Well maybe this explains why Phil Dunster is not slated to return as a star on Ted Lasso! Richmond AFC's resident bad boy-gone-good has reportedly been cast as a series regular opposite The Office star Steve Carell in Bill Lawrence's new television comedy.
Though details are being kept under wraps (according to Deadline's reporting), the Untitled Comedy Series from Ted Lasso, Scrubs, and Shrinking creator Bill Lawrence, Scrubs' Matt Tarses, and Warner Bros. TV already has a 10-episode, first season order from its future home, HBO.
What Is Steve Carell and Phil Dunster's New Show About?
All anyone knows thus far about the series is that it, "is set on a college campus and centers on an author's (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter." Lupin and Hijack creator George Kay is launching an All3 Media-backed indie.

Under terms of the pact, all of Observatory’s projects will be co-produced with New Pictures, with All3Media International holding international distribution rights.
Kay will work closely with New Pictures’ CEO Willow Grylls and executive producer Matt Sandford. He will look to create and shown “ambitious, commercially-successful high-end drama series” for streamers and networks in the UK and internationally.
We understand Kay’s previous indie, Idiotlamp Productions, which he ran with director Jim Field-Smith, will remain operational, but only for existing IP such as Hijack. All new Kay creations will go through Observatory.

Joseph Quinn's role in Gladiator 2 marks a career shift from charming characters to a power-hungry emperor, showcasing his versatility. Quinn will star in Gladiator 2 alongside notable actors like Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal. Beyond Gladiator 2, Quinn has exciting projects lined up, such as playing Human Torch in The Fantastic Four and a role in Alex Garland's Warfare.
Joesph Quinn's character in Gladiator 2 seems completely different from his previous roles, and I'm absolutely all-in with this career shift. Like most people, I first became familiar with the English actor from his portrayal as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season 4. Even though Quinn stole our hearts with his standout performance as the heroic rebel, he'd already been in the industry for about a decade. Quinn's first major acting work came in BBC One's Dickensian before appearing in shows like Game of Thrones, Les Misrables, and Catherine the Great.

The first official trailer for Ridley Scott's long-awaited historical action epic Gladiator II has arrived online and it's every bit as epic as you'd expect as Paul Mescal (Normal People; Aftersun; The Lost Daughter) squares off against 3x Primetime Emmy-nominee Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian; Game of Thrones; Narcos) and Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington (Training Day; Fences; Malcolm X).
As per the official synopsis, "Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.

This past Wednesday Marvel Studios made a very special casting announcement via their social media platforms. It was a gift much sweeter and tasty than any Valentine’s Day candy sampler. And it’s been in the works for nearly five years. That’s when Disney officially purchased Fox Studios, which finally brought one of the most celebrated Marvel Comics into the “fold”. In the years before the 2008 launch of Marvel Studios, some of their characters were licensed out to several different studios. Sony still has Spidey, while Daredevil, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four were then at Fox. Dd was brought back in with the Netflix series (and a new Disney+ Maxi-series soon), and Deadpool & Wolverine will rule this July, all the while fans were clamoring for a “new take” on the “first family” of Marvel. Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach's screenplay for "Barbie" is a little unconventional. Since most of the characters in the movie are either called Barbie or Ken, the script distinguishes between them by referring to them as "Barbie Margot" (referring to star Margot Robbie) or "Ken Ryan Gosling". This name-dropping of actors into the script even extends to the narrator, whose lines are attributed not to "Narrator (V.O.)" but instead, "Helen Mirren (V.O.)".
It's certainly a good tactic if you're hoping to grab the attention of the specific actor you want for a role. Back in 2022, after the first trailer for "Barbie" debuted her voiceover work, Mirren told Vanity Fair that she was "fairly thrilled" to be involved in the film, and also revealed that she shot a cameo scene as herself in addition to recording the voiceover. The third season of Hulu’s “The Great” wastes no time showing viewers something new and unexpected. A major character dies in the first episode, but not as a punchline in the vein of another key figure who falls out of a window during an energetic bout of sex. Instead it’s death by a bullet through the head, and the camera lingers on the bleeding corpse on the forest floor until the bears begin to circle for their meal.

