I like J.G. Quitel and his amazing work in the animation industry but.... I'm gonna have to say it feel like it's own take on family guy just in the Regular Show style. I am a huge fan of Regular Show is in my top 3 next to Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts and One Punch man but if you want the full J.G. Quintel experience go watch Regular Show. Still a good show to watch to pass the time. That all being said I still got a few good laughs out of me and doesn't disappoint. So to know what you really think about this show go watch it.
This show is funny 80 percent of the time and hilarious rest of the time.
Its episodes plots are amazing.
The show keeps reminding you that yey, you grew up with regular show, now you have hair in your balls, you can listen to no no words, social comentary and look at explicit sex instead of vague references to Pops PP (yes, I'm still traumatized about that episode) still great and a lot of fun so... yeah give it a try

I dont usually write reviews but this show really deserves a raving review. It takes the magic from regular show and just lets it all loose. Its a great show, great voice acting, great art style, great jokes. I'm so excited for what comes next. Please give them more episodes HBO, this ones gold.

Funny writing, good voice acting, and good animation. JGQ proves that he can make shows for kids and adults alike with this fresh take on modern living. It's relatable, quirky, and super fun to watch.

It was worth the wait. I did not expect much from the show due to the plot, but the plot actually makes this show amazing. It really holds deeper meaning the more you watch it and makes you feel more attached to the characters (Quintel did a great job with the characters) . Comedy wise it is good but if some changes can be made, this show can be as good as Regular Show.

Now I haven't seen regular show, but if it's anything like this I need to watch it. Close enough is an amazing show so far. Key word "so far" I would give this a nine because well, it's insanely funny, the animation is good and the characters are likeable. But I haven't seen enough of it to really get a good grasp of it.

I'm going to be in the minority of reviewers (and viewers) here I think by not having seen Quintel's Regular Show. So it wasn't until Close Enough that I first encountered his blend of magical surralism wrapped in acute observation.
The format is basically that of a classical nineties kids' cartoon - a half-hour show cut into two separate narratives (with a few exceptions) this leaves it very little room to faff around and the dizzying speed at which each segment ramps up the strangeness is genuinely breathtaking. The cost of all this brevity means that the central cast can feel a little undefined but Close Enough admirably straddles a refreshing line between caricature and observation that doesn't feel too mean or judgemental.
As someone fairly close to Quintel's age myself it's strangely uncanny to see a television cartoon so precisely aimed at my generation - which no doubt will alienate many and date it severely in years to come but there's an oddly engrossing indulgence to the focus. Close Enough isn't perfect but with its charming tangents and its deft lack of meanness it's... C-

After we had so many cartoon shows releasing since the success of Rick & Morty that were more or less... Well how do I say... Meh.
This show is finally another highlight on the animation horizon. Especially in the first few episodes they had some outstanding story ideas and well thought out jokes that you didn't see coming at all. I'm really excited to see where this show is going with more seasons.

First season was great, every episode was fun and enjoyable, you finished episode and you wanted more and more. Second season on the other hand its mediocre at best. Out of 8 episodes 2 maybe 3 were actually good, rest was boring and weird,i had to force myself to finish the season.

In early 2017, Regular Show finally came to conclusion on Cartoon Network and around the summer of 2017, JG Quintel made a new cartoon...for adults! Close Enough! It was originally planned to air on TBS, but for reasons it has been delayed lots of times, which led the show into production hell. But thanks to HBO Max, we won't have to worry anymore. HBO Max is the new home for Close Enough, I've watched the first episode (from the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on June 15, 2020) and it was pretty good. The humor, the characters, the writing were all good. Close Enough is one of those cartoons that truly fits very well in the box of adult animation, yet the only problem with this show is the 11 minute run, I was expecting it to be at least a 25 minute run, but hey, that's Close Enough. Get it?! I consider this show to be one of my favorites and I will recommend anyone to watch it and I also can't wait for more episodes on HBO Max. I give Close Enough a 9.5/10

This show (and the producers behind it) SHOULD have just stuck with TBS from the very beginning, rather than desperately trying to get on HBO Max, which caused a huge delay in its release and caused this show to be cancelled just 2 years after it was finally released (which was 3 years after it was initially announced).
Close Enough had potential. It really did. There were many things I was looking forward to here, the main thing being a 2nd edition of the Halloween Enough episode in the 4th season. It's just sad to see and observe that there won't be a 4th season.
Everyone already knows what HBO Max is doing to these sorts of shows, so I won't rehash it here. All I'll say is that it was a spectacular mistake that should have never happened.
I do have another thought: Close Enough could do what American Dad did and just be a TBS show once and for all.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that to be it's better than animated show I've ever seen. This includes Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burgers, Rick and Morty, Archer..you name it. It's very relatable, very clever witty and funny. I sincerely hope this runs 10+ seasons.
I expected some great things from the premise of this show (Millenials Trying To Adult, basically) but it didn't really deliver.
It might have done well on Adult Swim? Like so many sitcoms on that network, it touches on a lot of very funny ideas then delivers them in a very unfunny and forced way.
Based on that, you'll probably know if you'll like it or not 🤷♂️

It's all the fun of regular show with a new angle and edge. It's clear that regular show was attempting to add older audiences and more adult jokes to Cartoon Network, and close enough takes it to the next level. It's a fun series with a lot of relatable moments mixed with J.G. Style humor. A great first outing for HBOmax and I can't wait to see what other cartoons they produce if this one is anything to go on.

