Sony Pictures held its annual presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Monday and confirmed the cast of The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

All four films will open in theaters in April 2028 and are described as follows: “Each man has his own story, but together, they are legendary.”

The project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles – Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.

Directed by Sam Mendes, the cast includes Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

The producers of The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event include Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris, Julie Pastor, and Alexandra Derbyshire. The films are a Neal Street production in association with Apple Corps for Sony Pictures.

Joseph Quinn is a talented actor born in London, England, in 1994. In 2011, he started acting and quickly expanded his filmography with unique characters. Jason Clarke has been cast in a lead role in Hulu’s upcoming limited series about the infamous Murdaugh family, Variety has learned.

Clarke will star in the currently untitled show alongside Patricia Arquette, whose casting was reported in September. Clarke will star as family patriarch Alex Murdaugh while Arquette will play Maggie Murdaugh. The show is based on the Murdaugh family story and draws from the reporting of journalist Mandy Matney, the creator of the “Murdaugh Murders Podcast.”

Phil Dunster, the actor best known for his role as himbo soccer star Jamie Tartt on “Ted Lasso,” is reuniting with “Ted Lasso” co-creator Bill Lawrence on Lawrence and Matt Tarses’ upcoming HBO comedy series, Deadline reports.

Steve Carell stars in the as-yet-untitled series, which is described as a comedy set on a college campus that follows an author’s (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter (not yet announced). Dunster’s role is being kept under wraps for now.

Dunster was nominated for the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2023 for his performance on “Ted Lasso.” Up next, Dunster will appear in Season 2 of Apple TV+’s psychological thriller series “Surface.” He’s also appeared in Prime Video’s “The Devil’s Hour” and “Catastrophe,” HBO’s “Catherine the Great,” and the film “Murder on the Orient Express.

“Ted Lasso” star Phil Dunster will star opposite Steve Carell in a new single-camera, 10-episode, half-hour comedy for HBO.

The series, which is set on a college campus, centers on an author’s complicated relationship with his daughter. Details of Dunster’s role were not revealed.

The untitled project, which was given a straight-to-series order back in May, is executive produced by Carell, Bill Lawrence, Matt Tarses, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer of Doozer Productions. Lawrence and Tarses will write the first episode.

The series is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television, where both Doozer and Tarses are under overall deals.

Dunster is best known for his portrayal as Jamie Tartt in the Apple TV+ comedy “Ted Lasso,” which ran for three seasons. The role earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy in 2023.

Exclusive: Chloe Bennet (Interior Chinatown) and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso) have been tapped to lead Hello Out There, an indie marking the feature debut of writer-director Otis Blum, which has wrapped production in New Mexico.

The film centers on Minnie (Bennet), a young journalist who embarks on a road trip across New Mexico with her cousin, Rex (Dunster), a punk rock guitarist fresh out of rehab, who is trying to figure out what’s left. Observatory Pictures has been set up in partnership with New Pictures, the All3Media-owned drama producer behind shows including Kay’s ITV drama The Long Shadow.

Under terms of the pact, all of Observatory’s projects will be co-produced with New Pictures, with All3Media International holding international distribution rights.

Kay will work closely with New Pictures’ CEO Willow Grylls and executive producer Matt Sandford. He will look to create and shown “ambitious, commercially-successful high-end drama series” for streamers and networks in the UK and internationally.

We understand Kay’s previous indie, Idiotlamp Productions, which he ran with director Jim Field-Smith, will remain operational, but only for existing IP such as Hijack. All new Kay creations will go through Observatory.

With HBO Max turning into Max, Warner Bros. Discovery is introducing a higher-priced plan — $19.99 per month — with an expanded bouquet of 4K Ultra HD content aimed at pushing customers to the pricier package.

On Monday, the company announced that the 4K tier will feature more than 1,000 films and episodes in 4K Uhd, an increase of nearly eightfold over what has been available in HBO Max.

