There have been over 30 seasons of Power Rangers. Some receive as much praise as they deserve, while others are rightfully maligned. However, there are some seasons where their quality isn't properly represented by their popularity.
Every Power Rangers fan whose favorite season isn't Mmpr has an argument that it's underrated. While Mighty Morphin Power Rangers remains a classic, subsequent seasons aren't as popular. Certain exceptional seasons deserve far more acclaim and recognition, while other, weaker seasons are hated to an unfair degree. Every season of Power Rangers has strong elements, and there's no entry in the series that's entirely indefensible.
Power Rangers Rpm Aired in a Terrible Time Slot
Power Rangers Rpm never had a chance to succeed. The series aired early in the morning as part of a relatively obscure TV block, and the season's showrunner, Eddie Guzelian, was fired half-way through production for going over budget. It's nothing...

Easter eggs and continuity have always played a large role in the larger Power Rangers canon. Power Rangers Beast Morphers was one of the best uses of this by tying its main villain to another beloved series. With the success of Beast Morphers in mind, something similar would greatly benefit the now-dormant franchise.
The Disney era of Power Rangers was somewhat of a reset for the franchise, changing up the way Power Rangers stories were told for a new generation of viewers. While the Disney era featured several beloved Power Rangers seasons, like Power Rangers Dino Thunder and Power Rangers Spd, there were also some low points, like Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. When Disney decided to cancel Power Rangers, they gave their final season the respect it deserved, with Power Rangers Rpm being considered one of the best seasons of the entire franchise.

Instead of “It’s Morphin’ Time,” an actor on the TV show Mighty Mophin Power Rangers may be doin’ time.
Austin St. John, who played the red Power Ranger on the show, which aired from 1993 to 1995, has been charged with others in a scheme to defraud the US government of Cares Act funds.
The Dept. of Justice alleges St. John was one of 18 charged with filing fraudulent applications for loans from the Paycheck Protection Program. They then allegedly transferred the money to the scheme’s ringleaders.
St. John, whose real name is Jason Geiger, allegedly obtained more than $400,000 in fraudulent Ppp loans. He faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years, according to the DOJ.
The Justice Department named Michael Hill and Andrew Moran as the alleged leaders of the scheme.

CBS has finally dropped the official trailer for Good Sam, its latest medical drama.
The show finds Dr. Sam Griffith (Sophia Bush) taking on the role of Chief of Surgery when her father, Dr. Rob Griffith (Jason Isaacs), falls into a coma.
The drama picks up when Rob wakes up months later intending to resume his career where he left off.
“Sam is tasked with supervising this egotistical expert with a scalpel who never acknowledged her stellar talent,” reads the official logline for the project.
Sam's father "defies Sam’s authority and challenges her medical expertise, the big question becomes whether this father and daughter will ever be able to mend their own relationship as expertly as they heal the hearts of their patients.”
It is a compelling hook, but the success will all come down to whether the show manages to portray the fraught relationship between the father and daughter well.

This interview contains massive spoilers for the final episodes of Power Rangers Beast Morphers.
In 2009 Power Rangers Rpm ended with a shot of main villain Venjix trapped in one of the team’s morphers. It was an ominous cliffhanger to end the season on, one fans have hoped for years would get some kind of resolution. Well, over 10 years later, it finally happened. The last two episodes of Power Rangers Beast Morphers not only brought back Venjix but also revealed he was actually Evox, the Beast Morphers’ main nemesis, all along! Along the way we even got the return of Rpm mentor Dr. K and Col. Truman!
When most shows are wrapping up their seasons, the first thought isn’t, “hey, let’s resolve a cliffhanger from 10 years ago” It’s even harder when you’re a director coming in who’s never seen the season that cliffhanger was from.

In the end this is how it was always going to be. For as excited as I was after last weeks triumphant Power Rangers Beast Morphers episode, there was no way this episode could live up to it. ‘Evox Unleashed’ is good but it’s not great and much of that can be put down to the mandate that has held back Beast Morphers from living up to its true potential.
As I’ve mentioned many times before but bares repeating now, when Senior Vice President of Power Rangers Franchise Development and Production Brian Casentini left the franchise he left us with this revealing quote.
“I am a big fan of serialized storytelling, but most broadcasters across the globe want more episodic storytelling for scheduling ease.”
Knowing this was a limitation helped me understand the series more and review it under the proper context.

