The official website for voice actor unit Nacherry, a unit consisting of two voice actors from the Love Live! Koji Suzuki's novel "Ring" was first published in 1991, and no one could have guessed that the simple, tech-based ghost story would spawn a decades-long, worldwide media franchise that incorporates multiple movies, crossovers, comics, audio dramas, and video games. If one does a deep dive into the entire "Ring" series, one will uncover a massively complicated mythos that repeatedly peels back layers of reality to reveal an onion-like media metafiction that Marshall McLuhan would be proud of.

The premise of "Ring" is wicked and fun, and would have been all the more terrifying in 1991 when VHS was still in vogue. In the book, an investigative reporter named Asakawa finds a cursed video cassette of a surreal, 20-minute short film. At the end of the video, a captain informs him that he has seven days to live. Asakawa takes the threat seriously, as several teenage girls who watched the video have already died.

Villainess isekai genre offers unique storytelling potential with protagonist's past lives influencing current events in parallel worlds. “Omni Loop” begins at the midway point of “Groundhog Day.” Within the first five minutes, we learn that Zoya Lowe (Mary-Louise Parker) is stuck in a time loop that sees her reliving the last week of her life. She wakes up, receives a terminal diagnosis, spends some doctor-recommended quality time with her family, gets a nosebleed, takes a pill, and wakes up in the hospital again. Again and again, until she can predict exactly when a bird is going to poop on the bench where she sits with a chatty resident of her mom’s retirement home. It’s a priceless opportunity to delay the inevitable, and honestly? She’s over it.

There’s one detail of Zoya’s dilemma not mentioned above that really illuminates what type of move this is: Zoya isn’t dying of a brain tumor or an aggressive cancer, but a black hole in her chest.

PBS Kids series Lyla in the Loop will debut in early 2024, with the Mighty Picnic and Pipeline Studios-produced series set to tackle the use of real-world AI tools and release digital episodes incorporating AI-assisted conversation.

Hailing from Mighty Picnic founder and Emmy-winning producer Dave Peth (Odd Squad, Peg + Cat, Scribbles and Ink, Design Squad), the animated series is set to premiere on Feb. 5, 2024 in both English and Spanish. San Francisco, June 19 (Ians) Microsoft has announced that Teams’ new Collaborative notes feature is now available to everyone on the public preview channel.

The feature is designed to enhance the meeting experience in the video conferencing platform by simplifying the process of creating agendas and creating action items.

“We’re excited to announce the public preview of Collaborative notes, the new way to drive your work forward: collaborate on the agenda, take notes together, and track follow-up tasks. Collaborative notes eliminate the typical bottleneck of a single note-taker for capturing the agenda and notes and also makes them visible to everyone, improving accuracy and inclusion at every stage of your meeting,” Microsoft said in a blogpost.

According to the company, Collaborative notes are Loop components, which stay in sync across all the places they have been shared like Outlook, Teams chat, the Loop app, Word for the web and Whiteboard.

Free Turn Entertainment and Screen Yorkshire announce the launch of Loop; the UK’s first audio drama fund offering paid development for writing talent who live, work or are from the North of England. The initiative is aimed at published writers in film, TV, theatre, games, radio, or literature, who have not yet been exposed to the incredible new creative opportunities presented by the rapidly growing immersive audio drama space.

The initiative, which will be delivered through a series of online and in-person sessions in Leeds will run for five months from August 2023. Loop will offer writers from the North of England a best-in-class programme of paid development and mentoring to develop, pitch and create genre-spanning audio, for global audiences.

The fiction series is a raucous satire inspired by the real-life goings on behind the scenes when politician Gro Harlem Brundtland came to power in Norway in 1981. The power struggles and backroom bickering in the show bring to mind “Veep” and “In the Loop.”

Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s latest pic, The Beasts (As bestas), dominated the main prizes, taking home nine gongs, including best film and director at the 37th edition of Spain’s Goya awards Saturday evening.

The pic debuted at Cannes last year and led the Goya award nominations with 17 nods. The film’s story follows a middle-aged French couple who move to a small village, seeking closeness with nature. However, their presence inflames two locals to the point of outright hostility and shocking violence.

New Delhi, Jan 24 (Ians) Microsoft has introduced a new feature to Teams — Loop Component, which will allow real-time editing in chat.

With this, participants will be able to compose and edit anything ranging from an agenda, checklist, table, task list or paragraph, and more.

The new feature comes available in both Teams meeting chat and Teams chat, the company mentioned.

To use the feature, underneath the chat text box, select the Loop component icon to reveal a menu of components, and then select a component, such as an agenda.

After that, a draft will appear to which participants can add a title and start drafting content to share or even leave it as a blank template.

Participants can also edit the sharing permission level at the top, which is usually set to “people within your organisation with the link can edit”.

Last year’s Emmys saw Netflix’s “The Crown” and Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” lead the nomination tally with 24 noms each. This year, the head authority in that realm is expected to be HBO’s “Succession” with a forecasted 25 noms, which include 13 for acting. If achieved, it will tie the all-time most acting nominations record for any series, long held by the ABC limited series “Roots” (1977). In addition, it would surpass the 20-year record for most acting noms for a drama series held by “The West Wing” (NBC) in 2002. Noteworthy are a few guest acting stars that aren’t predicted, but on the bubble that could increase that number.

Exclusive: All3Media-backed Little Dot Studios’ Head of Arts Catherine Bray has departed to focus on UK indie Loop.

Bray joined Little Dot six years ago as Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 shorts strand Random Acts, which featured the likes of Mae Martin, Asa Butterfield and Noel Fielding.

She was promoted to Head of Arts in 2019, overseeing three years of BBC iPlayer strand Inside Cinema along with podcasts and specials.

Bray was previously running Loop on the side with producers Anthony Ing and Charlie Shackleton. The indie is developing two scripted films with the BFI and Field of Vision and has previously had features play at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and 2021 BFI London Film Festival. Bray has also produced essay films Guilt-Free Pleasures and Meet the Family for BBC Four via Loop.

Eduardo Rivero’s debut feature “A Costume for Nicholas,” Bernardita Ojeda’s “Petit Season Two” and Alberto Vázquez’s “Homeless Home” won big at Saturday’s 4th Quirino Awards, which prize animated films and series from Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

Winners picked up their plaudits at a on-site ceremony held at La Laguna in Spain’s Canary islands.

“A Costume for Nicholas,” from Mexico, took best feature, winning out in a category whose four nominees included three Mexican productions.

The third movie from Mexico’s Fotosintesis Media, a social a cause-driven entertainment label set up by the Mantarraya Group and producer-director Miguel Uriegas (“The Stone Boy”), the toon movie is co-produced by Mexico’s Pēek Paax animation studio.

Marking Uriegas’ debut as screenwriter, the feature follows Nicholas, a 10-year-old orphan with Down syndrome who dons magical costumes from his mom to save his brother from nightmares and the world from chaos.

"Tales From The Loop" draws inspiration from the creativity of Swedish artist Simon Stalenhag to set up a portrait of heartland America. Packaged as sci-fi drama, the eight-episode series comprises eight standalone stories set against a common backdrop where the extraordinary is a way of life.

The backdrop is a fictional Ohio locality and the extraordinary factor is the titular Loop, above which the locals live. The series explores the lives of these people, and how the Loop -- a machine that can realise the impossible -- affects their existence.

Stalenhag's artwork is trademarked by seemingly out-of-place sci-fi motifs that find a harmonious coexistence in canvases of gorgeous landscapes. The series tries capturing that impact in its motion picture frames, as everyday human life of the townsfolk finds a surreal balance with the Loop.
