Sam Worthington, best known for his role in Avatar, is set to star in Netflix’s upcoming limited series I Will Find You. The show is based on the bestselling novel by Harlan Coben.

The eight-episode series follows David Burroughs, a man wrongly convicted of murdering his own son. Though he knows he didn’t commit the crime, he struggles with guilt every day. But when he receives shocking evidence that his son might still be alive, he makes a daring escape from prison to uncover the truth.

This marks the first U.S. adaptation of a Coben novel under his exclusive deal with Netflix. The show was co-created by Coben and Robert Hull (God Friended Me), who also serves as the showrunner. They are joined by executive producers Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien, and John Weber.

On March 5, Deadline broke the news that Sam Worthington has officially boarded I Will Find You, the next thriller limited series based on a Harlan Coben book coming to Netflix. I Will Find You is one of the four Coben series still in the works on various streaming services, as Netflix drops two — Just One Look and Caught — this month. (Just One Look began streaming on March 5.)

Netflix ordered I Will Find You to series back in November 2024 as the first United States-based series out of the Coben-verse.

Sam Worthington (Avatar film franchise) has closed a deal to star in the Netflix limited series I Will Find You, based on Coben’s bestselling novel.

Ordered in November, the eight-episode series is the first greenlighted U.S. adaptation of a book by Corben under his exclusive deal with Netflix.

Worthington will play David Burroughs, an innocent father serving a life sentence for the murder of his own son — a crime he didn’t commit, yet a tragedy he punishes himself for every day. When David receives evidence that his child may still be alive, he must break out of prison to find out the truth.

Coben co-created the series adaptation with Robert Hull (God Friended Me) who serves as showrunner. The two executive produce with Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien and John Weber.

I Will Find You joins previous Netflix adaptations of Corben novels in four languages across different countries.

The latest Harlan Coben adaptation, Missing You, was launched early in January on Netflix. As usual with a Coben story-based series, this one is going down a storm. The show is currently number one on the global Netflix viewing list.

It’s another story with Coben’s trademark twists and turns, mystery, and suspense as the story unravels over five episodes. Detective Kat Donovan, played by Rosalind Eleazar, faces up to a series of mysterious and troubling events that become connected. That includes the shooting of her father some years before.

Missing You followed on from the success of Fool Me Once, another Coben story released on Netflix in 2023. Before those we had Safe (2018), The Stranger (2020), and Stay Close (2022). They’ve left us all keen for more from the Coben catalog on our Netflix screens.

There's something about Fool Me Once creator Harlan Coben that Netflix cannot get enough of, can they? And likely with good reason. The streamer released the new trailer for the upcoming, heart-pounding thriller series Missing You by the New York Times Bestselling author, based on his 2014 novel of the same name, and it looks to be a trip.

Adapted from Coben's novel, the story follows Kat Donovan, a missing persons detective, whose world implodes after she sees his face on a dating app profile. Whats worse, hes been missing for eleven years. The series stars Rosalind Eleazar, Ashley Walters, Lenny Henry, and Richard Armitage.

The drama is the latest product of an overall deal Netflix signed with the best-selling author back in 2018 and will be the first U.S.-based series based on one of Coben’s books. The streamer has greenlit “I Will Find You,” a limited series based on Coben’s novel of the same name. Coben serves as cocreator and executive producer alongside Robert Hull, who serves as cocreator, showrunner and executive producer for the series.

The Arrowverse had many great superheroes who received unanimous and deserved praise, but some supporting characters went under the radar and deserved to be highlighted. Almost every Arrowverse show had a titular lead surrounded by a team made up of friends and family. The exception to the format is Legends of Tomorrow as it was an ensemble show which spread its focus throughout its rotating cast of characters.

The Arrowverse's supporting greats include the likes of Candice Patton's Iris West-Allen, Carlos Valdez's Cisco Ramon, Chyler Leigh's Alex Danvers, David Ramsey's John Diggle and Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity Smoak. They were all staples throughout their respective series' runs, but they weren't alone in supporting their lead superhero. Countless unsung heroes had important roles to play in their respective Arrowverse shows, and some were unfairly sidelined for bigger characters in the crossovers.

Rescue: Hi-Surf is off to a strong start for Fox.

The lifeguard drama debuted to 4.7M viewers on Sunday night, according to live + same-day data from Nielsen.

The premiere episode also managed a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49, which is quite impressive as scripted broadcast series rarely perform that well in same-day ratings anymore.

In fact, it was TV’s highest-rated fall drama debut in six years, since the CBS premiere of God Friended Me in September 2018. It’s also the first time a new fall drama and comedy from the same network have debuted as the week’s No. 1 show, alongside Universal Basic Guys.

The solid performance is thanks in part to a lead-in from an NFL doubleheader. The episode was part one of a special two-night premiere, which continues Monday night.

CBS’ update on Matlock brought in a strong audience for its premiere Sunday night.

The legal drama starring Kathy Bates — which shares a name and basic premise with the 1980s-90s series starring Andy Griffith, but not much else — brought in 7.73 million viewers for its debut. Excluding shows that debuted after the Super Bowl, that’s the largest series premiere audience for a CBS show in more than five years (since The Code followed an NCIS episode in April 2019).