This episode was a huge gamble for Power Rangers Beast Morphers. As I wrote about last week, invoking a plotline from Power Rangers Rpm could have blown up in their faces. The cliffhanger with Venjix in the morpher has gone unresolved for over a decade and fan expecations for it being paid off were sky high. If even one detail was wrong or out of place, the whole episode would have collapsed.
But Beast Morphers did the impossible. They followed up on Venjix cliffhanger perfectly and delivered the best team-up episode in well over a decade. How did they pull this off? Well, very smartly, the episode knows its following up continuity from over a decade ago but only uses that as flavor for the episodes real focus, Nate.
It might seem odd when you say it out loud. Why bother focusing...

It’s crunch time for Power Rangers Beast Morphers and, as I wrote about last week, when the major plot beats go down? Beast Morphers shows up with the energy it needed!
From the start the episode is filled with tension. We know something is up with Blaze and from that first sneer it’s easy to guess it’s the evil Blaze. That doesn’t ruin the tension though because even though we know it’s not the real one the Rangers don’t. It makes watching his actions all the more sinister. The way he manipulated Devon, stroking his ego so he’d be harder on Cruise and the others? That was chilling!
The plan wasn’t simple either. There were a lot of steps where it could have failed but Devon fell for it, which will hopefully be referenced in the next few episodes.

While last week’s Power Rangers Beast Morphers didn’t have a noteworthy plot it did have a ton of life thanks to a musical sequence we still can’t get over. It was big, fun, and showed off a ton of energy that much of the show has been lacking. Unfortunately that energy didn’t carry over to this week where we get a very run of the mill story that isn’t bad but has a very bare bones plot.
Zoey’s brother finds the fossil of an unknown dinosaur, she accidentally disintegrates it, and puts her life in danger to find a new one. The evil Roxy tries to take her out, the rest of the Rangers have to save her, and Zoey realizes she shouldn’t have gone alone.
On paper this is an okay plot but there’s no life to it.

I have never been more surprised at an episode of Power Rangers than I was for ‘The Silva Switch.’ In the middle of the story, out of the blue, with no warning, we got an elaborately choreographed song and dance number featuring Steel in Nate’s body as the entire cast, augmented with backup dancers, sing about great it is to be human.
I…. I am beyond stunned and delighted. I never imagined this could happen in Power Rangers. There’s never been anything like this! The most “musical” the show has been was Zeo’s ‘Another Song and Dance,’ Kira singing sometimes, Antonio’s ‘Everyday Fun,’ the incredible Tanya music video ‘Stick Together,’ and a performance from random Rangers here and there. There’s never been anything like this, a giant production with decent choreography and the entire cast joining in!

I’ve never been more conflicted about an episode of Power Rangers Beast Morphers. This show has never had more energy and a sense of purpose than this episode. The fights have weight, the choreography is ten steps above normal, the emotions are dialed to eleven, and the Rangers are even allowed to have conflict! Every scene builds on one another and the pacing is tight while still allowing the proper emotional beats to land.
The problem is that the inciting incident that drives the plot is deeply flawed and contrived. Misunderstanding conflicts take a lot of work to get right in TV. If the misunderstanding feels genuine then the audience can get behind it. More often than not though these types of plots involve characters taking a conversation out of context, which happens in this episode. I’m not saying I...

In the early 1990s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers burst onto the scene and quickly became one of the hottest kids shows on the planet. Millions of toys were sold, ratings went through the roof, multiple copycats were created, and a big budget movie was put into production. Power Rangers’ place in pop culture was cemented and secured a long future for the franchise.
However, as the years went on and Power Rangers continued on television its fame slowly evaporated. It fell into the background; successive seasons of the TV show were enjoyed by new generations of kids and hardcore fans but never captured the public consciousness again like it had in the ‘90s. Multiple attempts were made to try and bring it back into the spotlight but they all had little success in the grand scheme of things.

