulu celebrated its major acquisition on Instagram by sharing a side-by-side comparison between Lorelai and Rory’s first-ever scene with the original script. One downside for Hulu subscribers is that 2016 miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will remain exclusive to Netflix. Netflix also continues to stream the original seven seasons – so there’s now more ways to watch Gilmore Girls than ever.

Moving forward, both streaming services will have access to all of the episodes in the series. But of course, only Netflix will have the “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” revival series.
But all seven seasons of the original Stars Hollow classic are currently available on Hulu. In celebration of the addition, Hulu also created a “Gilmore Girls” Holiday Episodes playlist. Here are the episodes the playlist spotlights:

Hulu on Sunday night dropped all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino’s perennial favorite series that ran for seven seasons on The WB and the CW from 2000-2007 but has steadfastly remained in the ether thanks to streaming.
Hulu is making all 153 episodes available, with nine of the series’ holiday-themed ones showcased in a curated ‘Holiday Episodes” tray on the show page.
The deal is not exclusive — Gilmore Girls‘ longtime SVOD home, Netflix, will continue to stream the Warner Bros TV-produced series. In 2016, Netflix released a follow-up four-part miniseries, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
In October, more than 17 years after the series finale, Gilmore Girls was No. 8 in the Nielsen streaming charts for Netflix with 640 million minutes viewed. The measurement service noted the series traditionally begins to pick up viewers each year after Labor Day, with about 56% of its audience in the age 18-34 demo.

Because Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is disliked by most fans, some theories about the show make it much more enjoyable during rewatches. The beloved family drama Gilmore Girls ran on TV from 2000 to 2007, winning over the hearts of viewers. Nine years after the show ended, Netflix released a revival, featuring four 90-minute long episodes.
Unfortunately, the revival failed because the Gilmore Girls characters also either failed to progress or regressed from the end of the original show. The show also used antiquated humor and pop culture references. While the failures of Ayitl are frustrating, fans have taken to developing their own theories about the revival that can make the show more entertaining and tolerable, despite the narrative issues.

So, fans were shocked when the cast came back together once again. This time, for a Walmart commercial. In the ad, fans get to see Kirk, Luke, Lorelai, and even the town troubadour who is, of course, still playing music for the town of Stars Hollow. Unfortunately, other main characters like Rory Gilmore sat this one out.

Are you going home for the holidays? Well, Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson and Sean Gunn went back to Stars Hollow for the festive season.
The stars of Gilmore Girls who played Lorelai Gilmore, Luke Danes and Kirk Gleason, respectively, reunited for a new Walmart holiday ad. This is the first time fans of the beloved show saw them on the screen together since the 2016 special miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
In the ad spot (below), Gunn is seen carrying a Walmart package across the iconic Stars Hollow town square and dropping the package off to Patterson at Luke’s Diner. Graham then greets Gunn as she enters the beloved eatery and tells Patterson in total Lorelai fashion, “Coffee, coffee, coffee please.”
“Coming right up,” Patterson responds as he whips out the Walmart package, which has a Keurig coffee machine inside (the perfect Lorelai gift, right?)

Over its seven seasons and a revival, Gilmore Girls had many great couples to choose from. However, only a few stood the test of time, and Luke and Lorelai are among them.
17 years after the show's finale, and eight years after the four-part Netflix miniseries revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Lauren Graham's Lorelai and Scott Patterson reunited in a surprising setting. The two actors, as well as fan-favorite character Kirk (Sean Gunn), reprised their roles and returned to Stars Hollow for a Walmart ad. Speaking to People about their reunion, the two stars also teased what they think might be going on with their characters and whether a sequel was in the cards.

While Gilmore Girls had its dramatic moments, the dramedy also had some truly laugh-out-loud funny episodes in its original run. The cast of Gilmore Girls were perpetually falling in and out of love, so, although the show maintained a fairly low-key tone throughout, there was never any lack of drama. Admittedly, the series was hardly a soap opera, and it is no surprise that actor Milo Ventimiglia’s suggestion that his character should be brutally killed off was ignored by the showrunners. However, whether it was Luke’s secret daughter or Rory’s choice of college, there was plenty of conflict in Stars Hollow.

Nearly 25 years after it premiered in 2000, "Gilmore Girls" remains a beloved show with a massive fanbase. Introduced in the Gilmore Girls' pilot, Dean Forester was a key figure in the early part of Rory Gilmore's story. However, despite Dean being one of Rory's more important romantic interests, he didn't appear on the CW series after Season 5. His surprising absence had much to do with the actor who played Dean's character, Jared Padalecki, and his career trajectory, leading him to another popular CW project.
However, Dean remains a crucial part of Stars Hollow history, and he's become one of the most relevant parts of the show for all Gilmore Girls fans. The argument about who is Rory Gilmore's best boyfriend will always continue, but regardless of that, fans truly missed Dean in the show's last two seasons. What's more, Jared Padalecki went on to star in another CW project that cemented the audience's love for the actor.

