The crime drama series Dexter originally aired on Showtime for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2013… and even though I had access to Showtime during those years, I completely missed out on it. The show was revived with a season called Dexter: New Blood in 2021, and now a prequel series called Dexter: Original Sin is set to begin airing on the Paramount+ streaming service as of this Friday, December 13th, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th. With those dates nearly upon us, Showtime has shared a behind-the-scenes featurette, which can be seen in the embed above, as well as a clip from the show, which can be found at the bottom of this article.

In recent months, I have been endeavoring to catch up on Dexter, and I have been loving the show. I’m currently at the start of season 7, so I won’t be fully caught up...

Exclusive: Augustus Prew (Players) has joined the cast of the Paramount+ original drama series 1923 for Season 2. In a recurring role, Prew will portray ‘Paul’, a dapper, bookish, well-to-do young British man on a passenger ship.

1923 follows a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren). The series explores the early 20th century, when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition plague the Mountain West and the Duttons who call it home.

Mulroney has been on countless hit shows over the last three decades, and he's going to keep his winning streak going with Chicago Fire. Paramount+ with Showtime revealed first-look images this morning for the upcoming highly-anticipated prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” that introduce the Morgan family and a young serial killer in training.

Bruce Miller has stepped down from his post as showrunner of the “The Handmaid’s Tale,” passing his duties on the sixth and final season to Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang, who already served as writers and executive producers.

Miller has showrun the Hulu drama since its premiere in 2017. He will remain on staff as a writer and executive producer on Season 6 while moving on to focus on developing a screen adaptation “The Testaments,” the “Handmaid’s Tale” sequel that original author Margaret Atwood wrote in 2019.

ABC has added Augustus Prew to “The Hurt Unit” pilot’s cast, the network confirmed to TheWrap.

Prew will play Gus, a member of the Hurt Unit team who weighs his aspiration to become a surgeon after recently being accepted into medical school with the high stakes job. As his job throws him into the depths of peril, Gus must decide if he truly wants to continue this line of work for the rest of his life.

The news comes just a day after “Gotham” actor Ben McKenzie was announced to star in the pilot as as Danny, a surgeon whose heroic yet perilous risk-taking tendencies tend to come with some serious consequences.

After recurring in Season 1 of Walker, Odette Annable has been upped to a series regular for the upcoming second season of the breakout hit CW drama series.

The reboot of the popular CBS drama centers on Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki), a widower and father of two with his own moral code who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home.

Annable, who appears in six of 11 Season 1 episodes, plays Geraldine “Geri” Broussard, an old friend of Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki) and his late wife Emily (Genevieve Padalecki) who runs a bar and has emerged as a romantic interest for Cordell.

This is a familiar territory for Annable who has been a lead/series regular on a slew of series, including the CW’s Supergirl, CBS All Access’ Tell Me a Story, CBS’ Pure Genius and Fox’s House and Breaking In.

It came as a shock last week when the news broke that Supergirl had been cancelled and the upcoming season 6 would be its last. This, of course, led to an outpouring of love for the show, the latest of whom to add to it is Kevin Smith.

When speaking on his Fatman Beyond podcast series, the subject of Supergirl being brought to an end came up, to which the filmmaker had this to say:

“Working on that show was some of the best times I’ve had in my life, professionally and personally. I’m so glad that show exists. I loved it, before I directed on it, just thought, ‘God, her relationship with her sister is so beautiful’.”

Hilary Swank is headed to Mars—by way of Netflix in the upcoming television series, Away.

The two-time Best Lead Actress Oscar winner—Boys Don’t Cry in 2000 and Million Dollar Baby in 2005—is headlining a space series from the streaming giant that’s more grounded than its other such offerings like, for example, Lost in Space or Another Life. Indeed, Swank stars in this 10-episode drama series as an American astronaut who reluctantly leaves her family behind for the perilous task of leading Nasa’s first manned mission to Mars.

Interestingly enough, the series is loosely inspired by real-life events, based on an article published in Esquire about a mission of astronaut Scott Kelly.

Chicago – How do you communicate Hong Kong’s homeless situation in a fresh and relatable way? Wong Hing Fan’s new film “I’m Livin’ It” takes on not only poverty, but the shortage of housing for professional and working class people. The main setting is a 24 hour burger restaurant – with the sly marketing slogan of “I’m Livin’ It!”

Once a star in his finance firm, Bowen (Aaron Kwok) now spends his nights in that fast food joint, which allows the homeless an overnight respite area, and he encounters other “roommates” who are in a similar predicament. There is a child and her mother (Cya Liu) – who has taken out high interest loans to cover her mother-in-law’s debt, an old man (Alex Man) who is too afraid to go home, a young runaway (Zeno Koo), and a singer (Miriam Yeung) who was part of the financier’s past.

Nicole Byer (Nailed It!) and Pure Genius alum Aaron Jennings are set as series regulars in NBC’s untitled ensemble comedy from the Brooklyn Nine-Nine duo of writer-producer Phil Augusta Jackson and co-creator/executive producer Dan Goor, and Universal TV.

The Untitled Phil Augusta Jackson & Dan Goor Project revolves around a group of black friends, their dating lives and wine.

Byer will play Nicky. Jennings will play Anthony Holmes, who’s happy with his career and has a strong work commitment.

They join previously announced series regulars Carl Tart, Echo Kellum and Justin Cunningham.

