Big Hero 6 producer Roy Conli has revealed what it will take for a sequel to happen. Loosely based on the Marvel superhero of the same name, Disney’s 2014 animated adaptation proved a box office boon for the studio, bringing in over $657 million in worldwide box office. Not only would the movie go on to spawn two spinoff television shows, 2017’s Big Hero 6: The Series and 2022’s Baymax!, but it would also inspire a manga adaptation and multiple video games.

Ahead of Disneynature’s upcoming documentary movie Tiger, Screen Rant spoke with Conli and asked whether there were any plans for another big screen follow-up to his 2014 animated hit. While no plans for a Big Hero Six sequel exist, Conli revealed that he “always secretly urge[s]” original co-director Don Hall to return to the property. Ahead of the premiere of “The Night Agent” Season 2, Genesis Rodriguez could soon be joining Season 3.

Variety has learned from sources that Rodriguez is currently in talks for a role in Season 3, which was formally ordered at Netflix back in October. Exact character details are currently under wraps.

Reps for Netflix declined to comment.

This would be the latest spy thriller show in which Rodriguez will star. She currently appears in Season 2 of the Paramount+ series “Lioness” and recently starred in the Kevin Smith feature “The 4:30 Movie.” Her other recent credits include the shows “Neon,” “The Umbrella Academy,” “Time After Time,” and “Big Hero 6: The Series,” while her film credits include “Tusk,” “Casa de mi Padre,” “Man on a Ledge,” and “Run All Night.”

The Percy Jackson Season 2 ensemble cast continues to expand. Timothy Simons, best known for his role as Jonah Ryan in the HBO comedy series Veep, has become the latest addition to Season 2 of Percy Jackson.

According to Variety, Simons has joined the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 in the recurring guest star role of Tantalus. The character is described as "sardonic, manipulative, openly hostile, and rarely in a good mood seeing as he is cursed with eternal hunger and thirst, but can never eat or drink. Tantalus has been released from imprisonment in the Underworld to become the interim Activities Director at Camp Half-Blood, having replaced Chiron (Glynn Turman) who is under suspicion of having ties to Kronos."

While Big Hero 6 has spawned two spinoff television series, the 2014 animated movie has yet to receive a proper theatrical sequel. Roy Conli, a producer on some of Disney's biggest animated hits, including Big Hero 6, recently revealed why a sequel has not been produced yet.

Speaking with Screen Rant to promote the Disneynature documentary, Tiger, Conli shared that Don Hall, who co-directed Big Hero 6 with Chris Williams, is the one preventing a sequel from being made, explaining that it was Hall's idea to adapt the eponymous comic, and it should also be his decision whether there is a sequel or not. Since Walt Disney Pictures Animation first debuted “Big Hero 6” in 2014, the movie’s intrepid inventor Hiro, his adorable robot companion Baymax, and their team of Stem-enhanced superheroes have been regular fixtures within the larger Disney pop-culture ecosystem.

Despite recent reports, however, Hiro, Baymax and the rest of the “Big Hero 6” crew are not currently set to make their live-action debut within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Variety has confirmed with a source at the studio.

Deadline reports that Nickelodeon and Mattel are teaming up to develop an all-new animated series adaptation along with a live-action TV movie. The network plans to premiere both Monster High adaptations in 2022.

The new Monster High animated series will follow popular characters like Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, and Frankie Stein as they "navigate the hilarity of high school in the hallowed halls of Monster High." Disney Xd’s “Big Hero 6: The Series” will conclude with the currently airing third season, the network announced Thursday.

The final run of episodes will begin airing Monday, Feb. 1, with the series finale set to air on Feb. 15.

The finale, titled “Krei-oke Night / The Mascot Upshot,” will see Krei enlisting Big Hero 6 to help launch his latest invention, a karaoke machine, in the first half. The second half sees the mascots deciding to add a new member to their family, presenting Hiro with an opportunity to defeat them once and for all.

The decision to end the series comes on the heels of last year’s announcement that a new “Big Hero 6” spinoff series is in the works at Disney+. “Baymax!” will be among Disney Animation’s first-ever original series and is slated for a 2022 premiere.

“Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix, the streaming service said Friday.