In the first half hour of Netflix series Transatlantic, we get a sense of the range of Lucas Englander.
When we meet the Austrian actor, who plays Albert Hirschman in Netflix’s new international series, he’s a bedraggled refugee, stumbling down the hill toward the beach at Marseilles, the “last free port” in Nazi-occupied France, circa 1940. Spotting the waters of the Mediterranean, he stops. Then breaks into a run. Hitting the beach, he strips off his grimy clothes and plunges into the water, letting out a whoop of pure joy, like a child on the first day of summer. A few scenes later, Englander plays Hirschman as the suave lothario. In a bluff to get past a checkpoint, he pretends to be the lover of American heiress Mary Jayne Gold (Gillian Jacobs), whom he met moments earlier, wrapping his arm around her and giving her a brazen smooch. Later,...

How well do fact-based limited and anthology series perform at the Emmys? (Spoiler alert: very well)
Just as limited and anthology series based on real events have taken over the TV landscape, they have taken over the Emmys. But how well have programs of this particular genre actually gone over with the academy throughout the past few years?
Let’s take a look back at all nominations earned by limited and anthology series starting in 2015; that’s the year in which the rules were tweaked to require that a program can only compete as a limited series if it has a minimum of two episodes with a total running time of at least 150 minutes, tells a complete, non-recurring story, and doesn’t have an ongoing storyline and/or main characters in subsequent seasons.
This rule change came just a year after limited series (referred to as “miniseries” at the time) and TV movies were once again split up into separate program categories, undoing a three-year-old change that consolidated the two awards.

The official trailer for 1923, Paramount+’s second Yellowstone prequel, is here.
The trailer for the series, which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as Cara and Jacon Dutton, opens with a shot of Mirren being approached by Timothy Dalton’s Donald Whitfield, who announces that he’s moved into the ranch next to theirs.
“Well, this is the Yellowstone, and you have no rights here,” she says. Shortly after, Ford approaches the town’s sheriff about starting a range war with Whitfield, who has partnered up with Jerome Flynn’s (Game of Thrones) Banner Creighton. Later in the video, Mirren threatens Flynn, saying, “Men kill quick — with a bullet or a noose — but your fight is with me, and I kill much slower.”
Over the course of the minute-and-a-half trailer, Mirren and Ford fiercely defend their home from Whitfield, who wants to own the whole valley.

While not everyone finds the lives of royalty interesting, many others do, as evidenced by the many successful TV shows made in the subgenre. Television shows about royalty and royal families have become very popular in recent years and there are a plethora of ways to go about telling the story.
Some writers attempt to stay true to reality, like The Crown, while others create fictional royal families loosely inspired by their real-life counterparts. There are shows about royals in past lives, and even Disney shows that present royalty in a kid-friendly way. One thing is for certain; the genre isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Joe Quinn, the scene-stealing British star of Stranger Things, has revealed a couple of tantalising titbits about the highly-anticipated season four finale.
Quinn’s character is Eddie Munson, who first appeared at the beginning of the most recent season of the Netflix hit, and has won fans’ hearts as the big-haired metalhead who runs the Hellfire Club and plays in a band called Corroded Coffin. Munson is also suspected of murder and accused of satanic worship, naturally.
Without giving too much away, Quinn told the Guardian newspaper of the climactic final two-and-a-half-hour episode: “I can say there’s a guitar scene and that the scale and ambition are astonishing.”
We can glean what we will from his response to the question of his return for the fifth and final season. He says, “I’ll be furious if they don’t bring me back. I’d love to, if they’ll have me.

Between them, you’ve definitely heard the work of composers (and brothers) Harry and Rupert Gregson-Williams in film and TV projects such as “Wonder Woman,” “The Crown,” “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “House of Gucci,” “The Alienist,” “Catherine the Great” and a large swath of the Adam Sandler oeuvre. But only recently have they decided to join forces to become a double-threat, on HBO’s recently renewed, turn-of-the-century hit “The Gilded Age.”
However, this series is not their first duo effort. “Our first experience was with George Clooney; I’m not sure how the opportunity came about,” Harry said. “But ‘Catch-22’ [for Hulu] was our first foray into co-composing with each other. And, you know, it takes a while to feel out each other and how we how we would deal with the various obstacles and how we would get the most creative juices out of each other.
