This was a fun show and I am going to miss it! I have loved Vicki Lawrence since The Carol Burnett Show. It was fun to see what life might be like in a retirement community. I thought there was some real chemistry happening between the main characters. Seems like there should have been enough of us baby boomers watching and enjoying to keep this show alive!
A few years ago TV Land had a bunch of TV shows featuring classic TV actors and written by classic TV writers. And this show feels like that, but on Network TV with better and more modern writers from the post Survivor/American Idol TV decimation event era.
(Reality TV was cheaper and got better ratings so half the slots went reality. With less scripted TV, good writers became more concentrated, and the level of writing on TV improved.)
David Alan Grier is funny, and is looking a bit like Tim Conway next to Vicki Lawrence, who is absolute dynamite. Martin Mull is doing the always entertaining Martin Mull thing and Leslie Jordan is also great.
Jamie Farr has a scene in the first episode. I hope he becomes a regular and/or they fill that slot with regular, much beloved guest stars from classic TV.
This is much better and more fun than "Retired At 35", "Hot In Cleveland" and the other TV Land fare.

Fox's new sitcom "The Cool Kids" debut this fall and I believe they have a hit. The show revolves around four friends who are all living in a retirement community coincidentally named "Shady Meadows" sounds familiar? Upon watching I immediately thought about a modern-day twist on golden girls. The show is genuinely funny with entertaining storylines. Also with this variety of actors, it will appeal to a broader audience which will definitely work in its favor. Each character brings something unique to the show seeing how different they are and this formula works perfectly. The sitcom isn't short of laughs from beginning to end each episode so I truly hope FOX keeps the show for the long haul.

I'm broken hearted. It was so fun to see all of our older TV and Movie icons make their guest appearances!
After watching three other season premiers tonight, this was my favorite. Yes, it will probably appeal to older adults, but that's just fine. It was smart and funny. Well done!!
