Big Hero 6 producer Roy Conli has revealed what it will take for a sequel to happen. Loosely based on the Marvel superhero of the same name, Disney’s 2014 animated adaptation proved a box office boon for the studio, bringing in over $657 million in worldwide box office. Not only would the movie go on to spawn two spinoff television shows, 2017’s Big Hero 6: The Series and 2022’s Baymax!, but it would also inspire a manga adaptation and multiple video games.
Ahead of Disneynature’s upcoming documentary movie Tiger, Screen Rant spoke with Conli and asked whether there were any plans for another big screen follow-up to his 2014 animated hit. While no plans for a Big Hero Six sequel exist, Conli revealed that he “always secretly urge[s]” original co-director Don Hall to return to the property. The name of the Paramount+ spy thriller series changes from Special Ops: Lioness to simply Lioness in season 2.

While Big Hero 6 has spawned two spinoff television series, the 2014 animated movie has yet to receive a proper theatrical sequel. Roy Conli, a producer on some of Disney's biggest animated hits, including Big Hero 6, recently revealed why a sequel has not been produced yet.
Speaking with Screen Rant to promote the Disneynature documentary, Tiger, Conli shared that Don Hall, who co-directed Big Hero 6 with Chris Williams, is the one preventing a sequel from being made, explaining that it was Hall's idea to adapt the eponymous comic, and it should also be his decision whether there is a sequel or not. "You know, we're celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Big Hero 6 this year," Conli said. "It's interesting because it is really up to Don whether he wants to make a sequel to that. Netflix's Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources brings back some actors and characters from the original series, but others in the Human Resources cast make their debut in the spinoff. Human Resources has various returning characters from Big Mouth, such as Maury, Connie, Mona, and Tito, but it also introduces new monsters, starting with Emmy the lovebug. While hormone monsters are still central to the show, other monsters take center stage, too, including shame wizards, logic rocks, ambition gremlins, and even need monsters. Human Resources sees the monsters in their individual working relationships with the humans assigned to them, but it also shows teamwork when their humans are particularly overwhelmed.
Contrary to the original show, Human Resources does not only focus on puberty and all the different feelings involved with it, as the humans managed by the monsters tend to be adults. The spinoff also focuses a lot more on the monsters’ personal lives,...

The archeological annals of Dead Pilots Society, a podcast that excavates unaired sitcom pilots from studio and network limbo, exemplify the love and labor that goes into creating television. Dead Pilots Society rescues comedies that the studio system left on the cutting room floor and proves both an apt and entertaining lens through which to explore a handful of the frustrations that the Writers Guild of America has brought to the picket line.
Presented by television writers Andrew Reich and Ben Blacker, Dead Pilots Society invites all-star casts to stage readings of comedy pilots that were developed by networks and streamers but ultimately shelved, never making it to air. Though an exuberant celebration of sitcom storytelling, the double-edged sword of Dead Pilots Society can strike when audiences get introduced to shows that would rank among their favorite comedies in a Sliding Doors universe where they were produced.

Original Matilda star Mara Wilson struggled with early fame as a child star due to fans sexualizing her.
In an interview with The Guardian, Wilson opened up about her time as an in-demand child actor in such '90s hits as Mrs. Doubtfire, Miracle on 34th Street and Danny DeVito's Matilda film adaptation. Though Wilson admits she felt "safe" on film sets thanks to her mother and the successful directors she worked with, that did not shield her from older fans who made inappropriate passes at her in the early days of the internet. "I had people sending me inappropriate letters and posting things about me online," Wilson recalled. "I made the mistake of Googling myself when I was 12 and saw things that I couldn't unsee."

Mara Wilson disappeared from the public eye not long after 1996's Matilda. Wilson is one of the most memorable child actors from the 1990s, thanks in large part to roles in Mrs. Doubtfire and the 1994 Miracle On 34th Street remake. But of course, the role that stands out the most in Wilson's acting career is that of the titular character in Matilda.
As a child, Wilson was working with industry legends like Martin Short, Danny DeVito, and Robin Williams. She won a Young Artist Award in 1996 for her role in 1996's Matilda movie and another a year later for A Simple Wish. The star also appeared at the 1995 Academy Awards on the red carpet and as a presenter with Tim Curry. During a 1997 interview on The Rosie O'Donnell Show, the host praised Wilson for having so many acting roles under her belt at only 10 years old. But while this was...

Last Year’s Winner: “Rick and Morty”
Still Eligible: No.
Hot Streak: The Best Animated Program category hasn’t seen a repeat winner since the category was divided into “One Hour or Less” and “More Than One Hour” divisions, and “South Park” took home the latter prize in 2008 (for its “Imaginationland” episodes) and the former in 2009 (for “Margaritaville”). That being said, “Rick and Morty” has won both times it was nominated (in 2018 and 2020), so one could argue it’s a dominant force whenever it’s eligible.
Fun Fact: “The Simpsons” and “South Park” are the only two programs to win more than two trophies in this category. The iconic Fox series has 11 wins (most recently in 2019) while Comedy Central’s landmark program has five wins (with the last coming in 2013). With one more win, still-active shows like “Bob’s Burgers” and “Rick and Morty” could become the third to join these elite ranks.

The Disney+ series takes place after the events of “Monsters, Inc.,” when the power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates 10 times more energy than screams.
“Monsters at Work” will premiere on Wednesday, July 7.
The series stars Ben Feldman as Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (Mift), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.

Since Walt Disney Pictures Animation first debuted “Big Hero 6” in 2014, the movie’s intrepid inventor Hiro, his adorable robot companion Baymax, and their team of Stem-enhanced superheroes have been regular fixtures within the larger Disney pop-culture ecosystem.
Despite recent reports, however, Hiro, Baymax and the rest of the “Big Hero 6” crew are not currently set to make their live-action debut within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Variety has confirmed with a source at the studio.
It’s understandable why there would be so much anticipation for “Big Hero 6” to join the MCU. After Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009, the Disney Animation Studios team hit upon the rather obscure Marvel comics series “Big Hero 6” — which first appeared in 1998 — as a title ripe for adaptation. Disney, however, made several major changes. Rather that setting in Japan like in the comics, for example, the animated feature was set instead in...