Power Rangers for the last six years has featured many plot lines revolving around the Rangers’ parents. It makes sense for the show to tackle the ways teenagers relate to their parents. Not only is it a great source of conflict for stories but also it’s especially relatable to the kid audience. For many children relationships with their parents are the most important things in their lives. Seeing superheroes they look up to having similar relationships can mean a lot.
Unfortunately Beast Morphers really missed the mark with its depiction of Nate and his parents. I do appreciate the show has done a lot of set-up not just about them but Nate wishing they were around more. We got that as recently as ‘The Greater Good.’ We know that they were hardly around when Nate was growing up and that was...

During the middle of this much-hyped Power Rangers team-up episode Jason and the Dino Charge Rangers are walking in a quarry, trying to get to Evox so they can box him in as the Beast Morphers team goes around the other way. Jason says,
“We’re gonna need to scale that cliff.”
What a great scene that would have been; seeing Jason work with the Dino Charge Rangers to overcome a problem. They could have tried different tactics to get up the cliff, maybe fight off some foot soldiers that tried to block their ascent. Maybe you wouldn’t need an action beat and it could have been the team simply climbing. It would have given Jason and Tyler a chance to bond over being leader or maybe Jason could have said, “I hope no one has a fear of heights.”

For an episode filled with clips from the past the most Power Rangers thing to happen is actually the B plot with the Rangers tracking down a diamond thief. Mostly because there are five diamond stores in Coral Harbor and they have names that all go in alphabetical order for A to E.
Albert’s Gems.
Bright Stones.
Coral Harbor Jewelers.
Diamonds of Distinction.
Elite Diamonds.
That is so cheesy and perfectly Power Rangers. Of course the city would have diamond stores in alphabetical order! Obviously! I love that it’s a huge part of this B plot and Jazz Baduwalia is just having the time of his life playing detective as Ravi. He’s chewing the scenery with his sleuthing and I wish we got to see this more playful side to the character. The rest of the cast is also having a blast,...

Netflix subscribers have already been treated to a smorgasbord of fresh stuff in October, such as Adam Sandler’s horror-comedy film Hubie Halloween, paranormal horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor, and classic movies like Clint Eastwood’s drama Gran Torino and cerebral Will Ferrell flick Stranger Than Fiction. But although you’ve probably got plenty to watch as it is, you can always count on the steaming site to keep dropping fresh content for you to add to your list throughout each month.

In watching ‘Finders Keepers’ I was struck by how normal everything seemed. I don’t mean this is a normal episode because it clearly isn’t, but how all the Rangers acted around each other. Sure there was a little surprise from the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team meeting the Dino Charge Rangers but it was mostly matter a fact. There’s a problem and they need to team-up to solve it! I wish more teams were able to interact this way. There doesn’t need to be a giant world ending battle. Sometimes the two teams crossing paths is more than enough.
It was really nice to see the Dino Charge team back in action. Sure Riley and Shelby didn’t show up in person but four out of six (of the main team) isn’t bad, although I wish they...

I’ve often talked about wanting Power Rangers Beast Morphers to tackle some slightly weightier ideas. Not because I’m an adult watching this show and wanting it to reach my level but because that’s what some of the best kids TV is doing now. They present stories with complex themes that have the characters make unique and interesting choices that propel them forward.
Critically though those themes can relate to kids. In a series like DuckTales for instance, they’ve talked about abuse but it’s done through the lens of magic and shadow possession. It’s fantastical so it isn’t too real but also is close enough that kids can relate to it.

Netflix has a whole lot of spooks up its sleeve for the month of October.
From Adam Sandler’s “Hubie Halloween” (Oct. 7) to the “Hill House” follow-up “The Haunting of Bly Manor” (Oct. 9), the Halloween-themed goodness is in high supply next month. Watch Netflix’s little teaser reel above.
If you want a gory horror film, try “Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight” (Oct. 28). Other new creepy flicks include “His House” (Oct. 30) “Cadaver” (Oct. 22) and Spanish-language film “The Day of the Lord” (Oct. 30).
For a younger audience, there’s “Vampires vs. the Bronx” (Oct. 2) and “The Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting” (Oct. 15).
In terms of TV, get ready for Volume 2 of Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries” reboot series (Oct. 19), and also check out Season 1 of CBS’ “Evil” (Oct. 1) about a forensic psychologist who comes face to face with evidence that challenges her disbelief in supernatural phenomena.

