Following a movie about a rampaging, coke-fueled bear was never going to be easy, but Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden is giving it his best shot with the comic thriller Borderline (out now), which he also directed. A twisted look at the dark side of fame, it stars Samara Weaving, Warden’s wife, as a Nineties pop star who has to fend off a sociopathic stalker who’s convinced he and the object of his obsession are meant to be married.

“Jimmy’s brain is my favorite thing,” Weaving says.

There’s just something about two horror icons working together that fills our hearts with glee. While their upcoming pairing may not be a guts-and-bloods-filled slasher (hopefully in the future!), we’re still stoked to see what Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) and Kyle Gallner (Strange Darling) have in store for us when Adam Carter Rehmeier’s (Dinner in America) feature, Carolina Caroline, eventually arrives in theaters. In the romantic crime drama, which also features performances from Kyra Sedgwick (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Jon Gries (The White Lotus), Gallner and Weaving star as a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde — bending all the rules and making the world their own while conning folks out of money along the way.

Like fellow feature-length filmmakers such as Mike Flanagan and Martin Scorsese, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (known collectively as Radio Silence) love a good repeat casting. The pair frequently sign on collaborators from previous projects, like Ready or Not’s Samara Weaving making a far-too-brief appearance in Scream VI or Scream and Scream VI’s Melissa Barrera popping into the duo’s follow-up vampire flick, Abigail. All that would change with the release of the pair’s horror-comedy, Ready or Not, which also bolstered the career of its leading lady, Samara Weaving. Since Weaving’s character, Grace, survived a bloody and trauma-inducing night at the hands of her new hubby’s sadistic family, audiences have been eager for a follow-up. Finally, after years of speculation and patience, Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin recently revealed that Ready or Not 2 was in the works.

Here’s some news that we know everybody will want. Today, Netflix has announced that the second season of their hit romantic comedy, Nobody Wants This, is officially in production. Sharing the news on their socials, the streamer posted an image of the two leading stars — Adam Brody (Ready or Not) and Kristen Bell (The Good Place) — getting cozy. The picture sees the pair in full relaxation mode, with Brody’s Noah lounging on the couch with Bell’s Joanne lying on top of him. Kathryn Newton will once again be teaming up with filmmaking collective Radio Silence, this time on their horror sequel Ready Or Not 2. The Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania actor previously collaborated with the directing duo on last year’s Universal horror movie Abigail. Collectively known as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Radio Silence announced the sequel last October.

The original Ready Or Not writers are also back: Guy Busick and R Christopher Murphy will provide the film’s screenplay while Samara Weaving – the original film’s star – is also returning.

The iconic radio host of Coast to Coast Am talked long into the night with his guests, discussing everything from ghosts and aliens, to time travel and Bigfoot. Now, Academy Award-nominee Paul Giamatti is set to portray the late Bell in a new biopic from Ready or Not and Abigail directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Per Deadline, the untitled project with Giamatti in the lead is now in the works, with studios like Amazon and Warner Bros. vying for the pitch. The script is being written by Sam Chalsen (TV's Sleepy Hollow) and Nelson Greaves (Unfriended), with Sophie Cassidy's 2.0 Entertainment producing along with Jeff Katz, the latter of whom is an accomplished talk radio host in his own right, and a big fan of Bell.

Jonathan Kent’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night starring Jessica Lange and Ed Harris will make its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival as the full line-up is confirmed.

Casting announcements for the upcoming horror film Scream 7 are coming in quickly! The latest to join the cast is Hysteria! star Anna Camp, and we're curious about who she will be playing in the new movie. Unfortunately, character details are being kept secret, but this isn't surprising, as most of the previous casting announcements didn't include character details either.

Camp's casting comes just a day after the announcement that Mason Gooding would be reprising his role as Chad Meeks-Martin from Scream (2022) and Scream VI in the seventh installment. Also joining the cast in new roles are Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Celeste O’Connor (Madame Web), and Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans).

Radio Silence, the filmmaking team behind Ready or Not, Abigail, and the two most recent Scream sequels, are gearing up to go into production on Ready or Not 2 – but while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing that sequel and producing it with Chad Villella, the trio are also producing a feature expansion of Colleen McGuinness’ short film Loser. Deadline reports that Angourie Rice, who also starred in the short, is set to star in the Loser feature alongside Ella Purnell (Fallout), Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country), and Lukas Gage (The White Lotus).

Details on the characters being played by Purnell, Bennett, and Gage have not been revealed, but we know that Rice will be playing Alice, a brilliant but troubled physicist, as she attempts to heal her trauma by using time travel, but gets caught in a twisty, cat-and-mouse game of murder and violence in New York City.

The Lonely Island‘s Jorma Taccone is in good company for his next directorial project as Ben Schwartz and Sam Rockwell board the upcoming Searchlight comedy DNA. News about Taccone joining DNA as the film’s director and producer comes after he recently launched production in Finland for The Trip, an upcoming thriller starring Jason Segel and Samara Weaving.

Plot details for DNA remain a mystery, though we know Schwartz sold the concept to Searchlight in 2020. Schwartz wrote the script, while Ali Bell, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Taccone produced through their Party Over Here studio. Rockwell gets in on the action as an executive producer alongside Schwartz.

Taconne’s other directorial efforts include shorts and music videos for The Lonely Island, Parks and Recreation, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Miracle Workers, The Last O.G., and Paramount’s Knuckles series. His upcoming thriller, The Trip, revolves around a troubled couple who visit an isolated cabin.

The first half of 2024 was pretty unkind to a lot of movies. The box office was on life support for most of that period and it all felt kind of bleak for anyone who pays attention to such things.
