Disney’s live-action “Snow White” is here, taking the 1937 animated film into the real world, dwarves and all.

Although technically, in this version, they aren’t dwarves. As explained in the movie, they’re magical creatures that have lived in the woods for hundreds of years. That said, they still take on the names of the original seven dwarves.

And of course, there are some recognizable humans on screen as well as lending their voices to the merry bunch.

Netflix continues to fight the good fight for no-nonsense action movie magic, with the streaming giant having now revealed the release date for what could easily be their next action thriller smash hit. Now all set to be unleashed next month, Exterritorial sounds like it could be the next Taken, as a former Special Forces soldier is forced to resurrect her particular set of kills after her son mysteriously goes missing.

According to Netflix, the German action outing, which has been made in conjunction with Constantin Television (Dear Child), is due to be released on the streamer on April 30, 2025. Netflix viewers are urging science fiction fans to watch one of the streamer’s most underrated shows. The series, which boasts a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, is titled Pantheon, and tackles issues such as death, the overreach of technology, and what it means to be human. The animated series has tragically flown under the radar since it began back in 2022, but now, fans of the sci-fi drama are pushing to raise the profile of Pantheon, taking to social media to persuade streamers to add the series to their lists.

X/Twitter user @JasonKPargin started the push, saying, “Go watch Pantheon, the best show on streaming that nobody knows about.” Fellow user and fan @Jimbo_Zen was glad to see the show getting some attention, adding, “Yes! Glad some people are beginning to become aware of this show.”

The end of 2024 came with one of the biggest films for Netflix. In December, it premiered the critically acclaimed Carry-On, which has been continuously breaking records.

The thriller has a stellar cast led by Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman, Theo Rossi, and Danielle Deadwyler, and has been a major hit since its Dec. 13 release on the streaming service. The movie had the biggest debut for a film in 2024, and a month later, it had already hopped on Netflix's Most Popular Top 10 Movies in English. Per Tudum, Carry-On is now the second most-watched film on the platform.

The fact that Carry-On reached the prestigious Most Popular list was a huge achievement in itself. The action thriller debuted with 42 million views in its first week. It hit the Most Popular Top 10 list in fifth place with 149.4 million views after less than a week on the platform, and its numbers have continued growing.

The film released in proximity to Barbie, resulting in the Barbenheimer phenomenon that accelerated box office sales after theaters had suffered from a post-covid slump.

Oppenheimer’s director, Christopher Nolan, has been very open about his preference for theatrical releases and his disdain for the streaming-first release model, to the point of releasing Tenet to low box office returns right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. But that doesn’t mean the executives of streaming services like Netflix necessarily agree. “Squid Game” is coming back sooner than you may have expected. The third and final season of Netflix’s most popular series of all time will premiere on June 27, just six months after Season 2’s premiere.

The news was announced during the Next on Netflix event, the streamer’s press event that showcased its upcoming film and TV slate for 2025. The streamer also exclusively shared some first-look footage with those who attended. Without giving too much away, the clip showed the remaining blood-stained players being forced to play yet another game. This time around, the survivors were forced to split into two teams: red and blue.

Netflix’s 2021 apocalyptic sci-fi film Don’t Look Up is the second most-watched Netflix film of all time (behind 2021's Red Notice) and now its Oscar-winning director, Adam McKay is saying that the movie has grown more and more pertinent in today’s times. Cannily timed to coincide with the festive break, Netflix thriller Carry-On is now one of the streaming giant’s most-watched movies. According to the firm’s own numbers, the airport-set nail-biter has notched up 149m views – meaning it currently occupies the fifth position on its top 10 list of most-viewed movies ever.

This means that Carry-On, starring Taron Egerton and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, has joined such esteemed company as action comedy romp Red Notice (in the number one spot with 230.9m views) and Sandra Bullock sci-fi horror Bird Box (157.4m).

As pointed out by Indiewire, Carry-On's success means that the starry murder mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story has been edged off the list. Director Rian Johnson is probably calling his local hitman as we type this.

In a shakeup to Netflix’s All-Time Top 10 list, “Carry-On,” the thriller starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, is now the #5 most-watched English-language film in its first 91 days on the service.

In the process, “Carry-On” bumped fellow Netflix original film, Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story,” from the Top 10. Johnson will get his chance to make things right with his third “Knives Out” installment, “Wake Up Dead Man,” arriving later this year.

“Carry-On,” which was produced by Amblin Partners, debuted on the all-time Top 10 with 149.4 million views, and it managed to do so in less than four weeks, so it still has a lot of time to keep climbing.
