I've read reviews of people claiming this is exactly how college life is, that's a boldface lie. Unless this is how you make it, this show is no way close to life unless you purposely go out your way. The show itself started off pretty enjoyable until I realized how unlikable the main character is. Like damn ,the world revolving around her seems so interesting and she seems so dull and plastic. Yara makes this show unwatchable ,her friends seem unrelistic asf but more interesting. If this show was more about the friends and I mean moreee about the friends I'd watch it. As of now everytime I hear the main character make everything about herself, I just can't do it.
Grown-ish is an easy watch with characters who are lovable. I see quite a few reviews regarding folks being upset about the drugs, sex, lies etc....it's college! I'd say most shows centered around a family eventually encounter these topics. Grown-ish does a good job of tying a lesson to each of them.
One thing I've noticed about the show is that it promotes accepting others regardless of differences ie. Democrats and Republicans. Additionally there are a lot of apologies amongst the friend groups- I think that in itself is the most important message.
Cute show.

Cute show.
I loved the show because of the side characters but i really can't stand the main character. She is very self centered and a weird character to focus a whole series on.
First - I wish IMDB wouldn't allow people to review shows after having watched any less than 3 episodes. It takes many shows to hit their grove. Even the best shows from the past 30 years have had uninspiring pilots.
I like this show. I will admit that it can be lost on anyone who has not been in college within the past 20 years. It attempts to play off of issues many of millennials face such as social media and shallow dating scenes.
If you're watching this because you like black-ish, you may be disappointed. This show is not meant to be black-ish. It has some cameos but that's about it.

I haven't watched Black-ish but as a college student, I thought I might like Grown-ish. It's not very reflective of my own college experience but I do enjoy the show. The characters are likeable and I appreciate the way that each episode has a central theme.
