It’s been quite a journey for the long-running series both for its cast and its fans who have helped the show evade cancellation twice before.

Exclusive: Hulu and 20th Television‘s Prison Break pilot has cast Clayton Cardenas, Jr Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock as series regulars.

The project reunites Cardenas and Bourne with Mayans M.C. co-creator Elgin James, who is leading the efforts on the Prison Break pilot as writer and executive producer. Bourne also starred in James’ feature debut in the indie drama Little Birds (2011).

They join series leads Emily Browning, Lukas Gage and Drake Rodger.

23 years ago, S.W.A.T. made its return to the screen, relaunching an action franchise that had been largely forgotten since its original run as a TV series in 1975. The original show followed a specialized police force in California, tackling organized crime, terrorism and drug trafficking. Swat has had a long, singular journey. No show can lay claim to being canceled twice and brought back twice. It was the third cancelation, however, that proved to be the killer. It's unlikely Swat will be able to bounce back a third time, but what it can do is given fans a series finale they will never forget.

CBS confirmed that the two part series finale for Swat will air on Friday, May 16. It will mark the end of an era, but the synopsis for the finale reveals that there will be plenty of action to make it worth our while. NCIS seemed like one of those franchises. You know? One that would be able to set a spinoff in any setting, with any cast of characters, and be to secure a decade long run on CBS. Well, turns out that is not the case, and NCIS: Hawai'i was the proof. The show was canceled after only three seasons.

But why? Fans seemed to be over the moon for the cast, and Hawai'i even made the tactical move of bringing in a beloved NCIS: Los Angeles character to boost its ties to the rest of the franchise? In what is shocking news for fans, Netflix announced the cancelation of its much-loved series The Recruitin early March. Led and produced by Noah Centineo, the series made its debut back in 2022 and received a positive reaction from viewers, leading to renewal for a second season. The show's shorter second season was released in January 2025 and performed even better than its predecessor, scoring 92% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.

Given the success of the series, many believed that they could expect Centineo's Owen Hendricks to return for a third season. After all, the series did make its way onto the streamers' Global Top 10 charts. However, dashing all hope and evidently viewing things in a different light, Netflix has decided to cancel the series instead of renewing it. Although a bitter pill for fans of the series, The Recruit's cancelation may allow Netflix to add another action drama, S.W.A.T., onto the platform in its stead.

Based on the novel of the same name, “Long Bright River” features Amanda Seyfried in an all-new on-screen uniform for the Emmy-winning actress.

Seyfried stars as Mickey Fitzpatrick, a Philly beat cop dedicated to solving the mysterious murders targeting young women on the Avenue, many of whom struggle with addiction and turn to sex work to survive. CBS’s veteran sitcom The Neighborhood has been around since 2018 and the series has just been renewed for an eighth and final season on CBS. And while fans will definitely be sad that the series is going to be over soon, the fact that CBS gave the cast a crew another season is definitely good news.

The final season will air during the 2025-26 television season and will conclude the story that started seven years ago. The news comes as a sign of relief, as the series was not present on CBS’s early renewal list, which had some fans worried.

Following the recent cancelations of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, and S.W.A.T., some fans were worried that the Monday series would also end up being canceled rather abruptly, which is why this information will surely make a lot of fans sigh with relief.

Last week, audiences were caught off-guard when CBS made the divisive decision to axe its fan-favorite series,S.W.A.T. for the third time. That’s right, after canceling the title twice before, it seems like the third time's a charm — or maybe the opposite of that. In the days following the announcement, fans took to social media to share their disgust and bewilderment behind the network’s decision. And they aren’t alone. Stars of the procedural, including leading man, Shemar Moore, have certainly voiced their disappointment with the cancelation, although at this point it seems that it might be falling onto deaf ears.

FBI International Canceled

Late last month, CBS announced the renewal of nine of its shows, including newbie series NCIS Origins and Matlock, as well as veteran series NCIS, Ghosts, Justin Hartley’s Tracker, and Fire Country.

This left a few shows like FBI Most Wanted, FBI International, and Shemar Moore’s S.W.A.T. on the bubble, waiting to find out their fates. Well, the bad news is in. All three shows have been canceled.

This week on CBS’ FBI (Tuesday, 8/7c), a romantic getaway for Oa and Gemma goes off the rails — perhaps literally? — due to the actions of a team of hijackers.