Although Logans absence from the Gilmore Girls finale might seem strange, it makes perfect sense for the shows story. The cast of Gilmore Girls went through a lot of heartache over the years as Lorelai and Rory tried to find their respective Mr. Right. Lorelai dated Max Medina, Jason, and even Christopher before finally ending up with Luke, and Rory dated Dean, Jess, and Logan without ever ending up with any of them. Although fans still debate which boyfriend was best for Rory, there is no denying who she seemed most likely to end up with.

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life tied up many loose ends from Gilmore Girls nine years later. However, Max Medina (Scott Cohen) is not one of them. Max was Lorelai Gilmore's (Lauren Graham) first fianc, and Rory Gilmore's (Alexis Bledel) former Chilton Academy teacher. Lorelai ends her relationship with Max by abruptly leaving town on their wedding day, and has several other relationships before ultimately ending up with Luke Danes (Scott Patterson).
While several of Lorelai's exes make appearances in A Year In The Life, Max is notably absent. Although Gilmore Girls had plenty of storylines that earned the ire of its fans, it is strange that two of these subplots told almost the same story at around the same time. Gilmore Girls cast of characters were never the best communicators. Ironically, considering how well-read and sometimes absurdly verbose both Lorelai and Rory could be, both generations of Gilmore women often ran into misunderstandings and miscommunications. Some of these were merely comedic asides, but some ballooned into full-blown conflicts. In particular, Deans Gilmore Girls role was often beset by the many misunderstandings between himself and Rory.

The Gilmore Girls revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life found it difficult to live up to the expectations that the original series set. The Gilmore Girls miniseries was the nostalgia that was needed, as it provided a much-anticipated update on the beloved characters. However, although there were good intentions behind the revival series, there are still problems with it that could not be addressed unless there is a Gilmore Girls season 9, which would overshadow the legacy of the original show.
A Year in the Life follows the Gilmore Girls cast nine years after the original show's ending. The revival sees Alexis Bledel and Laura Graham reprise their iconic roles as Rory and Lorelai, who have moved on to other ventures. Where each Gilmore Girls character ends up in the miniseries changes the trajectory of their journeys, but Rory's arc in particular has a lot of major problems.

iIn the nine years between the conclusion of Gilmore Girls and the release of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a number of significant events occurred in the lives of the show's beloved characters. Richard Gilmore (Edward Hermann) dies, Paris Geller (Liza Weil) is on the brink of divorce, and Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Luke Danes (Scott Patterson) have moved in together. Perhaps most importantly, Rory Gilmore's (Alexis Bledel) harsh reality of her career struggles is evident at the start of the original show's sequel.
The Gilmore Girls universe has always offered a window into the complexities of interpersonal relationships, and how they change over time. The show's many what-if moments come to fruition through the characters' convoluted lives years past Rory's high school and college eras. Gilmore Girls left many characters with unfinished business, and where the characters end up in A Year in the...

Despite the time that's passed by since the show's ending, Gilmore Girls remains a compelling viewing experience. However, re-watching the first season after two decades has revealed some quite upsetting truths about the show. Gilmore Girls debuted 24 years ago, and stole the hearts of its viewers with its quick-witted dialogue and heartwarmingly relatable character dynamics.
However, not every aspect of Gilmore Girls has stood the test of time. Society has progressed rapidly since the year 2000, and so has the show itself. The twists and turns of Gilmore Girls concluded storyline, along with a drastically changed societal perspective, means that season 1 of the comedy-drama sometimes breaks the viewer out of an autumnal daydream, and instead brings a harsh reality.

2016s Gilmore Girls reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, brought back most of the original cast for the Netflix miniseries, but why did viewers see so little of fan favorites Sookie and Dean? The four-episode Gilmore Girls revival brought back most of the shows original cast but earned the ire of some fans for altering the characters. Of course, not every actor was able to put in an appearance in the revival, and some had their screen time compromised by promising post-Gilmore Girls career commitments, thus, the Melissa McCarthy Gilmore Girls reboot issue.
Melissa McCarthy's Gilmore Girls character Sookie St. James and Jared Padaleckis Dean Forrester were two prominent Gilmore Girls mainstays who barely put in an appearance in A Year in the Life. Although both actors do show up in A Year in the Life, theyre both only in the revival very briefly with a single...
