Fans hoping to see the long-awaited return ofSmallville might be waiting a little longer than they hoped. Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.

Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.

"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

A new DC Universe report reveals how long James Gunn's Superman movie may end up being when the film hits theaters this summer. While the Man of Steel hasn't had a solo film in several years, DC Studios is changing that with the arrival of Gunn's Superman movie in a couple of months. With Superman being one of the most highly-anticipated movies of 2025, many are waiting to learn as much as possible about Clark Kent's cinematic return.

In a new report from The InSneider the outlet claims that the upcoming Superman film with David Corenswet currently has a runtime of 2 hours and 2 minutes. This would make Gunn's Superman movie the shortest of the hero's roster since the sequels to the Christopher Reeve films. At the time of this story's publication, DC Studios has not commented on the Superman runtime report.

Nearly two years have passed since Netflix debuted a new season of Black Mirror, even if it feels like much longer. The streamer has finally unveiled a trailer and new images for the upcoming seventh season, along with announcing an April 10, 2025 premiere date.

“You can expect a mix of genres and styles,” stated series creator Charlie Brooker during the 2024 Geeked Week festival. “We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.”

Among them is the much-anticipated sequel to one of Black Mirror‘s most popular, critically acclaimed episodes, season four’s “USS Callister.” The sequel marks the first time Brooker has ever revisited any of the previous six seasons’ episodes.

The new season of Black Mirror is said to be a return — in more ways than one. In the newly released trailer for Season 7, it looks like more than a few characters and episodes will be revisited, including the now iconic ''USS Callister" episode from Season 4. And according to series creator Charlie Brooker, this new batch of episodes will also be a return to form for fans of the darkly satirical and at-times harrowing anthology series.

Calling the forthcoming season "a little bit Og Black Mirror," Brooker noted that Season 7 — which is slated to hit Netflix on April 10, 2025, goes "back to basics in many ways. They're all sci-fi stories," a welcome change after the past few seasons have focused more on the horror aspect than anything. "There's definitely some horrifying things that occur," he added, "but maybe not in an overt horror-movie way. There's definitely some disturbing content in it.

Black Mirror has finally set a return date and along with the release date announcement, Netflix has dropped a captivating trailer and slew of photos teasing the forthcoming episodes.

The trailer (below) merges the new episodes into one cohesive tease for the dystopian series, set to a foreboding cover of “Dream a Little Dream.” The clips and snippets span genres and introduce the star-studded cast, as creator-writer Charlie Brooker once again plans to tackle predictive sci-fi stories that will touch on AI, human consciousness and technology.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his production company, G-Unit Film and Television, are executive producing a new gangster drama that’s set to star Omar Epps, who is known for his work in films like Juice and Higher Learning, as well as the shows House and Power Book III: Raising Kanan. A24's religious-themed horror flick, Heretic, recently landed on Max after an impressive run in theaters, and it's pulling in massive viewership numbers for the streamer.

Per FlixPatrol, Heretic is the most popular film on Max, just days after landing on the streaming service. The Hugh Grant-led film beat out the Oscar-winning animated film Flow, which ranks second on the list, and the recently added video game adaptation Assassin's Creed, which comes in at third. His statement has led to speculation about a standalone film focused on Groot’s origins and home world. Planet X, known as the home of the Flora Colossus species, has appeared in Marvel comics but has yet to be explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Fast & Furious actor gave a rundown of his work and mentioned a standalone project starring the extraterrestrial sentient tree-like creature.

In a retrospective post, he has now shared surprising new updates on many possible new projects coming down the line, from a new xXx movie, the next Riddick installment, and a possible solo Groot movie from Marvel Studios.

A day after the Oscars ceremony, Diesel took to Instagram to update his followers on a few of his projects, but the one that stood out the most - because previously it was little more than a passing wish-list suggestion - was Planet X, which would be a new solo Marvel movie featuring Guardians of the Galaxy favorite, Groot. After mentioning speaking with Lionsgate about The Last Witch Hunter and when to fit playing xXx's Xander Cage again into his schedule, Diesel wrote, "Also, Disney wants their Planet X!

Since first appearing in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot has been a fan-favourite character among MCU fans. After sacrificing himself to save his teammates during that adventure, the sentient tree returned in the sequel as the adorable Baby Groot.

As is so often the case, we've now heard good and bad things from Superman's early internal test screenings. It's always best to take chatter like that with a pinch of salt, though we perhaps shouldn't be surprised that the reboot is drawing mixed reviews.

While filmmaker James Gunn has a great track record, the Man of Steel isn't a character it's easy to make relevant in today's world. The hero is viewed as overpowered and old-fashioned by some, meaning even the best Superman movie is unlikely to strike a chord with them.

Marvel’s First Family is set to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer, and if new reports prove to be accurate, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has a rumored runtime that could be more epic than many recent MCU movies. According to a new listing on UK theater chain Odeon’s website, the arrival of The Fantastic Four will be a record-breaker for the superhero team, and be the longest Marvel movie since 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.

Runtimes are often published several months before a film hits the big screen, but can change over time as placeholders are replaced by actual confirmed movie lengths. If the Odeon’s listing is correct, then Fantastic Four: First Steps will be 140 minutes long, making it the 10th longest MCU movie behind Avengers: Age of Ultron, which came in at 141 minutes.

At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, there was a tag that read, “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.” So far, we’ve yet to see Chris Pratt reprise the role of Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we have no indication of when he might appear. However, the actor seems confident that he will be back, perhaps even in Avengers: Doomsday and/or Avengers: Secret Wars.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Pratt was asked if he would be in the new Avengers movies. He wouldn’t confirm or deny anything, only saying, “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 was the last time you saw Star-Lord, and there was a promise that Star-Lord would return. All I can say is we will make good on that promise. I feel like there’s a Marvel sniper somewhere. I will say no more.“

The Fantastic Four: First Steps may show an extended look at Marvel's first family if a new update is to be believed. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe tentpole seemingly reveals its runtime, with its screening potentially setting a two-year-old MCU record.

According to an official listing by the UK-based Odeon Cinemas (via GamesRadar+), First Steps will run for 2 hours and 20 minutes. If Odeon's runtime is accurate, First Steps would be the longest MCU film since 2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was always intended to be the final Gotg movie (at least for the foreseeable future), and it served as a fitting send-off for the team - but it did also lay the groundwork for certain characters to return at the same time.

One post-credits scene introduced a new incarnation of the Guardians led by Rocket Raccoon, and the other teased the possibility of a solo Star-Lord adventure, with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather.

Director James Gunn has previously addressed that final "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return" title card, and it there are (or were) indeed tentative plans in place for a spin-off focusing on Quill's effort to adapt to life back on Terra.

The post-Avengers: Endgame era at the box office has been challenging for Marvel, with only a few exceptions such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Deadpool & Wolverine.

Box office results for the second weekend of Captain America: Brave New World showed a 68% drop week-to-week, positioning it as the third-most significant drop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