In the 14th episode of Season 7, titled “Hitched,” Special Agent Omar Adom “Oa” Zidan (played by original cast member Zeeko Zaki) and his girlfriend of over a year, Gemma Brooks (Billions‘ Comfort Clinton, in her sixth FBI appearance), are heading to Niagara Falls on a passenger train when it is hijacked and rerouted.

CBS’s Swat just got canceled again, but the series’ star hasn’t given up hope. Shemar Moore posted on Instagram asking Netflix to consider picking up the drama for a ninth season. Moore also pitched it to NBC, ABC, and Fox, suggesting the cast and crew still have a lot of love for the show, as does the series’ passionate fan base.

CBS previously canceled the police drama after season six, before reversing the decision and giving it a seventh season. It earned an eighth season, which premiered in October 2024.

The eighth, and now final, season continues with episode 15 (of 22) airing on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10pm Et/Pt. Maja Vrvilo directed from a script by Matthew T. Brown.

After eight seasons, the Shemar Moore-led CBS police procedural, S.W.A.T., will be leaving the air. Although it was previously canceled twice before, this time it seems that CBS has officially canceled the series, along with two other shows,FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International.

The S.W.A.T. team is currently filming No. episode 20 of 22 for its eighth and final season. January 31 marked the show’s winter return and at that time, the series’ executive producer Shawn Ryan said, “It’s been called the final season for the last three or four seasons, hasn’t it?” In January, CBS did not market the eighth season as the last for S.W.A.T.

CBS has made some interesting and difficult decisions as of late, with the official axing of the eight-season-running series, S.W.A.T., following two other prior cancellations, as well as recently bidding adieu to both FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. But, there’s one series that really perturbed fans when it was chopped from the network’s slate after the insanely popular procedural, Blue Bloods, clocked out for the last time back in December. News broke last spring that the show’s 14th season would be its last, blowing the minds of audiences everywhere who thought Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and the rest of the cast had a really good thing going. But, after months of desperately pushing for CBS to undo their questionable move, the network announced that — while fans won’t get their precious Blue Bloods back — they will get a continuation of the story.

On the heels of S.W.A.T.‘s cancellation by CBS — presumably final after a back-and-forth that began in May 2023 — the cast of the Shemar Moore vehicle voiced that the series finale will leave viewers “wanting so much more.”

Speaking to TVLine, actress Anna Enger Ritch, who plays officer Zoe Powell, said of the closing installment: “It will make you not want this show to end. You’ll want to keep watching what happens. There are so many avenues and directions to go, so many stories to tell, so many personal things… It will leave you wanting so much more.”

Meanwhile, her co-star Annie Ilonzeh — a new addition this season as a recurring cast member — added, “You go, ‘Oh my gosh, that just happened!’ And, ‘Wait, I need more!’ We definitely don’t button anything up. We leave you guessing and very curious for more.”

Whereas S.W.A.T.‘s May 2024 “series finale” — which was written and filmed before the show got un-cancelled for a second time — tied things up in a neat enough bow, it sounds like the CBS procedural’s next swan song will really leave fans clamoring for more.

This is not the first time that S.W.A.T. Has been cancelled. In May 2023 CBS cancelled the series. However, about a week later, CBS chanced their minds so they could wrap up the stories that were left hanging.

During the past two years, Sony Pictures Television has managed to secure financing for S.W.A.T. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case this time.

The actor, who has led Swat for eight seasons, took to his Instagram Thursday night to react to CBS canceling the police procedural again. The network has canceled and un-canceled the show twice before.

CBS is officially confirmed to dish up another new episode of its hit crime/drama show Swat tonight, March 7, 2025, and it will feature the arrival of some very violent robbers who are trying to clean a certain museum vault out and more. CBS' official episode 14 press release is telling us that this episode is officially labeled/titled, "The Santa Clara." This episode is going to feature violent robbers, Hondo, the 20-Squad, Tan and more in action. The first spoiler scoop is talking about the museum vault heist we mentioned earlier in this article. Again, the robbers will be very violent, and they'll be looking to make off with almost a billion dollars worth of treasure that was recovered from a ship that sank.

S.W.A.T. has been cancelled by CBS, but that doesn't mean lead actor Shemar Moore is finished. The charismatic star took to social media to plead his case to Netflix. Well, it's more like he cranked up the hype machine. And good for him.

The streaming business is obviously pretty cutthroat, as even wildly popular shows are cut after just one season. One cancellation in particular had me seriously considering dumping the top streaming service. Jettisoning The Brothers Sun was a terrible decision, and I certainly wasn't the only person who thought this.