It’s a shame this Power Rangers Beast Morphers episode is genuinely really solid except for one glaring issue.
The guest character is a cop. The main plot follows the Rangers mistaking Chaku, a cop, for a bad guy. First off, I don’t see the difference in those two descriptions. Second, it continues a long history in media of cops being portrayed as the good guys, which as we’ve seen recently (but has been true forever), isn’t the case. Thankfully this wasn’t as bad as Super Ninja Steel’s infamously awful ‘Sheriff Skyfire’, which taught the lesson that you should always listen to law enforcement.
Chaku being a cop is thankfully only a small part of the episode but it still rubbed me the wrong way. Thankfully Devon only helped Chaku Before he realized he was a cop.

Netflix was ahead of the game for October, releasing its “Netflix and Chills” horror lineup in anticipation of the Halloween season. Now the streaming giant has unveiled its full lineup for October, and believe it or not: horror remains at the forefront of its strategy.
The biggest release this month is undoubtedly The Haunting of Bly Manor, Mike Flanagan’s long-awaited followup to terrifying Haunting of Hill House. That arrives on Oct. 9. The film side of things is where most of Netflix’s other horror originals reside, with Hubie Halloween (Oct. 7), A Babysitters’ Guide to Monster Hunting (Oct. 15), and Rebecca (Oct. 22) all making their debut.
Some non-horror originals of note this month include high school drama Grand Army (Oct. 16) and the Anya-Taylor Joy-starring chess story The Queen’s Gambit (Oct. 26). Aaron Sorkin’s latest film, The Trial of the Chicago 7, arrives on Oct. 16.

If you’re a Power Rangers fan in America you’ve been in a drought. There hasn’t been a new episode of Power Rangers Beast Morphers, the current series, aired in America since April of 2020! That’s been four months without new Power Rangers but thankfully we’ll be seeing new episodes soon. As part of Hasbro’s Fan First Friday, it was revealed that Power Rangers Beast Morphers would be returning to Nickelodeon “next month.” We don’t know when in September it’ll be but at least we have a vague idea of when the show will be back on Nickelodeon.
There’s a lot to look forward to, with the promised return of not only the Dino Charge Rangers but original Mighty Morphin Red Ranger Jason! We’ve only seen brief glimpses of this much anticipated team-up but all we know for sure is that alongside...

In the coming months five more foreign television and film productions will be allowed into New Zealand to film, as they have been officially granted border exemptions.
James Cameron’s “Avatar” sequels and Jane Campion’s Netflix film “The Power of the Dog” have already been allowed into the country to film due to these exemptions. Joining them will be Amazon’s “Lord of the Rings” prequel series, Netflix’s live-action “Cowboy Bebop” adaptation, Peter Farrelly’s film “Greatest Beer Run Ever” (starring Viggo Mortensen), Netflix’s live-action adaptation of DC Comics’ “Sweet Tooth,” and “Power Rangers Beast Morphers.”
According to the New Zealand news site Stuff, these media entities are predicted by the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (Mbie) to bring 3,000 jobs and around $400 million into New Zealand’s economy. This Power Rangers Beast Morphers review contains spoilers.
We discussed a few episodes back about how, by design, Power Rangers Beast Morphers is a mostly episodic series but the people behind the show had supposedly found “really great balance” between that and serialization.
So far this season the show hasn’t been showing that balance. More and more it’s been episodic, which has had average results. As it demonstrated last season though, the true power of Beast Morphers is unleashed when it utilizes the story potential in its serialized story.
We return to the Nate and Zoey flirting plot and Steel gets in on the action, automatically making it even more engaging. The two want to show their emotions but the rules of Grid Battleforce hold them back. Thankfully Steel has never been great with picking up nuances or reading the room so he just barrels forward trying to get them together.

