The cast of Lee Cronin's The Mummy is slowly starting to unwrap, with Laia Costa becoming the latest addition to the ensemble that will give rise to the reboot. The Wheel of Time actress is starring alongside Jack Reynor, who portrays her on-screen husband, per The Hollywood Reporter. It is understood that the couple, along with their daughter, who has yet to be cast, will make no bones about the trouble they're in when they cross paths with the titular undead monster and start encountering a series of supernaturally sinister phenomena.
Costa is no stranger to dark forces, having starred in Prime Video's big-budget fantasy series The Wheel of Time, which features the Dark One as its primary antagonist. Costa plays Moghedien, one of the Forsaken, who is known for being manipulative and cunning in her strategies. The actress' other credits include roles in Drake Doremus' romantic drama Newness,...

Laia Costa has joined Jack Reynor in The Mummy, a new take by writer-director Lee Cronin.
New Line Cinema is behind the feature that has horror powerhouses Atomic Monster and Blumhouse producing. Doppelgängers, the banner run by Cronin, is also producing. Cronin previously made horror hit Evil Dead Rise for New Line.
Production begins this week in Ireland. Mummy is set for an April 17, 2026 release.
Plot details are being kept in the sarcophagus but it is understood that Costa and Reynor are playing a married couple, who along with their daughter, cross paths with mummy dearest.
In December, Cronin told THR that. “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”
Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are co-financing the film. Producing are James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville. Executive producing are Michael Clear,...

It’s official, y’all: Stephen Graham’s hit Hulu series A Thousand Blows has been renewed for a second season, and according to the announcement, we can expect a season 2 debut sooner than we expect.
The gritty crime series is a gem of a period piece that sucked audiences right into its narrative of ambition, violence, organized crime, and desire. Created by Steven Knight, of Peaky Blinders fame, A Thousand Blows is a bloody boxing drama set in mid-1800s London that is completely flawless and purely entertaining. While it may have started as a miniseries, it was renewed before the first season even aired, and season 2 was shot back-to-back with season 1.
Inspired by the true-life stories of a group of characters battling for survival in the brutal underground of Victorian London’s East End, the series follows Jamaican immigrants Hezekiah Moscow (Kirby) and Alec Munroe (Francis Lovehall) as...

Doctor Who's Russell T Davies has addressed plans for who will succeed him as showrunner in the future, explaining "conversations" are already underway. Davies served as the original showrunner for the sci-fi series' revival in 2005, overseeing the seasons starring Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor and David Tennant's Tenth Doctor. He returned to his role starting with the 2023 60th anniversary episodes prior to season 14, and retained his role into the upcoming Doctor Who season 15. His return to the series ushered in a new era as well, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor.
Speaking with Tennant himself on his podcast David Tennant Does a Podcast With… (via Radio Times), Davies confirmed he would not return to Doctor Who "a third time" after his current stint as showrunner. Instead, "conversations" are already happening about who will take up the mantle when he's done, even though he doesn't plan on going anywhere anytime soon.

Prominent Italian producer Luca Bernabei who runs Fremantle’s thriving Lux Vide banner, is getting ready for one of his most ambitious projects to date: “Floating Lives,” a six-part international drama series revolving around the 2012 Costa Concordia shipwreck.
The series, which has a large budget, will chart the epic, yet untold, rescue mission executed on the Costa Concordia cruise ship by eight firefighters from the coast guard in Italy’s seaside city of Grosseto.
Lux Vide has secured the life rights to these eight rescuers who boarded the ship the night of Jan. 13, 2012, after it crashed into the rocks, off the Island of Giglio in Tuscany. The crash caused 32 deaths in one of the biggest maritime disasters in Italian history. When they arrived on site, it was pitch dark and they prowled the submerged corridors and more than 1,000 cabins of the sinking ship to save the 30 passengers who were still...

Dark anime is a fascinating world to explore, especially when they dive into the human psyche. To easily evoke emotion from humans, psychological horror does the job since it draws upon feelings of unease, tension and thrill that aren't often touched upon in regular media. Criminal Minds tells some of the darkest stories that exist and anime also has a knack of becoming just as disturbing.
Anime continues to challenge its standards by diving deeper and leaning toward more gritty storytelling. It's fascinating to see how anime categorized as dark evolves throughout the years and how it compares to dark anime from older eras. Both newer and older dark anime all exhibit common themes that they explore: mortality, humanity and moral ambiguity.

John C. Reilly will soon appear on the big screen as Buffalo Bill in “Heads or Tails?” a surreal Western by Italian directorial duo Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis (“The Tale of King Crab”). The film is inspired by a true event that took place during Buffalo Bill’s stay in Italy.
Along with the Oscar-nominated U.S. actor – who co-starred with Joaquin Phoenix in Jacques Audiard’s Western “The Sisters Brothers” – the top notch “Heads or Tails?” cast also comprises rising French star Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Italy’s Alessandro Borghi, in lead roles, and Argentina’s Peter Lanzani.

The first Doctor Who spin-off from the latest era of New Who is in active development, and leaked photos from the set reveal that a familiar villain seen in the Whittaker era is getting an updated design. With the long history behind Doctor Who, spanning more than six decades, the Doctor has faced an incredible number of aliens and monsters on their travels. Along the way, several of these antagonists are brought back, such as the Daleks and Cybermen, who end up becoming regulars throughout the history of the show.

Charlize Theron has become quite a feminist icon over the years. From her ability to candidly share her thoughts to the kind of projects she takes on and even the success that she has seen, she has made a name for herself in more ways than one. However, this does not stem from a passive belief in the feminist movement, as the actress has had to face her own demons over the years.