The 7.73 million viewers also would have ranked in the top five among CBS’ same-day audiences for scripted shows last season (again, not including the post-Super Bowl premiere for Tracker).

Matlock turned in the biggest same-day audience among the handful of network shows that had season or series premieres last week (the Nielsen-measured 2024-25 season officially begins Monday). Among the others, ABC’s Dancing With the Stars drew the biggest total...

It looks like we finally have a streaming release date for the upcoming fantasy romance movie Girl Haunts Boy. It will reportedly be released on Netflix this October. The exact date is Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, so make sure to save the date!

We first learned of this movie back in May 2022. However, it wasn't titled Girl Haunts Boy back then, nor was it billed as a movie. In fact, Netflix wasn't involved with the project in any way. Max, which was called HBO Max at the time, had greenlit the project, which was originally titled B-Loved. And instead of it being a movie, it was going to be a two-part television special event premiering on Max in time for Valentine’s Day 2023.

It's unclear what happened, but the special didn't end up being released on Max in February 2023. It didn't even come out this February. Now, we've just learned that Netflix...

Prime Video is beefing up the cast for its crime drama Countdown.

Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu and Elliot Knight have joined the series, which comes from creator Derek Haas (Chicago Fire, FBI: International). They join a cast that also includes Jensen Ackles, Jessica Camacho and Eric Dane.

Ordered to series in June, Countdown centers on LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles), who — after a broad-daylight murder — is brought into a secret task force with agents from a host of law enforcement agencies. A more sinister plot then comes into focus as the task force must put aside competing agendas to save an entire city.

Beane (Death and Other Details, God Friended Me) will play Evan Shepherd, a tech-savvy recent graduate of the FBI Academy who’s eager to learn how to operate inside the task force. Latukefu (Young Rock, MaXXXine) will play Lucas Finau, a veteran of the LAPD’s Gangs and Narcotics division.

Acclaimed horror director James Wan is dipping his toes into the comedy genre by producing a new half-hour sitcom about aliens for CBS. Wan is, of course, the director of such notable horror hits as Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, and Malignant. While he hasnt directed anything since 2023s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Wan has been staying busy behind the scenes producing the upcoming Stephen King adaptations Salems Lot and The Monkey, as well as the sequel to the 2021 video game adaptation, Mortal Kombat.

Per Deadline, Wan will produce the new sitcom, titled Area 51, through his Atomic Monster banner, which has also had a hand in producing such TV shows as MacGyver, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Archive 81. CBS is headed to the infamous “Area 51” with an upcoming single-camera comedy that’s being produced by James Wan’s company Atomic Monster, Deadline reports this week.

Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (“God Friended Me”) are behind the series for CBS.

“Written and executive produced by Lilien, Wynbrandt and Laura Moran, “Area 51″ follows the humans and Aliens that work together at the country’s most mysterious place.”

Deadline notes in their exclusive report this morning, “The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shots in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.”

Quantum Leap ended its run after two seasons on NBC, but its developers have found their next television series project to keep them busy. The show will be a workplace comedy series set in Area 51.

Per Deadline, Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are partnering up to develop the new series with Laura Moran (The Neighborhood), James Wan's Atomic Monster, and CBS Studios. Dubbed Area 51, the series will be a single-camera, half-hour workplace comedy that "follows the humans and Aliens that work together at the country's most mysterious place." Lilien, Wyndbrandt, and Moran are writing the series, and all three will executive produce with Atomic Monster's Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett.

The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shorts in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.

Last year, CBS ordered only multi-camera comedy pilots, and its two new comedy series for next season are both multi-cam, Poppa’s House and the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Multi-camera comedies are cheaper to produce, making them attractive for broadcast networks as budgets get squeezed amid declining linear ratings. For studios, broadcast single-camera comedies are hard to justify financially because of their higher cost and depressed network license fees.

Lilly Wachowski’s Anarchists United Foundation is boarding Circle Management + Production’s Writers Discovery Fellowship as a co-partner.

The nonprofit organization, founded by the Matrix co-filmmaker during last summer’s strikes to address inequity in the entertainment industry, will financially support and help operate the program for unsigned TV writers from historically excluded backgrounds. Circle announced its rebrand from Circle of Confusion last week.

“Anarchists United is a response to the hyper-commodification of our industry, an attempt to carve out space for underrepresented artists who seem to be being pushed further into the margins,” Wachowski said in a statement. “This is antithetical to what filmmaking means to me. It is building in community. Our specific kind of communal art is analogous to what it means to be a human being.”

Exclusive: Adam Goldberg, star of CBS’s crime drama The Equalizer, has signed with Buchwald for representation.

On the show, which returned for its fourth season just this past weekend, Goldberg stars opposite Queen Latifah, Tory Kittles and more. Centered on Latifah’s Robyn McCall, a former CIA operative and divorced single mother who sets off on a quest for vigilante justice, it has him portraying master hacker Harry Keshegian.
