The Producers Guild of America has revealed its 2025 nominees for awards in the categories of children’s, shortform and sports programs.

The guild previously revealed its nominees for its documentary award, with TV and film nominations across multiple categories to be revealed on Jan. 10.

The children’s, shortform and sports winners will be announced at the PGA’s nominee events in New York and L.A. in February.

The 2025 Producers Guild Awards is set for Feb. 8 in Los Angeles.

The film, written and directed by filmmaker Ciara Leinaʻala Lacy, has won over 12 awards worldwide, and it marks the first venture into animation for Lacy, an Emmy nominee.

Mbc Studios had unveiled plans for a feature adaptation of Saudi bestseller Travellers’ Hell (Jahim Al-Abirin) by popular writer Osamah Almuslim.

Hana Al-Omair, who directed and co-wrote Netflix’s first original series Whispers, has been tapped to direct the fantasy tale.

Almuslim will adapt the screenplay from his original work, with filming slated to take place in Saudi Arabia in the first half of 2025. The news was announced on the fringes of the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, where Mbc Studios has been out in force this week.

The partnership between Mbc Studios and Almuslim is part of an ongoing agreement to adapt his novels into both television and film.

With close to 30 books to his name, Almuslim has emerged as one of Saudi Arabia’s best-known authors in recent years, with his work focused on horror, fantasy, and suspense genres.

Director Lee Cronin's recent Evil Dead Rise proved to be a big success for Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures (grossing $147 million against its $15-19 million budget), so it was inevitable that another instalment in the iconic horror franchise would enter development sooner rather than later.

Back in February, we got word that Vermin director Sébastien Vaniček had been enlisted to co-write and helm the then untitled project, which was described as a spin-off. This indicated that the movie would not be a direct sequel to Rise, but all plot details are still under wraps for the time being.

Now, Vaniček has taken to Instagram to announce that the movie is officially titled Evil Dead Burn, and will be released at some point in 2026.

Riele Downs (“Henry Danger”), Auli’i’ Cravalho (“Moana”), Asher Angel (“Shazam”), Chosen Jacobs (“It”) and Derek Luke (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) have joined the cast of “Darby Harper Wants You to Know,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.

The project is a 20th Century Studios film for Hulu that just started production.

The story follows Darby Harper, who after suffering a near-death experience as a child is granted the ability to see ghosts. To combat the existential boredom of high school, she runs a side business counseling local spirits in her spare time. When an unexpected occurrence happens between Darby and Capri, the most popular girl at her high school, Darby reluctantly agrees to help her and in the process learns how to fit in with the living world again.

Riele Downs is playing the title role of Darby Harper, replacing Storm Reid who is no longer attached to the project due to a scheduling conflict.

Eddie Vedder has always seemed like a singer inextricably bound to his band. Since the beginnings of Pearl Jam, he has flexed his warm baritone with an intensity or a sensitivity that perfectly matched his fellow musicians’ loose fury and anxious jamming; Vedder’s voice depends on Pearl Jam’s music, and their songs demand his voice. Whenever he has ventured into the wilds of a solo career, he has done so in the least Pearl Jam-y ways possible, whether it was the folkie mandolin musings of “Rise” or the beach-fire serenades of Ukulele Songs.

All Rise‘s court will officially be back in session this June on its new home OWN, it was announced during the show’s virtual Television Critics Assoc. press tour panel on Wednesday.

Simone Missick took to Instagram to reveal that the former CBS series would officially return to the air on OWN in the near future.

The news is welcome, especially for fans who have been waiting for more episodes since May 2021.

Missick suggested the theme of the new episodes will be "new beginnings," and given the network change, we couldn't agree more.

The leading lady also revealed during an Instagram Live with Yaani King Mondschein that something huge is about to go down for the characters.

“Something dramatic happens at the courthouse and somebody might not make it," the star teases.

Misha Green is taking on Lara Croft.

The “Lovecraft Country” and “Underground” creator is set to make her feature directorial debut, writing and directing the next installment of “Tomb Raider” for MGM.

Alicia Vikander will reprise her role as Lara Croft in the sequel to the 2018 action flick, which earned nearly $275M at the global box office.

Green shared her excitement about the project on Twitter, posting a little tease for fans and fellow gamers about the storyline.

“My fav from classic era is Legend & from survival era it’s a tie between Rise & Shadow,” Green wrote. “Who’s as excited as I am for a @TombRaiderMovie!?!?”

Green is on quite the hot streak after last summer’s “Lovecraft Country,“ which was a smash hit for HBO. Green created, directed and served as a writer and executive producer on the show, based on the novel by Matt Ruff, alongside Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams.

Earlier this year, Marvel Comics collaborated with Tsuburaya Productions to bring readers The Rise of Ultraman, a new comic series that introduced the pop culture icon to new fans and delighted longtime Ultraman enthusiasts. AppleTV+ revealed new details about Season 2 of its space drama For All Mankind.

After a dramatic Dancing With the Stars exit, actress Anne Heche revealed what was really going through her head.  On an episode that aired Oct. 5, Anne and her partner Keo Motsepe were eliminated from the competition. The news came shortly after Anne talked about the struggles she faced while dating Ellen DeGeneres, her girlfriend from 1997 to 2000. She opened up about the romance, which was her first public relationship with a woman, after her performance to following her dance to Katy Perry song "Rise." The actress also reportedly did not do press, as is typical for contestants, following the elimination. In a statement to Page Six, Anne revealed...

“In 1997 I met Ellen DeGeneres at the Vanity Fair party, and that was the night that changed my life forever,” said Anne Heche, getting candid on “Dancing with the Stars” about her relationship with the then-sitcom star whose public coming out caused a firestorm but ultimately advanced LGBTQ visibility in entertainment. But Heche paid a heavy price for her openness.

“I was told, if I took Ellen [as my date to the ‘Volcano’ premiere], I would lose my Fox contract.” She did it anyway, and she was ushered out by security before the movie ended and was even uninvited from her own after-party. “The stigma attached to that relationship was so bad that … I did not work in a studio picture for 10 years.” That struggle inspired her week four paso doble to Katy Perry‘s “Rise” in a rainbow-colored costume. CBS’ S.W.A.T. will kick off its fourth season with a postponed — yet more relevant-than-ever — episode that flashes back to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, TVLine has confirmed.

As originally planned out over a year ago, this flashback episode would have closed out Season 3 on April 29, which was the 28th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots (which stemmed from the acquittal of four LAPD officers for usage of excessive force in the arrest and beating of Rodney King). Instead, the episode will now open Season 4, which will arrive later this fall (again airing Wednesdays at 10/9c).