The BBC and Disney+'s Doctor Who partnership is well underway. The rebooted series aired earlier this year to mixed reviews; there were superb entries like "73 Yards" as well as more disappointing episodes like "Space Babies." The future of the partnership is up in the air. But at the least, Doctor Who will return for season 2 on Christmas Day, with Ncuti Gatwa in the lead role as the Fifthteenth Doctor. The Doctor Who franchise is currently in the beginnings of a wholly new era. Showrunner Russell T. Davies is back pulling the strings, and Disney is investing heavily into the next generation of the Whoniverse. Season 1 aired this year to a mixed reception, with the next season set to premiere on Christmas Day and into 2025. Furthermore, there's an all-new spinoff being made: The War Between Land and the Sea.
The War Between Land and the Sea doesn't have a release date yet. Indeed, there's a lot about it we don't know. What we know so far is that it is all about the Sea Devils, one of the Doctor's oldest enemies; they date back to the 1960s. The Doctor himself will not be involved. Rather, it'll be a Unit-focused series. The cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Russell Tovey. Both Jemma Redgrave (Kate Lethbridge-Stewart) and Alexander Devrient (Colonel Ibrahim) will reprise their roles.

The upcoming Doctor Who spinoff, The War Between The Land and the Sea, is inspired by the "Cold Blood" storyline from the fifth season. The show may bring back the Silurians, as the Sea Devils are distant relatives, hinting at a possible connection to the main series. While drawing inspiration from "Cold Blood," the spinoff will need to make major changes to avoid copying the original ending.
The War Between The Land and the Sea is an upcoming spinoff in the world of Doctor Who, following the Sea Devils as they are brought into conflict with the human race. The show was announced by Doctor Whos showrunner Russell T. Davies at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, where the two lead actors Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw were also revealed. Details about The War Between The Land and the Sea are still sparse, but the plot seems very similar to another story in Doctor Whos past.

Chainsaw Man delivers unforgettable battles with fiends, devils, and hunters. The series is structured into different sagas, with Part 1 so far having the better fights. The fights in Chainsaw Man are intense and creative, with characters utilizing unique powers and motives.
Of the current digital offerings in the Shonen Jump+ library, Chainsaw Man is among the most idiosyncratic, full of stylish paneling and increasingly complicated, tortured characters. But much like any mana and anime marketed to the shonen demographic, the action is among the biggest draws of this series, with Tatsuki Fujimoto delivering plenty of memorable and glorious battles. The best fights in Chainsaw Man are ferocious, brilliant displays of devils, fiends, and devil hunters using their abilities creatively to gain the upper hand, even if the collateral damage can be devastating.

Gianluca Bombardone was a beloved Italian producer and camera operator in the film community. 2.He tragically passed away at just 44 while filming a documentary in Sardinia. His work on "Those About to Die" as a camera and steadicam operator was honored with a dedication.
At the end of Peacock's Those About to Die episode 1, there's a title card dedication to someone named Gianluca Bombardone, and the story behind it is sad. Those About to Die and its cast of characters follow multiple plot lines. One follows Tenax (Iwan Rheon), a master of the criminal underground and businessman bent on bettering his plebian lot in life. Another follows Cala (Sara Martins) and her children, a Nubian family who become enslaved as servants and gladiators. Apparently Patrick Dempsey really enjoys playing police detectives in the horror genre. The actor best known for playing neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd for 11 seasons on Grey's Anatomy is stepping into a police uniform again for the upcoming Dexter prequel series Original Sin.
Variety reports that he'll play series regular Captain Aaron Spencer of Miami Metro Homicide. Spencer shares an important connection to Dexter's adoptive father, Harry Morgan, who will be played by Christian Slater. The press release only described their relationship as one that has spanned several decades but doesn't elaborate on whether it's friendly or antagonistic in nature.
Prior to landing this role, Dempsey played Detective Mark Kincaid in Scream 3 and, more recently, Sheriff Eric Newlon in the 2023 slasher film Thanksgiving. For whatever reason, it seems like he's drawn to the police force on-screen! Outside of horror, Dempsey also recently reprised his role as Robert Philip in the Enchanted...

Russell T Davies is addressing past mistakes in Doctor Who. He is expanding the Doctor Who franchise with new spinoffs, such as the rumored "The War Between The Land & The Sea." The spinoff has the opportunity to give better treatment to the Sea Devils by exploring deeper mythology and creating a more threatening presence.
Russell T Davies is working through Doctor Who one mistake at a time - especially if reports regarding the franchise's next spinoff are accurate. One of the most unorthodox hits of the shonen genre’s new generation, Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man has earned a reputation for being a gritty, violent, and unapologetically weird subversion of battle shonen tropes. Following the story of Denji, a lowlife Devil Hunter who fuses with the Hero of Hell Chainsaw Devil Pochita, Csm is a cruel, turbulent tale few would associate with the cheery clichés the shonen genre helped popularize.
While Chainsaw Man frankly rejects many of the genre’s most fundamental tropes, it also doesn’t shy away from embracing countless iconic staples of battle shonen. The concept of body swapping is so fluid that it fits into every possible movie genre. It sounds ludicrous on paper, but you can’t ignore the pulpy charm of it. Director Kim Jae Hoon’s latest Korean thriller, Devils, plays the audience, or rather deceives them, thanks to their affinity for this particular concept. Body swapping is introduced as the primary tool to move the narrative forward until you get to the big reveal. How you perceive things after the reveal determines whether or not the movie works for you. I thought it was quite gimmicky. I am not saying the idea was bad, but the execution of it is hasty and bland. A little bit of polish in the screenplay and editing could have saved it by bringing much-needed flair, but sadly, things didn’t go that way.