The first season of family-friendly series from DreamWorks Animation launched Sept. 18. Watch a teaser for the second season of the animated show, coming in 2021, above.

“Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” takes place within the same timeline as the 2015 film but sees the dinosaur rampage through the eyes of six teenagers who are in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. When dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are unable to reach the outside world and will quickly go from strangers, to friends, to family as they band together to survive.

Season 2 of “Camp Cretaceous” “will find the stranded campers struggling to survive on Isla Nublar as the series charges forward beyond the events of the ‘Jurassic World’ film.”

Boom! Studios comic “Lumberjanes,” created by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters and Grace Ellis, is in the works at HBO Max as an animated series.

Comic book news site Cbr.com first reported news of the television adaptation on Monday, after noting that Stevenson’s speaker bio for a Children’s Media Association panel noted that she had sold the project to the nascent WarnerMedia-owned streaming service.

According to Boom! Studios, “Lumberjanes” is about five friends — Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley — at Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types, who are “determined to have an awesome summer together…and they’re not gonna let a magical quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way!”

New York Comic-Con, taking place virtually Oct. 8-11, has announced a number of key film and TV panels including early looks at Universal/Blumhouse’s Nov. 13 release Freaky, Sony’s April 23 theatrical release Monster Hunter and notable turnouts by Joe and Anthony Russo and Tencious D. The third season of “Big Hero 6: The Series” will premiere Sept. 21 on Disney Xd and DisneyNow. The new season will feature two 11-minute stories and follow the Big Hero 6 team as they face off against Noodle Burger Boy, in order to save San Fransokyo. The Emmy-nominated series is voiced by K-pop stars Nichkhun Horvejkul and Jae Park, as well as guest stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Nichole Bloom. It is produced by Disney Television Animation.

L.A.'s Finest Season 2 has a new premiere date, and there's good news for fans.

The entire season -- all 13 episodes -- will be available on Spectrum Wednesday, September 9.

The second season was postponed at the last minute back in June due to civil unrest following the killing of George Floyd by police officers.

Fox is launching its first digital short series. The network has given an eight-episode series order to “Bucket List Bistro,” hosted by Christy Carlson Romano (“Kim Possible”).

The show, premieres Thursday, Aug. 27, will run on Hulu and Fox’s YouTube channel. New episodes will continue to roll out every Thursday through the fall.

“Bucket List Bistro” is the first original series coming from Fox’s “Taste of Fox” YouTube channel, which features clips and bonus features from the network’s culinary series like “Masterchef” and “Hell’s Kitchen,” as well as food-centered content from Fox stars. “Bucket List Bistro” is the first short not related to programming on Fox’s lineup.

“Bucket List Bistro” will feature Romano and her family as she creates international dishes and recipes from her “travel bucket list.” According to Fox, the show was inspired by Carlson “being stuck working from home due to Covid-19 and being a parent of young children.

Two of L.A.’s Finest are returning for duty next month. Spectrum Originals is making the entire 13-episode second season of its Bad Boys offshoot available to watch On Demand beginning Wednesday, Sept. 9, TVLine has learned.

The new season was originally slated to bow in June, but it was pushed back in the wake of civil unrest sparked by police violence that led to George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s deaths earlier this year.

ABC’s venerable soap General Hospital leads all shows and CBS and Amazon Prime Video top all networks in nominations for the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which were unveiled Thursday. Winners will be revealed June 26 during a live virtual ceremony on CBS, returning the awards show to broadcast primetime for the first time since 2011.

General Hospital scored a total of 23 noms, edging rivals NBC’s Days of Our Lives (22 noms) and CBS’ Young and the Restless (21) and The Bold and the Beautiful (13). The digital soaps followed, led by Netflix’s Eastsiders and Amazon Prime’s Studio City both with eight noms apiece.

All four broadcast soaps are up for the top drama series honor, while Eastsiders and Studio City are joined by Amazon Prime’s After Forever, The Bay The Series and Dark/Web in the top digital drama race.

Yesterday I wrote up on the names of films and TV shows that would be leaving Netflix over the month of March. Now, the circle of life streaming services dictates that today I bring you the names of films and TV shows that will be joining the new kid on the block, Disney Plus. Some of these titles will be familiar to those who read the previous piece, too, and they at least start out easily recognizable.
