After 136 years, one of history’s greatest crime mysteries may finally be solved. Recent DNA analysis has provided what researcher Russell Edwards calls a “100 per cent” match linking Polish-born barber Aaron Kosminski to the infamous Jack the Ripper murders. This breakthrough has reignited discussions around the case, leading many to revisit films inspired by the Ripper’s reign of terror.
If you’re looking for the perfect movie to watch in light of this revelation, there’s no better choice than Alfred Hitchcock’s silent-era masterpiece The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927).
Why The Lodger: A Story Of The London Fog is a Must-Watch
Though Hitchcock never explicitly names Jack the Ripper in The Lodger, the film is heavily influenced by the real-life events surrounding the murders. The story follows a mysterious tenant who checks into a London lodging house just as a serial killer, known as the Avenger,...

Tom Holland is one of the most popular young actors in Hollywood. However, that doesn't always translate to harmony on the set of every project.
Speaking to Men's Health, Holland revealed that his time working on the Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room was marred by bad blood. "There was quite a lot of animosity on that set," he recalled. "It was not a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and butting heads." According to the actor, the disagreements were not about creative issues and often put his sobriety to the test. "I thought, if I start drinking again now, with all this going on, it's gonna get worse, right?"

"The Simpsons" is still a thing in 2024, even though nobody you know is watching it. While the general consensus is that the show hasn't been good for a while, it still manages to churn out the odd highlight, including a fake series finale inspired by a common fan question. What's more, you can still count on the "Treehouse of Horror" episodes to deliver top-quality "Simpsons."
Inspired by a '50s comic, the "Treehouse of Horror" Halloween episodes started in the show's second season, and have become a "Simpsons" tradition ever since (though that tradition almost ended before it began). The anthology episodes are responsible for some of the most memorable moments in the series' long history, and have developed their own mini traditions in and of themselves — one being renaming all the cast and crew in the episode credits to give them spooky-sounding names.

"Broadcast News" premiered at a pivotal time for the news industry: James L. Brooks' 1987 newsroom-set classic was born into a world in which pay cable, the internet, and the 24-hour news cycle were about to change the way the world received information for good. As such, the movie would already feel like a throwback to a simpler time just a few years after its release. Great as it is, it would soon join the ranks of movies and shows about legacy media that portray a writing world that looks nothing like the current freelance-heavy digital landscape.
Brooks was apparently acutely aware of the changing media world even as he made the film. In a retrospective interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2018, the filmmaker recalls being inspired to create one of the movie's most famous scenes when a visit to a real-life newsroom confirmed that it reflected reality. "I was in the...

Experience driving around Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 in full VR with LukeRoss' R.E.A.L VR mod for more immersive gameplay. The mod allows players to have fluid head movements while driving, shooting or roaming Night City, enhancing the sense of scale and realism. Even though the mod requires a regular game controller, it offers a unique glimpse into the potential for VR integration in future games.
A Cyberpunk 2077 mod lets players fully immerse themselves in the streets of Night City. CD Project Red's sci-fi RPG already had a first-person narrative for its majority, with players only able to swap to third person for driving, to make players feel like they were exploring its rich world, but a Virtual Reality mod has taken advantage of this to take things a step further.

It's fair to wonder just how "necessary" a movie like "Wonka" truly is. Billed as a prequel to the 1971 Mel Stuart-directed and Gene Wilder-starring classic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," the upcoming film stars Timothée Chalamet in the title role of a story about discovering how, as the marketing puts it, "Willy became Wonka" ... which I can honestly say is a question that never once crossed my mind before. Still, at the very least, all my fellow sweet-tooths out there are guaranteed to get their fill of chocolatey goodness, which is apparently something that translated to the actual production of the film, as well.
We previously wrote about how the filming of "Wonka" required the presence of an actual, on-set chocolatier to help bring that extra layer of verisimilitude to the cast. However, as it so happens, that went further than we originally thought. Not only did...

When H.G. Bassinger began work on his book that later became a movie and TV show, Friday Night Lights, he faced a controversy that several years later has become a major problem for high school and college football players. Friday Night Lights began as a non-fiction book by H.G. Bassinger about a real-life high school football team in Texas and later developed into a short-lived Ben Affleck show in 1993, a 2004 film and a 2006 television series, both by the same name. Each iteration of the story follows high school football and its importance to players, coaches, and families.
Although Friday Night Lights aired nearly a decade ago, its origins still have a strong connection to the current state of school-level football players. In order to write his book, Bassinger interviewed various high school football players and in exchange reportedly paid for their meals and offered them small gifts. This act,...

Kurosawa’s long-awaited return to his psychological J-horror roots, since his latest films were mostly art-house or social ones (Tokyo Sonata), finally occurred, and the result is quite similar to “Pulse” (Kairo). The story is based on Yutaka Maekawa’s novel.
The action in the film starts immediately, as a tragedy occurs when a serial killer detective Takakura was questioning, escapes. The result of the incident is for Takakura to resign, and to follow an academic career in criminal psychology. The script then moves in two axes. The first one takes place in the new neighborhood Takakura and his wife, Yasuko move in. While Yasuko wants to become friends with the rest of the neighbors, they treat her with suspicion except for Nishino, who seems to be the most peculiar of all, until, at least, he is proven to be utterly creepy. The second axis occurs when...

With his boy-next-door looks, supermodel physique, and overall charisma, Kim Soo Hyun has been a trailblazer in the Korean entertainment industry.
Rising to stardom in popular dramas such as “The Moon Embracing the Sun” and “My Love from Another Star”, and the blockbuster film, “The Thieves“, the 29-year-old star has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with.
Seeing Kim Soo Hyun in a different light.
His massive fan base, both in Korea and overseas, are surely over the moon about his new project – the action-noir film, “Real”. However, those who were smitten by his charms and endearing smile might find this dark, mystery thriller film uncharacteristically different from Kim Soo Hyun’s previous projects. Taking on the role of Jang Tae Young, an infamous and power-hungry key player in the criminal world who has an adept ability to make problems go away, Kim Soo Hyun admitted in...
