Trivia
The sacramental seal of the confessional is so strict that a priest cannot reveal knowledge of the confession or even act on information learned from a confession. The priest would be able neither to go to the police in change to his ordinary plans nor say "I know, but I can't tell," without a violation of the seal. This episode exemplifies why that is the case.
