Jaume Collet-Serra may not regularly come to mind when one thinks of modern A-list directors, but the man's name probably deserves more respect. From turning mid-budget Liam Neeson thrillers like "The Commuter" into solid hits to directing massive-scale franchise plays like Disney's "Jungle Cruise," the man has done it all, and often does it well. Collet-Serra cut his teeth in the horror genre, a genre he hasn't worked in for quite some time -- but he's back.

At long last, Collet-Serra has made his welcome return to horror with Blumhouse's upcoming "The Woman in the Yard." I had the good fortune of visiting the set of the film last year, with the production taking place just outside of Athens, Georgia at Athena Studios, a little over an hour outside of Atlanta. Collet-Serra, who previously directed 2005's "House of Wax" remake and the fan-favorite "Orphan," appeared to be in his element.

If you watch movies and are subscribed to Netflix, there's a decent chance you watched the thriller "Carry-On" at some point in the last few months. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for his Liam Neeson action joints such as "Non-Stop" and "The Commuter," it quickly rocketed up the streamer's charts, becoming a smash hit. It also, somewhat indirectly, paved the way for his new film.

After directing horror films like "Orphan" and "House of Wax" earlier in his career, Collet-Serra is returning to the genre with Blumhouse's "The Woman in the Yard." The film, which has largely been shrouded in mystery, represents the director's first horror effort since 2016's "The Shallows." Taking that journey with him is Danielle Deadwyler, whom he collaborated with on "Carry-On" as Elena Cole, the agent trying to get to the bottom of the plot hatched by Jason Bateman's mysterious traveler.

It's official: Dwayne Johnson and Martin Scorsese are making a movie together. The fan-favorite actor has confirmed that he will appear in the Oscar-winning director's upcoming mafia movie, described as Goodfellas meets The Departed.

A Hawaii-set crime thriller, directed by Martin Scorsese and featuring an all-star cast, will see the filmmaker return to the mobster genre once again.

Reports of a new Martin Scorsese project have surfaced, and it looks as though the filmmaker is making a crime caper. According to Deadline, the veteran director will add a new movie about mobsters to a body of work that already includes Goodfellas, Gangs Of New York, Casino, The Departed and The Irishman.

This time around, Hawaii is the location, and Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson, stars of Jungle Cruise, and A24’s upcoming Mma drama, The Smashing Machine, reportedly brought the project to regular collaborators Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. The pair must have liked what they heard because the whole package of story, director and stars is now being shopped around Hollywood and won’t be short of an interested party or two, we’d imagine.

For an actor who played one of the most famous gimmicks in the realm of pro wrestling, Dwayne Johnson’s feats in the realm of acting have been quite underwhelming. This isn’t surprising, as in the past, the WWE icon has prioritized his brand image over the quality of his movies, contributing to several forgettable action features.

However, since the Black Adam debacle, it appears Johnson is going back to his roots, and his potential collaboration with one cinema great might change the infamous narrative surrounding his acting chops forever.

Sarah Shahi has been a big Dan Fogelman fan ever since This Is Us.

When Fogelman debuted his beloved NBC family drama back in 2016, he received an email from a fan. Shahi wrote the showrunner to say that she would do any role on the series, she’d even warm up coffee. She was later cast on his short-lived Fox baseball drama Pitch, but they never met. She would go on to other roles on Chicago Fire and The Rookie, lead Netflix’s Sex/Life, and star in films Black Adam and Red White & Royal Blue. It wasn’t until her audition for Paradise, Fogelman’s next mystery series, that they would finally meet.

“He took one look at me and he remembered. He said, ‘Sarah Shahi, you wrote me the kindest email and I’ve been wanting to meet you ever since,'” she recalls now to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jaume Collet-Serra is keeping the momentum going after the success of his Netflix thriller Carry-On. The filmmaker, known for House of Wax, Orphan, and The Shallows, has lined up his next project—Play Dead, a survival thriller.

Details about the plot remain secret, but sources describe Play Dead as a mix between Don’t Breathe and 1917. Don’t Breathe, directed by Fede Alvarez, is a tense home invasion horror, while 1917, helmed by Sam Mendes, is a gripping war film. This description suggests Play Dead may combine elements of both, possibly blending high-stakes survival with a wartime setting. However, that remains speculation for now.

The screenplay was written by Peter Stanley-Ward and Natalie Conway. The film is being produced by Nocturnal, BoulderLight Pictures, Bad Grey, and Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures.

‘Superman’ set for July 11th release will mark the first Dcu appearance for many superheroes and one of them will be Hawkgirl played by Isabela Merced. We already had the pleasure of seeing Merced in the role both on set images and in the ‘Superman’ trailers and fans noticed something that James Gunn recently confirmed.

Dcu’s Hawkgirl will have organic wings that are naturally a part of her body as opposed to using high-end complicated tech to simulate them.

In the Dceu, Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge in ‘Black Adam’ (2022), had mechanical wings that extended from his suit. These wings were not a natural part of his body but rather advanced Nth metal technology, which is a key element in Hawkman’s comic book history.

This major difference in how Gunn decided to approach the wings could also mark perhaps a different backstory for the character.

Leo Woodall’s lates project, the Apple TV+ series Prime Target, has started to add up on the streamer since its release in January.

The adrenaline-packed series, produced by New Regency with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions, takes viewers deep into the world of complex mathematics as well as how mathematicians give the Nsa reason to monitor them.

Will Smith's Westbrook Studios has made a deal with Noah Centineo to produce and star in a new thriller movie. The announcement comes right after the launch of the second season of Centineo's Netflix series, The Recruit.

Deadline broke the news that Centineo would produce and star in Listen, a thriller that is set to be directed and written by Brian Birch in his feature debut. The film will be made in collaboration with Westbrook Inc. studios, founded by actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Centineo's own Arkhum Productions and Bound Entertainment.Listen will be a "contained thriller that combines suspense and horror through a uniquely sound-driven mystery."

In “Paradise,” Sterling K. Brown stars as Agent Xavier Collins, whose life is turned upside-down when he finds James Marsden’s President Cal Bradford dead during a routine morning.
