Major anime juggernauts spawn countless spinoffs annually, yet only a handful of them break through the mainstream. Boruto and Dragon Ball Gt are all popular alternatives to their legendary predecessors, but even fan-favorite shonen have obscure spinoffs, too. And it's a shame — spinoffs sometimes boast more creativity, heart, and artistic ambition than their original counterparts, their creators freed of inhibitions and ready to experiment.
From high school comedy re-imaginings to prequels retroactively making minor characters major, these stealthy spinoffs showcase what happens when creators get permission to play outside franchise guardrails. While casual viewers dismiss them as cash grabs, savvy fans recognize how frequently these "minor" works take bigger creative swings than their more famous counterparts.

Battles are without a doubt the main focus of the Pokémonfranchise. Yet, the duels can sometimes become so brutal that it's hard to remember the franchise is technically geared toward children. Various duels, like Pikachu's interaction with its clone during Pokémon: The First Movie are extremely difficult to watch. While this level of brutality is rare, it has not been omitted from the franchise entirely.
Pokémon are regularly brought past their limits in devastating displays of brutality. Many of these moments demonstrate how dangerous Pokémon battles can be, like the beginning of Bea's rematch with Ash. However, many fans appreciate these moments for expressing a darker side to the normally purposefully childish franchise. Even though battles are the crux of the Pokémon franchise, they can sometimes get uncomfortably ruthless.

Pokémon is the biggest franchise in the world, and part of its appeal is in just how many incredibly cute creatures it has introduced. Currently, the series has introduced over 1,000 Pokémon, and though their designs range from scary to cool to purposefully gross, it's difficult to deny just how many Pokémon are outright adorable.
Given the sheer number of Pokémon, it's difficult to decide which are the most adorable. In addition to just how aesthetically appealing each ranked Pokémon is, there are also elements of considering their impact in both the game series as well as the anime. Ultimately, part of what makes Pokémon so special is how fans can pick and choose their favorites. Not every Pokémon can appeal to every fan, and that's okay. However, the following Pokémon are so adorable and notable that it's difficult not to rank them among the cutest Pokémon of all time.

The release date for Pokémon's Gen 10 games can really be predicted, but they may not arrive soon due to the regular three-year release schedule between generations. The most likely release date for Pokémon Gen 10 is November 22, 2025, following the pattern of previous generations and the three-year gap between releases. However, this is not set in stone and subject to change. The success of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may lead to an extended life cycle for the games, potentially delaying the release of Gen 10 games.
Predictions for the release date for Pokémon’s Gen 10 games can be made fairly easily, though they may not arrive as soon as some fans expect. New generations are always kicked off with new mainline releases, and these happen every so often, separated by a few years. These titles are usually set in new regions and introduce a series of never-before-seen Pokémon for players to capture, train,...

The Pokémon TV app, which allowed fans to watch the Pokémon anime for free, will be discontinued, sparking hope for a single streaming service for the entire series. The app will no longer be available for download, but current users may still be able to use it until the shutdown date. The discontinuation of the app may potentially lead to a new streaming solution for the Pokémon anime, with fans speculating that Netflix is a likely candidate.
The long-time home for the Pokémon anime, the Pokémon TV app, was announced to be discontinued in the coming months by The Pokémon Company. While no one is quite sure what this means yet, many fans have sparked hope that it might finally result in the entire series being streamable on one service for the first time ever.

Although the games came first, there's a strong chance that 90s Pokémon fans were initially introduced to the franchise via the anime. Some never went further, choosing to simply stick to the beloved TV series, however, with Ash's tenure now coming to an end, the anime-only fans' attention may turn to the games for the first time. But with a vast array of titles across multiple devices, it can be difficult to know the best entry point into the games.
Since the original Pokémon Red and Green games were released in Japan in 1996 (known as Pokémon Red and Blue in the West), the franchise has grown to include nearly 40 titles in the core series alone. Each Generation has unique characteristics that have slowly built up the Pokémon world into what it is today. Most Pokémon Generations have also added battle gimmicks to keep the franchise feeling fresh. However, this can...

The wait is finally over, Trainers.
As of today, Pokémon Sword and Shield have been released into the wild across the globe, ready and waiting to take fans on further adventures in Game Freak’s whimsical world. Excluding last year’s casual-oriented Let’s Go! spinoffs, the pair are considered landmark entries, of sorts, in the RPG series for being the first to ditch Nintendo’s handheld consoles in favor of the Switch’s more powerful hardware, but the transition hasn’t gone off of without a hitch.
We’ll refrain from revisiting those recent controversies yet again (see here for further details), as Pokéfans still intending to pick up either game in the near future have an important decision to make. As with past Pokémon Generations, both Sword and Shield offer the same core experience but distinguish themselves with a number of small but impactful differences. There is, of course, a...