The 4K Uhd content on Max will include “Game of Thrones,” “The House of the Dragon,” “The Last of Us,” the Harry Potter films, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Knight trilogy, the Matrix films and more. Cinematographer Elemér Ragályi, one of the greatest talents of modern Hungarian cinema, died last Thursday.

Ragályi was born in 1939 in Hungary, where he graduated at the Academy of Theater and Film with a degree in cinematography.

As a cinematographer, he worked with directors such as István Gaál, István Szabó Gyula Gazdag, Judit Elek, Pál Sándor and Ferenc András, innovating in order to give a distinctive look to iconic films.

In 1970, Gaál’s “The Falcons” won the Jury Prize of the Cannes Film Festival, in large part thanks to the camerawork of Ragályi.

In 1990, he received the television prize, the CableACE Award, of the American Society of Cinematographers for the HBO production “The Josephine Baker Story,” starring Lynn Whitfield. Chip Hanson, a newly minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, is recruited by the FBI to work on the case. Jason Clarke, Scott Eastwood and Chaske Spencer will star in the sequel to “Wind River.” Entitled “Wind River: The Next Chapter,” the film will be directed by Emmy nominee and BAFTA award winner Kari Skogland. Patrick Massett and John Zinman have penned the screenplay. As previously announced, Martin Sensmeier will star and reprise his role as Chip Hanson. The original film also starred Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, neither of whom has been attached.

According to the official description, the sequel involves the investigation into a series of ritualistic murders on the Wind River reservation. To solve the case, the FBI enlists Chip Hanson, a newly minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, who becomes embroiled in a desperate and dangerous fight between the authorities, a vigilante, and the reservation. Production is currently underway in Calgary.

The original film written and directed by Oscar-nominated Yellowstone Universe architect Taylor Sheridan watched as the veteran hunter Corey Lambert (Jeremy Renner) helped rookie FBI agent Jane Banner (Elizabeth Olsen) to investigate the murder of a young woman on the Wyoming Native American reservation of Wind River.

Just as limited and anthology series based on real events have taken over the TV landscape, they have taken over the Emmys. But how well have programs of this particular genre actually gone over with the academy throughout the past few years?

Let’s take a look back at all nominations earned by limited and anthology series starting in 2015; that’s the year in which the rules were tweaked to require that a program can only compete as a limited series if it has a minimum of two episodes with a total running time of at least 150 minutes, tells a complete, non-recurring story, and doesn’t have an ongoing storyline and/or main characters in subsequent seasons.

This rule change came just a year after limited series (referred to as “miniseries” at the time) and TV movies were once again split up into separate program categories, undoing a three-year-old change that consolidated the two awards.

Jason Clarke is set to headline and executive-produce The Last Frontier, which just got a series order from Apple TV+.

Crated by Jon Bokenkamp (The Blacklist) and Richard D’Ovidio, the drama stars Clarke as Frank Remnick, the lone U.S. Marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska.

Netflix will start filming later this month on Scoop, a UK feature depicting an inside account of BBC Newsnight’s 2019 interview with Prince Andrew, that will star Rufus Sewell as Andrew and Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis, the journalist who conducted the interview.

Scoop is based on Scoops: Behind The Scenes Of The BBC’s Most Shocking Interviews, a memoir published last year by Sam McAlister, the former Newsnight producer who negotiated and secured the interview. McAlister has written the script for the film, which will shoot in the UK.

The official trailer for 1923, Paramount+’s second Yellowstone prequel, is here.

The trailer for the series, which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as Cara and Jacon Dutton, opens with a shot of Mirren being approached by Timothy Dalton’s Donald Whitfield, who announces that he’s moved into the ranch next to theirs.

“Well, this is the Yellowstone, and you have no rights here,” she says. Shortly after, Ford approaches the town’s sheriff about starting a range war with Whitfield, who has partnered up with Jerome Flynn’s (Game of Thrones) Banner Creighton. Later in the video, Mirren threatens Flynn, saying, “Men kill quick — with a bullet or a noose — but your fight is with me, and I kill much slower.”