First off let’s talk about the biggest thing this episode will be remembered for. Sadly not the unique Zord battle but the mere reference to the Pan Global Games. Originally created in Mmpr, the Games were basically the Olympics and were used to write Kimberly out of the show. It’s nice that Power Rangers Beast Morphers remembers they existed and gave us this little nod. It’s a good instance of the show using its own universe and making it feel like it’s all connected, even in small ways.
It’s a shame this is what people will focus on when the Zord fight was genuinely one of the most unique in the series history. Traditionally these fights are cut and paste and rarely go longer than a few minutes. Having a Zord fight take up a whole episode...

Power Rangers Beast Morphers has fallen into a bit of a rut, hasn’t it? It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination but it’s not doing much to stand out. Occasionally we’ll get an episode like ‘Artist Anonymous’ but by and large this season (and last season) have all been mediocre. They have some strong ideas that could make for compelling stories but instead we get episodes like this.
‘The Blame Game’ should be a winner since it focuses on the best character in Beast Morphers, Steel. Steel has been a joy from his very first appearance and even in a weaker episode he shines. Here though I’m not quite sure what they were doing with him. I get that he had to learn that not everyone deserves a strict punishment but… what was the point?...

Power Rangers Beast Morphers has had a lot of trouble balancing all of its plots. Even within episodes it can’t always seem to get the balance right between it’s A story and B stories. It also can’t always tie in its major fight scenes to the emotional core of each episode. I bring this up because it should mean I’m a fan of what this episode did. There’s no Zord fight! There’s barely a B plot! Finally the show can take the time to focus on a story and really develop it across the whole episode. Establish conflict; get some twists and turns in there.
Sadly, ‘Cruisin’ For A Bruisin’’ feels strangely empty for not having to deal with some of Beast Morphers’ biggest issues. The central conflict of Devon feeling bad he let Cruise come...

Power Rangers Beast Morphers Season 2 Episode 4
What makes a great Power Rangers episode? Ask any fan of the franchise that question and you’ll get a bevy of answers. Whether you’re talking to a kid who might like “the fighting” or an adult who enjoys the more subtle character moments, no matter who you talk to you’ll never get the same answer. Some might complain about plot holes, others might laugh at them. Some take the megazords battles seriously, others laugh at them for the goofy Godzilla style action. Some enjoy the cheese, some hate Turbo’s “Trouble by the Slice.” They’re wrong, but that’s okay.
So what is the essential building block of a Power Rangers episode? What’s the one thing that can transcend most criticism and help even the silliest or plot hole filled episode?...

Power Rangers Beast Morphers Season 2 Episode 3
It’s the 900th episode of Power Rangers! Every time we hit one of these hundred episode milestones I’m continually impressed and a little shocked Power Rangers has continually defied all odds and endured. Power Rangers has been up against some pretty big obstacles including channel changes, corporate restructurings, and rights-holders changing hands. No other show would have survived that and stayed on the air every single year. That’s impressive, no matter what you think of some seasons, and I gotta give it praise for that.
Sadly I don’t have the same praise for “Game On!” which is a huge shame because for the first half of this episode I was extremely impressed by it. It didn’t languish through it’s cold open for nine minutes, the show got right to the...

The next Power Rangers season is here and it'll use footage from Ryusoulger.
Today in New York at Toy Fair, Hasbro announced the twenty-eighth season of Power Rangers. Right now we don't know the full title of the season but we do know that it'll be taking footage from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger. There had been a lot of speculation about which Sentai season would be adapted for the series, with many not sure if ToQger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, or Lupinranger v. Patranger, or Ryusoulger would get selected for Power Rangers.
At the Hasbro presentation we got a short teaser exclusively featuring fight footage without any original footage shot for Power Rangers exclusively. That's to be expected from a Toy Fair presentation a year ahead of when the season will premiere. We got shots of the core five Rangers and yes, this season is dinosaur themed!

Slowly but surely key creative talents on the Power Rangers brand have been leaving the franchise.
Things are changing in the world of Power Rangers. When the franchise was sold by Saban Brands to Hasbro in 2018 it was expected change was coming but it took until 2019 to really start to see the effects of the sale.
First up in March 2019 Jason Bischoff, the Global Franchise Director for Power Rangers, who had been with the franchise for three years was let go.
In July Brian Casentini, Senior Vice President of Power Rangers Franchise Development and Production for Allspark Pictures and Executive Producer on Power Rangers Beast Morphers and Super Ninja Steel, left the franchise after being with it for ten years.

