The untitled project is set to tell the story of how a technology giant came out of a small Canadian town and would go on to outpace major corporations in the smartphone race before ultimately flaming out. A planned release date has not yet been announced.

What will we be eating in 10 years? In 50? Are we destined for a future of freeze-dried space food and Frankenfoods? Will we have to say goodbye forever to sushi and hamburgers?
Well, maybe, but there will also be deliciousness to be found, according to David Chang and Morgan Neville’s new series “The Next Thing You Eat,” which examines what will be on our plates and how it will get there in the future. The six-part series premieres Oct. 21 on Hulu.
Chang, the innovative chef who launched Momofuku and Majordomo restaurants, previously worked with Neville on the Netflix series “Ugly Delicious” and talked about his friend Anthony Bourdain in Neville’s recent doc “Roadrunner.” But where “Ugly Delicious” delved deeply into the foods of varied cultures and cities, “The Next Thing You Eat” confronts a number of eye-opening scenarios with a playful and informative approach.

Documentarian Morgan Neville didn’t know Anthony Bourdain personally, but he felt the globe-trotting chef and author was a kindred spirit. “In many ways, we were doing the same kind of work,” says the Oscar-winning director, whose raw and personal documentary “Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain” premieres Friday at the Tribeca Festival ahead of a theatrical opening on July 16.
In Neville’s eyes, Bourdain was “this champion of the democratization of food, of treating street foods seriously and ethnic foods seriously, breaking down the border of Michelin star cooking.” With “Roadrunner,” Neville wanted to explore that adventurous side of the man who traveled hundreds of days every year, from Iran to the Congo to L.A.’s Koreatown. But, he says, there was also a question mark over his life: “How does that happen? How does a guy like that kill himself?”

The making of “Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles” was as complex as the confections created by the renowned pastry chefs it focuses on — and the result is equal parts beauty for both food and film.
The IFC Films documentary (in select theaters and on demand Sept. 25) follows chef Yotam Ottolenghi as he assembles an Avengers-like team of pastry chefs to bring the splendor and beauty of Versailles, in dessert form, to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the opening of a special exhibit about the French palace.

The Primetime Emmys take place on September 20 and air live coast-to-coast on ABC. But the majority of awards are handed out at the five Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies that take place in the week leading up to TV’s biggest night. The Creative Arts trophies will be awarded at five events on: September 14 (reality and nonfiction; Sept. 15 (variety); Sept. 16; Sept. 17 and Sept. 19 (mix). The first four of these will stream live on Emmys.com while the last will air on Fxx.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has forced TV productions, film shoots and entertainment events to shut down all year to slow the spread of the easily transmitted disease, all of this year’s Emmy ceremonies will be held virtually. While Jimmy Kimmel emcees just one show — the Emmys next Sunday — Best Reality Host nominee Nicole Byer (“Nailed It”) has been tapped to preside over all five of the Creative Arts awards.

Elle Fanning is attached to star in the Universal Content Productions (Ucp) series based on the real-life case of Michelle Carter, which has landed at Hulu, Variety has learned.
Titled “The Girl From Plainville,” Fanning will star as Carter, who was infamously convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2017 after texting her boyfriend encouragement to commit suicide three years prior. The series will be based on the Esquire article of the same name by Jesse Barron.
Liz Hannah and Patrick Macmanus will co-write the series and serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Fanning and Echo Lake’s Brittany Kahan Ward will also executive produce. Barron and Erin Lee Carr will serve as consulting producers. Ucp will serve as the studio, while Kelly Funke will oversee the project for Macmanus’ Littleton Road Productions. Littleton Road is currently under an overall deal at Ucp.
“The Girl From Plainville” keeps Fanning in the Hulu fold.

Elle Fanning is to star in The Girl From Plainville, about the Michelle Carter texting-suicide case with Hulu picking up the drama straight-to-series.
The thriller comes from The Post writer Liz Hannah and Dr. Death exec producer Patrick Macmanus and is produced by Ucp, which last year won the rights in a competitive situation to Jesse Barron’s 2017 Esquire true crime article The Girl From Plainville about the case.
The Girl From Plainville is considered the definitive account of the events that led Michelle Carter, a young woman from a small town in Massachusetts, to stand trial for her boyfriend Conrad Roy’s homicide, as prosecutors argued that her calls and texts fueled his suicide when they were both teens.
The story was recently the subject of an HBO documentary I Love You, Now Die from Erin Lee Car, who is a consulting producer alongside Barron.

VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Netflix’s “Cheer” led all shows in nominations for the second annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, the Critics Choice Organization and the nonfiction producers organization Npact announced on Monday.

Even if you’re not into food, you probably know who David Chang is. The Korean American chef behind the Momofuku empire of restaurants arrived on the scene in New York in 2004, both middle fingers raised to anything that represented the establishment. He made rakish beauty of the humble pork bun and ramen in a minimalist East Village space that was soon imitated around the world. Chang didn’t invent the cliché of the bad-boy chef, but he checked off plenty of the key qualities: He cursed a blue streak in interviews.

FoodThe term and its heavy baggage was a point of discussion in an episode of the second season of Netflix’s ‘Ugly Delicious’.Nikhita VenugopalPexelsIn my home, I’m sorry to say, we use the word curry. I’ve used it in restaurants, at family dinners, in friends' homes, and probably many other places. I should probably feel bad about that. It’s a word that causes deep frustration and consternation to many for its overt ties to British imperialism and appropriation of Indian culture. But it’s also a word that’s commonly used in India. You could even say it’s been reclaimed as our own. 1. “Ozark” Season 3 (available March 27)
Why Should I Watch? If you’re a fan of dark crime stories, “Ozark” probably pulled you in a while ago. Directed, produced, and starring Jason Bateman, the Netflix drama about a family of money launderers trying to escape the tightening grasp of their cartel bosses is a perennial awards player and cultural talking point. But like the remote destination’s lakeside tourists, “Ozark” doesn’t come without its baggage. Some of the aforementioned “buzz” is centered around how hard it is to see what’s going on, and awards shows are often unreliable bellwethers of quality. Plus, Season 2 marked a dramatic downshift in the propulsive pleasures “Ozark” Season 1 offered, so can Season 3 recover? Reviews are embargoed, so I can’t possibly say — but there’s a reason this is the No. 1 March offering, and it ain’t because “Archibald’s Next Big Thing” is bad.

Netflix is adding a robust line-up of popular programs to its slate in March.

With February 29th fast approaching – this is a Leap Year, remember – Netflix is preparing to roll out a fresh helping of new content for March 2020.
It’s a familiar combination of original series, time-honored classics and beloved franchise films, with next month set to herald the arrival of Resident Evil: Apocalypse and its undead sequel, Extinction. Sure, it’s a far cry from the quality and craft of The Lord of the Rings – speaking of which, both the Twin Towers and The Return of the King will be departing Netflix in four weeks’ time – but the saga of Alice still carved out an audience to call its own.
Also peppered throughout Netflix’s March 2020 catalog are some big-name horror titles and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, including Signs and the third season of Ozark. And then there’s the third season of Castlevania, which, it’s fair to say, has been a long time coming.

Also peppered throughout Netflix’s March 2020 catalog are some big-name horror titles and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, including Signs and the third season of Ozark. And then there’s the third season of Castlevania, which, it’s fair to say, has been a long time coming.

Here's what's new on Netflix in March 2020! We've got a complete list of what's leaving, too.
Normally the big story for each month of Netflix new releases are the exciting batch of Netflix original series and movies arriving. For Netflix's new releases for March 2020, things are a little bit different. Yes, there are some cool originals here but...look at those movies!
March 1 sees the arrival of Corpse Bride, The Shawshank Redemption, There Will Be Blood, and Goodfellas! Martin Scorsese likely can't unilaterally decide when and where his movies stream, but it is a happy coincidence that Goodfellas will now exist alongside The Irishman.
As for those Netflix originals...Ozark is the biggest returning hit in March. The story of a very corrupt family airs its third season on March 27. Also of note are Castlevania season 3 (March 5), Altered Carbon: Resleeved (March 19). But really after Goodfellas, nothing else was really necessary.

The streaming sector may be growing ever more crowded as increasing numbers of providers embrace the video-on-demand model of content distribution, but industry pioneer Netflix continues to dominate in terms of original content and more than double the subscribers of its nearest competitor, Disney+. And in March of 2020, those 62 million subscribers have a lot of compelling movies and series to look forward to, both original and imported.
In terms of weekly series, Crash Landing On You, the second-highest-rated Korean drama in cable television history after Sky Castle, and Chinese romcom Find Yourself both begin airing new episodes on Sundays in March, while the South Korean series Itaewon Class, the first project from distribution company Showbox, premieres new episodes on Fridays.
The first of the month, meanwhile, marks the first big release of material, including:
