Exclusive: Canada’s CBC has unveiled trailer and premiere date for Saint Pierre, the procedural set on a remote Atlantic island starring and created by Allan Hawco.

Saint Pierre follows Inspector Donny “Fitz” Fitzpatrick (Hawco). After digging too deeply into a local politician’s nefarious activity, he is exiled to work in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon – the French Territory nestled in the Atlantic Ocean. Fitz’s arrival disrupts the life of Deputy Chief Geneviève “Arch“ Archambault, a Parisian transplant who is in Saint-Pierre for her own intriguing reasons and is played by Joséphine Jobert (Death in Paradise). James Purefoy (Sex Education) rounds out main cast. In addition to Jobert, Hawco and Purefoy, the series includes Benz Antoine as Marcus, Erika Prevost (The Boys) as Patty and Jean-Michel Le Gal as Renuf.

NBA All-Star Anthony Davis has set an executive team for his new project Jakm3n Productions. Davis will continue to serve as the company’s CEO while producer Arik Burks will be COO and Keith Chamberlain, who manages logistics at the Los Angeles Lakers, will be Cao. The production company said its goal was to “create a platform for change by embracing diversity, championing meaningful stories, and giving back to the community, making a positive impact both on and off the screen.”

“We have an incredible team at Jakm3n,” said Davis. “Arik and Keith bring a wealth of experience and a shared passion for our mission. Together, we’re building a company that values creativity, authenticity, and social responsibility.”

The recently launched Toonz Feature Film and China’s Golden Valley Films have struck a co-production and co-financing deal for six animated pictures over the course of the next three years.

The companies will also jointly oversee the sale and distribution of the titles, kicking off at the upcoming Cannes Market where executives of both companies will work side-by-side out of the same offices.

The titles include Pierre The Pigeon-Hawk, led by songwriter and rapper will.i.am as the titular protagonist in the voice cast with other members including Jennifer Coolidge, Luis Guzmán, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Whoopi Goldberg and Howie Mandel.

The film, which is due for delivery in 2024, was previously announced as being sold internationally by The Highland Group but the company is no longer involved in the project. CAA Media Finance is handling domestic sales.

The slate also features Toonz and Gold Valley China’s previously announced co-production Little Emma.

While le film français folks believe they have exclusive news on Nina Hoss and Chiara Mastroianni being cast in Claire Burger anticipated third feature (we reported on them being cast back in September), the actual big news is that Lilith Grasmug of Bloody Oranges (read review), The Passengers of the Night and Foudre (read review) fame (along with the upcoming La Morsure) will topline the project revolving around two adolescents Fanny and Léna. Singer wrote the script for Reptile with Benjamin Brewer, with Netflix acquiring worldwide rights to the film from Black Label Media late last month. It’s not yet clear what roles the newest cast members will play.

Tara Nicole Whitaker will make her feature directorial debut with “Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk,” an upcoming musically-driven animated film which she will co-direct alongside John D. Eraklis.

The film’s cast includes such heavy-weight talents as Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Coolidge, Kenan Thompson, Howie Mandel, Luis Guzmán, Paul Blackthorne, Jamal Trulove, Domenick Lombardozzi, Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson. Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson and Snoop Dogg recently joined the ensemble voice cast and will executive produce “Pierre The Pigeon-Hawk,” which is intended to promote diversity, inclusion, and community.

“I am beyond delighted to join this incredible team of artists, musicians and storytellers to explore Pierre’s world and bring this wonderfully vibrant and inspiring tale of self-discovery to life,” Whitaker said in a statement.

Exclusive: Whoopi Goldberg and Jasmine Guy are set for recurring roles in Amazon’s Harlem, the comedy series from Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip), Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions and Universal TV.

Created, written and executive produced by Oliver, Harlem, formerly the Untitled Tracy Oliver Project, is a single-camera comedy following the lives of four black women, friends from their college days at NYU, as they navigate sex, relationships and chasing their dreams.

Goldberg plays Dr Elise Pruitt, the brilliant, intense new department head at Columbia University with a warmth that has a fragile on/off switch.

Guy portrays Patricia, Quinn’s wealthy mom who wants her daughter to give up her seemingly failing career as a designer and just settle down.

Los Angeles-based Highland Film Group has boarded animated feature Pierre The Pigeon-Hawk for sales as it emerged that Howie Mandel has joined the voice cast.

The company plans to launch pre-sales around the time that Cannes takes place, either physically or virtually.

Luis Guzmán, Paul Blackthorne, Jamal Trulove, Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson have also joined the project. Previously announced cast are Nick Cannon, Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Coolidge, and Kenan Thompson.
