The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, January 17, can’t help noticing that time is running out for Sharon. Now that Jordan and Ian have split, who gets custody of their hostage?
Next on The Young and the Restless
Sharon (Sharon Case) went from thinking that she murdered Heather (Vail Bloom) to wondering if she was about to be murdered herself in the blink of an eye. She used to think Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was the worst person she had to deal with, but, boy, Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Ian (Ray Wise) proved her wrong!
Ian wanted Sharon to drown in her car, and he wanted to frame Phyllis for it. Jordan had something else in mind. She locked Sharon up. And seems to have forgotten her. Sharon spent some time talking to herself—vis-a-vis a return visit from Ghost Cameron (Linden Ashby)—and now she’s decided to stop playing the victim.

We should have expected a nostalgia-heavy season in honor of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary. But nostalgia comes in many packages. Sometimes it’s a sweet remembrance of the good times we’ve shared. Sometimes it’s revisiting the past in desperate attempts to recreate old glories. Last night, SNL served up its own version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, inviting poor Michael Keaton to once again repeat earlier successes with diminishing results.
The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ of Monologues
Keaton kicked off his fourth hosting appearance by promoting his not-nearly-as-good-as-the-original Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He says his movie is “coming out now” even though it’s been in theaters since Labor Day. It’s all an excuse for Mikey Day and Andy Samberg (he got written out of the political cold open) to dress up like Beetlejuice and persuade Keaton to do their favorite character.
Cute, guys. But it’s a straight rehash of...

The Spanish guitar goddesses in Hinds have been through it lately, and they bet that you have, too. They begin their fabulously resilient Viva Hinds with “Hi, How Are You,” a garage-rock strut with some call-and-response about shaking off some bad luck. Ana Perrotte sings, “Hey, you okay?” Carlotta Cosials replies, “I’ve been better tbh.” Viva Hinds is their fourth and finest album, a joyful, brash half-hour of swaggering tunes about facing up to heartache by turning it into a sarcastic joke, with guitars cranked up all the way.

Spanish indie rock outfit Hinds have announced a new album, Viva Hinds, which is set to drop September 6th via Lucky Number. The band has also confirmed a North American tour and dropped the Beck-featuring single “Boom Boom Back.”
Viva Hinds serves as somewhat of a rebirth for the act, as songwriters Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote faced numerous Hinds-related struggles throughout the last few years. They split with their management, label, drummer, and bassist, succumbing to something of a creative rut as a result. Four years after their last release The Prettiest Curse, though, Cosials and Perrote are set to return with a brand new project that seeks to rejuvenate Hinds and, notably, houses the band’s first Spanish language songs.

There’s been a lot of defecation slung around the past few weeks in Johnny Depp’s ongoing 50 million defamation trial against Amber Heard. Tonight, Saturday Night Live successfully threw some of its own against the wall to see what would stick in the cold open.
“I felt very very sad,” said a bearded and ponytailed Kyle Mooney as a grinning Depp on the stand when asked by a lawyering Aidy Bryant what was his reaction to discovering “fecal matter in your bed.” Hearing frequent objections from cast member Heidi Gardner as Heard’s main lawyer Elaine Bredehoft over the messy line of questioning, Judge Penny Azcarte, played on SNL by a bespectacled Cecily Strong, put the whole cold open and the whole real-life trial in perspective.
“I’ll allow it because it does sound fun, and this trial is for fun,” Strong’s Judge Azcarte exclaimed in what was...

Film FestivalArgentine director Monica Lairana, whose film is in the competition category of Iffk, says it is wrong of culture to consider the bodies of old people as not beautiful.CrisStill from 'The Bed'; courtesy: iffk.inThe film-still on top of the description shows an old couple in bed – a man lying down, looking at the woman sitting by his feet. They appear comfortable in their minimal clothes in the familiar insides of a home they’ve lived together in for years - decades. If it disturbs the aesthetics of a viewer, the director Monica Lairana has meant to do just that. To show what's not shown, to make you ask questions about your prejudices. Sitting at the lobby of Hotel Keys in Thiruvananthapuram, waiting patiently for her ride, Monica, director of The Bed, says in her country, Argentina, old people are neglected like that. She throws her...

Lou Reed was a rock & roll grandmaster whose catalog includes some of the most potent recordings ever made. First with the Velvet Underground, and then as a solo artist, he made music ranging from the wildly experimental to the perfectly straightforward. But Reed was a storyteller above all, waxing poetic about the full, frightening spectrum of human emotions years before others would dare. With their trans heroines, drug narratives, love stories, elegies, guitar jams and drone-scapes, he made LPs that could be flawed. But they always showed a mind two moves ahead.