Zordon involved with Quaser Sabers, a new power-up, and a previously unknown Ranger all could have been in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.
Power Rangers Lost Galaxy was set to be a bold new era for the Power Rangers franchise. The first season to mostly break away from the ongoing story of the previous six seasons, Lost Galaxy had a completely fresh cast, an expensive two-part premiere episode, and a storyline that took a complete 180 away from the Japanese source material. Instead of taking any cues from the nature themed Gingaman season, Lost Galaxy instead told a space set story thanks to the success of Power Rangers in Space. The story centered on the space colony of Terra Venture attempting to find a new world for humanity.
This was going to be Power Rangers’ biggest push since the height of Mighty Morphin mania.

Simon Bennett, director of many past episodes, has just revealed he’s the new Ep of Power Rangers.
The Power Rangers franchise may be about to see some big changes. Ever since 2015 Judd "Chip" Lynn has been executive producer on the franchise, overseeing Dino Charge, Ninja Steel, and Beast Morphers. While he wasn’t the only executive producer on those season he was the one who had a large portion of control over the show, working with the cast and crew on nearly every level of production. Now it’s being reported that Lynn won’t be the only executive producer working on the series in New Zealand.
Thanks to The Power Scoop via No Pink Spandex, we’ve learned that Simon Bennett (director of various Ninja Steel and Beast Morphers episodes) has, as his IMDb profile states, ”taken over the reins as Ep of Hasbro's famed Power Rangers TV series.

It's been a long time coming but the Power Rangers comics are finally uniting the original three Rangers and their replacements.
Season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers featured the hand-off of powers between Jason, Zack, and Trini to Rocky, Adam, and Aisha. The two groups never truly met in person during Mmpr since the actors for the original trio had left the show. Rocky and Adam did later meet Jason when he returned in Power Rangers Zeo but we sadly never got the chance to see the full trio meet up.
Well, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics are about to make it happen. If you haven't been reading the comics, Jason, Zack, and Trini left the team but did it to become the Omega Rangers. At first they kept their idetities secret from the rest of the team but at the end of issue #46 they revealed themselves.

Another Power Rangers reboot is now in the works at Paramount with The End of the F---ing World creator Jonathan Entwistle in talks to direct. Featuring an all-new story with no relation to the 2017 movie, the screenplay will be penned by Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway scribe Patrick Burleigh. Hasbro is also producing under its Allspark Pictures film banner after buying the rights from Haim Saban last year.
This upcoming reboot will take the Power Rangers franchise back to its roots by setting the story in the '90s, around the time Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first debuted on television. Reportedly, the story will involve time travel to somehow transport the new kids back to the '90s, leaving them to find a way to return to the present decade. This plot description teases the idea of including characters from the show's early seasons, but it's not clear if the...

What Beast Morphers lacked in a consistent whole it made up for in fun parts. We look back at the whole season with the holiday episode.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 22
At this point Power Rangers holiday episodes aggressively exist. They’re there to fill the apparent requirement for holiday programming. They tie together some flashbacks, an original fight, and maybe a bunch of Sentai footage they had leftover. They’ve even been taking place after big finales recently, which while not always used to their full potential at least provide a unique look (for Power Rangers) into what happens after a usual season ends.
They also give us some time to reflect on the season that came before. In Beast Morphers case we get a fun adventure starring the Beast Bots and Steel. On the surface this doesn...

Without any investment in Evox or Blaze, the Beast Morphers finale sadly feels empty despite all the big action.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 21
While last weeks Beast Morphers’ showed off all the season’s strengths, this episode sadly shined a spotlight on all the weaknesses. The biggest issue in Beast Morphers has been its villains. On the surface Blaze and Roxy could have been two of the most unique enemies for the team in Power Rangers history. Former allies meant to be Rangers turned evil! Yeah there’s the whole avatar thing but it still had endless dramatic potential.
Instead the two were relegated to the standard Power Rangers evil generals. We occasionally had Ravi remember Roxy was his ex but that was few and far between. Even more puzzling was the lack of any development on Blaze’s end.
