Mope (2019)

Trivia

Mope

Edit
The final entry in the film's closing credits consists of the words "For Herbert". Herbert Wong was Tom Dong's real name.
Annie Cruz plays one of the pornographic actors in the film and is an adult film star in reality. Cruz actually knew the real Steve Driver. Upon reading the script, Cruz told director and co-writer Lucas Heyne that the dialogue and character traits of Driver in the screenplay were accurate to the real Driver.
Stephen chose his stage name Stephen Driver after his favorite film, "Taxi Driver."
Pertaining to the title of this film, a "mope" is a low-end pornographic performer who does the lowest and nastiest work in adult films, particularly in movies that pertain to disparate fetishes. Many mopes aspire to reach the level of a performer who headlines films, but few of them ever reach that point in their careers.
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett was on holiday when he first received the script for the movie. Initially uneasy about playing an aspiring pornographic actor, Stewart-Jarrett read the script all the way through and was taken in by the complex drama and the relationships of the character to others in the story. His manager also pushed him to audition for the film.