Regular Show an entertaining show most of the time with a lot of episodes, but...it was just a regular show. After learning about The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, I wasn't sure if Regular Show actually promoted slackerist culture or not. Despite all the different animals and things in Regular Show, their world is very regular and the title is generic. Close Enough is...another regular show, probably even more regular than Regular Show because it focuses on humans instead of. A raccoon and a blue jay, but it has a more apt title. Josh and Emily strive to make a good life for Candice, their 5-year old daughter, and they need their divorced friends Alex and Bridgette to help them pay rent for a big apartment that Candice thought was a mansion in Sauceface. In some episodes, Josh makes some video games that we hope will sell one day, especially after the events of Clap Like This. Close Enough is a great spiritual successor to Regular Show, not because it can have more adult situations that Regular Show ever could, but because it has the same enticing formula in which a regular show could get into excitingly surreal situations. Close Enough came at the right time, for young adults who watched Regular Show as kids 10 years ago. Even kids who are two times Candice's age might enjoy Close Enough if they liked Regular Show, even though Close Enough is too old for them. The Singletons are not the best family, but they are close enough. I do not just watch Close Enough for human Mordecai and human Eileen, I also watch Close Enough for Kimiko Glenn because I absolutely adored her performances in DuckTales 2017 and Into the Spider-Verse.
My only disappointment for Close Enough is that 8 half-hour episodes per season is much too short for an amazing show like this! At least make 10-episode seasons like Rick and Morty. I appreciate the fact that Season 2 expanded Close Enough's scope a bit by giving us new episodes focusing on Bridgette, Randy, Pearle and Mr. Campbell like we haven't seen before in Season 1. I hope Season 3 will also have two episodes each focus on showing us more about Dante, Mr. Salt, Maddie and Trish without being as mundane as Mr. Campbell's story in World's Greatest Teacher.

Before starting, I must clarify that this is the second series that I observe thanks to a close friend's recommendation. After marathoning it in the last four days, it is clear to me that "Close Enough" is one of the best animated adult shows that has been released in the last year and I would dare to say that it can also be considered as one of several potential long-term hits for the newly launched HBO Max streaming service.
Although Season 1 has some bizarre moments and others that can be slightly boring, it stayed at all times loyal to the series' original premise and as a result, the final product turned out to be satisfying: excellent plot development and execution, very good and charismatic characters that you will feel occasionally identified (especially the audience that is in my age segment, 18 to 29 years), and funny moments that will make you laugh...And most importantly, you don't necessarily need to be a fan of "The Regular Show" to watch it.
The truth is I'm so happy that the series got renewed for two more seasons, since its great potential is more than clear. Now it remains to be seen if the future seasons can continue to maintain the high standards of Season 1 to the point of being a potential contender to other series of the genre such as Rick and Morty, South Park, among others.
It was a bet that paid off well in the end.

Wasn't a fan of Regular Show, but giving these comedic creators and geniuses the ability to discuss adult topics with adult humor is absolutely amazing and you had me honestly within the first 30 seconds. I knew this show would be a banger from the trailer.
Side note: I love how the main characters are happily married instead of struggling and bitter towards each other as a form of humor.

I decided to watch a couple episodes of this show so I could compare this to Regular Show and see which cartoon I enjoyed more. After watching some of the episodes I have to say that this show is just decent imo. It has a pretty interesting premise, its humor is usually good, and it does some pretty creative things like in the Perfect House epsiode. You can also sense the Regular Show vibes coming from this which I love. For me the biggest downside to this cartoon would have to be that some of the characters can be pretty annoying and some of the dialogue is a bit cringe, but I still don't see this as bad, so I say you should at least give it a watch

Close Enough has been licensed around the globe on Netflix: to be honest I didn't expect it to come outside the US for a good few years yet because HBO Max is an American exclusive platform as of this year. Thankfully the show's come out and it's what fans of Regular Show were waiting for: it's got the surreal humour alongside 'hard family sitcom' material akin to The Simpsons and Family Guy. JG Quintel is stretching his creative limbs like Adventure Time's Pendleton Ward did with The Midnight Gospel earlier this year. Close Enough is Regular Show's unconventional sequel and this universe is bound to get even bigger the next season.
If you like self-aware humour in animation and the occasional fourth-wall break, this series will be right up your alley. It's refreshing territory for adult animation that will surely be compared to other animated fare like Big Mouth, Rick and Morty, South Park and so many others.
This one will soon develop a devoted following in a short time I'm sure.

The main characters is not some kind of stoner couple, they are just young parents with their regular problems - like fighting striptease dancing clowns or trying to survive in bar which is not suitable for those who are over their 30s. The show is lots of fun and has more freedom to touch adult subjects than the Regular Show.
Highly recommended

Regular Show is still one of my favorite cartoons to this day. He executed it with the characters, unique plot, etc. And he did it again. I love the characters already. Perfect choices. And the episodes seem to be like regular show, where someone weird or crazy happens to them in each one. I only watched the first episode which seemed more like 2 11 minutes episodes; regular show had 11 minute episodes. Over all the show is great. It's funny and lovable. Can't wait for more seasons to come.
Haven't seen The Regular Show but I guess if you like that show you might like this one. There are a few great comedy moments but most of the show's jokes are for people with kids or older divorced people. Hard to find a rhythm with this show but could get better.

Nothing even close to original or funny in this show. The only people that will like it are those craving for a new season of regular show and don't care how much worst this show is.