Over the course of the minute-and-a-half trailer, Mirren and Ford fiercely defend their home from Whitfield, who wants to own the whole valley.

Paramount+ has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Yellowstone prequel series 1923.

The limited series is billed as “a Yellowstone origin story” and stars box office legend Harrison Ford and Oscar winner Helen Mirren as an early 20th-century generation of the Dutton family. The trailer below was released during the fifth-season premiere of Yellowstone on the Paramount Network.

The project from showrunner Taylor Sheridan follows patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Mirren) and explores “the early 20th century, when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”

While not everyone finds the lives of royalty interesting, many others do, as evidenced by the many successful TV shows made in the subgenre. Television shows about royalty and royal families have become very popular in recent years and there are a plethora of ways to go about telling the story.

Some writers attempt to stay true to reality, like The Crown, while others create fictional royal families loosely inspired by their real-life counterparts. There are shows about royals in past lives, and even Disney shows that present royalty in a kid-friendly way. One thing is for certain; the genre isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Clarke can currently be seen starring as Jerry West in the HBO series Winning Time alongside John C. Reilly.

He will next appear in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer opposite Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh.

Most recently, Clarke starred in HBO’s Emmy-nominated limited series Catherine the Great opposite Helen Mirren.

PBS is developing a drama series based on the public and private life of Clementine Churchill, wife of British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.

The U.S. public broadcaster is working with Maven Screen Media, the production company set up by Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler, Origin Pictures, the producer of HBO and Sky’s Catherine the Great, on five-part series Mrs. Churchill (w/t).

Margaret Nagle, who previously wrote on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, is writing.

The project was previously being developed as a feature film, as revealed by Deadline in 2018.

It is the story of a fiercely independent and very modern heroine who risked everything to save her country and the world from fascism–and her husband from himself. Clementine’s story has slipped through the cracks of history. The magnitude of her many achievements are only recently being recognized.

The writers from Stranger Things paid tribute to Joseph Quinn’s fine work on the guitar by posting footage on him rehearsing Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” on Twitter. In one of the last moments from Season 4, Volume 2, Quinn’s Eddie Munson (Quinn) shreds his electric guitar in an effort to lure the demo-bats away from the Creel house and his newfound buddies.

Quinn wasn’t expected to do all the heavy lifting with the Metallica tune. Bassist Tye Trujillo, the son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, helped with the solo.

Joe Donaldson, a British producer whose credits include the BBC/Netflix series Peaky Blinders and Amazon Prime’s Ripper Street, has launched a new production company, Magic Hour Television and signed a first-look development deal with indie giant All3Media.

Under the terms of the deal, announced Friday, Donaldson’s Magic Hour Television will develop a slate of drama series for All3Media International in partnership with Willow Grylls’ New Pictures, a drama subsidiary of All3Media.

All3Media and All3Media International will fund the slate development.

Donaldson, who has worked with New Pictures since 2018, producing the first two seasons of Sky thriller series Cobra, will also act as executive producer for New Pictures on the show’s upcoming third season, Cobra: Rebellion, for Sky Max, which is set to start filming later this year.

Joe Quinn, the scene-stealing British star of Stranger Things, has revealed a couple of tantalising titbits about the highly-anticipated season four finale.

Quinn’s character is Eddie Munson, who first appeared at the beginning of the most recent season of the Netflix hit, and has won fans’ hearts as the big-haired metalhead who runs the Hellfire Club and plays in a band called Corroded Coffin. Munson is also suspected of murder and accused of satanic worship, naturally.

Without giving too much away, Quinn told the Guardian newspaper of the climactic final two-and-a-half-hour episode: “I can say there’s a guitar scene and that the scale and ambition are astonishing.”

We can glean what we will from his response to the question of his return for the fifth and final season. He says, “I’ll be furious if they don’t bring me back. I’d love to, if they’ll have me.
