Filming has begun for Schitts Creek actor Scott Anthony Cavalheiro's directorial debut film, Plan C, starring Claire Cavalheiro, Daniel DeSanto and Vivica A. Fox.

While Cavalheiro is best known for his role as Miguel in Schitt's Creek, according to Variety, he's moving into the director's chair for a new crime thriller called Plan C. The film will tell the tale of Claire and Danny, played by Claire Cavalheiro (from Man Seeking Woman) and Daniel DeSanto (from Mean Girls), as they are on the lam after a robbery gone wrong. Joining them is veteran actor Vivica A. Fox, whose storied acting career includes playing Jasmine Dubrow in the original Independence Day and Vernita Green in Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2. When the adult animated series returns for its sophomore run, Velma (voiced by Mindy Kaling, who also executive-produces the show) will find herself investigating another spooky mystery in Crystal Cove.

“Snowpiercer” producer Tomorrow Studios has struck a first-look deal with Frank Spotnitz’s London-based production company Big Light Prods.

Under the deal, Tomorrow Studios will tap into Big Light’s network of established and emerging writers and its pursuit of IP for projects to produce together under one development slate.

Big Light Prods. specializes in returning and limited dramas for the global market. The company, which has built up a rep as a transatlantic powerhouse, has a slate that includes “Medici” for Netflix and Italian public broadcaster Rai; “The Man in the High Castle” for Amazon’s Prime Video; “Devils” for Sky; and “The Indian Detective” for Canada’s CTV.

Spotnitz — who was an executive producer and writer on sci-fi drama “The X-Files” — and creative director Emily Feller will oversee the partnership for Big Light.

In the film, a woman and a non-verbal girl serving as live-in caregivers are invited to stay in a house where their every desire is fulfilled, as long as they mend mysterious clothing for fairytale creatures.

Sandhu will play Leila, the woman traveling with rebellious 12-year-old Nadia and a suitcase of her belongings, who is desperate for a safe place to call home. Canadian comedian Russell Peters (“The Indian Detective”) will executive produce half-hour series “Late Bloomer,” featuring fellow Canadian comic Jasmeet Singh Raina (Aka Jus Reign), with independent production company Pier 21 Films.

The show is currently in development at Canadian public broadcaster CBC.

As Jus Reign, Raina has more than 167 million YouTube views with 974,000 subscribers and more than a million Facebook fans.

Inspired by his own real-life experiences, “Late Bloomer” will focus on Raina’s journey navigating his new-found internet fame, dating, spirituality, culture and his dysfunctional, yet loving, family. As a first-generation Indo-Canadian, his identity is constantly questioned as he struggles to find the balance between Eastern customs centered around community and the Western ideal of individualism.

Exclusive: Sid Gentle Films is looking to build on the international smash hit Killing Eve with another crime adaptation. The British producer has secured the rights to Watching You, the first installment in Swedish author Jan Arnald’s latest series of detective novels, Deadline can reveal.

Better known by his pen name Arne Dahl, the Scandinavian writer first published Watching You in 2016 and the novel tells the story of Stockholm-based detective, Sam Berger, and his attempts to find a serial killer following the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl. Hall is the former COO of Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions, where he oversaw strategic partnerships and financing for entertainment projects.

Hall’s appointment follows the recent hiring of Dimistra Tsingou as the company’s president of scripted, and the promotion of Lucas Ochoa to chief creative officer.

Hall will oversee Pulse’s scripted TV and film production globally including upcoming Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery helmed series “Gangs of London” for Sky and HBO Cinemax, and “Atomic Bazaar,” written by Greg Burke.