Jackson is writing with Goor supervising, and both executive produce.

Fox has ordered a film re-enactment drama pilot from Sarah Watson, the creator of “The Bold Type.”

In the untitled project, Stella Cooper returns to her distressed automotive hometown to substitute teach after failing to make it in New York and carrying a heavy secret. She finds inspiration, hope, and ultimately salvation when she agrees to help three students who are pursuing their filmmaking dreams by putting on an impossibly ambitious shot-for-shot remake of one of the student’s favorite movies, “The Goonies.”

Watson will write and executive produce the pilot with Greg Mottola attached to direct and executive produce. Richard Donner, who directed and produced “The Goonies,” will executive produce along with Lauren Shuler Donner. Gail Berman of SideCar and Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin Television will also executive produce. Warner Bros. Television will serve as the studio. Odette Annable is set to reunite with her former Supergirl co-star Chris Wood. 

Deadline is reporting that Annable has scored a lead role on the Thirtysomething sequel, Thirtysomething(else).

Annable is on board as Janey Steadman, the daughter of Hope (Mel Harris) and Michael (Ken Olin). 

She described as having "piercing eyes and unruly dark hair," and "possessed of what her boyfriend, Brad, calls a very big engine in a very small car."

Chris Wood recently joined the cast as Janey's younger brother, Leo Steadman. 

The pair previously appeared alongside each other on the CW's superhero drama series, Supergirl. 

Harris and Olin are attached to reprise their roles from the original series, alongside Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston) and Patty Wettig (Nancy Weston).

Odette Annable has signed on for a lead role in ABC’s drama pilot “Thirtysomething(else).”

The project is a continuation of the classic drama “Thirtysomething.” It will follow an ensemble of new faces playing the grown-up, 30-something children of the original cast reprised by Ken Olin (Michael Steadman), Mel Harris (Hope Murdoch), Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston) and Patty Wettig (Nancy Weston). Chris Wood was previously cast as Hope and Michael’s son, Leo.

Annable will play Janey, Hope and Michael’s daughter and Leo’s sister. She is described as passionate, driven person, possessed of what her boyfriend, Brad, calls a very big engine in a very small car.

Alexander and Nicole have recurred as Marco and Melba, respectively, and Owens guest-starred in one episode in season 4 as Felip. Alexander appeared in four episodes in season four. Rutger Hauer, the Dutch actor best known for portraying the tragic villain Roy Batty in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic “Blade Runner,” died following a short illness. He was 75.

His website, the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association, announced the news Wednesday. Hauer’s managers, as well as his agent Steve Kenis, also confirmed his passing to TheWrap and added that a funeral was held for Hauer on Wednesday morning.

Hauer starred opposite Harrison Ford as the ruthless replicant Roy Batty in “Blade Runner” in 1982 after making his American film debut in 1981 with Sylvester Stallone in “Nighthawks.” The actor subsequently appeared in several ’80s action and adventure hits like “Ladyhawke,” “Flesh+Blood,” “The Hitcher” and “Wanted: Dead or Alive.” He also won a Golden Globe for his work in the TV movie “Escape from Sobibor,” about a commandant at a death camp in World War II.

In the untitled drama, only child Julia Beckley has her life turned upside down when it’s revealed that her father, a pioneering Nobel Prize-winning fertility doctor, used his own sperm to conceive dozens of children over the course of his career. Reeling from this explosive revelation, Julia discovers two new sisters — her former best friend and an ex-Olympic athlete. “The Good Doctor” is one of the few shows that puts an autistic character front and center. But the hit Sony TV-ABC series, which returns for its second season on Sept. 24, has another distinction. One of the writers, David Renaud, is a “good doctor” himself off-screen — and uses a wheelchair in daily life.

Canadian-born Renaud, who goes by “Doc” in the writers room, went to medical school to find a cure for paralysis after a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed at 19.

“When I went to medical school, the campus was not even accessible. I can’t tell you how many times I had to go through kitchens or even be carried up stairs to go to class,” Renaud tells Variety.

Shantel VanSanten’s Shooter follow-up sounds out of this world: The Flash and One Tree Hill vet is set to co-star in Ronald D. Moore’s space race drama for Apple, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The as-yet-untitled series imagines a world where the global space race of the 1960s never ended. VanSanten is set to play Karen Baldwin, wife of astronaut Edward Baldwin (Joel Kinnaman).

The CW’s “Black Lightning” has found at least one of its villains for its sophomore season.

Showrunner Salim Akil announced during the show’s panel at Comic-Con on Saturday that Jordan Calloway has been promoted to a series regular for Season 2, where he will portray DC Comics villain Painkiller.

During the first season of The CW superhero drama, Calloway recurred as Khalil Payne, a high school all-American track star until a stray bullet severs his spine. He’s then recruited by Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) who offers him legs for loyalty. Before his injury, Payne was romantically involved with Black Lightning’s youngest daughter, Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain).

When Jason Katims was working on “Friday Night Lights,” the show shot in Austin, Texas, so his writers’ room didn’t need to be on a particular lot in Los Angeles. He ended up at Tribeca West, and that is where his company, True Jack Prods., has remained. “Recently when we wrapped on ‘Rise,’ I looked around and it hadn’t been painted in 10 years and there were too many pictures — it was too much stimuli, in a way,” Katims says. “So we changed it around and tried to minimize a little bit.”
