I thought it was entertaining. I couldn't understand the negative reviews. They compared it to other shows, but not ones I'm familiar with. Perhaps my bar is low, but if so, I am blissfully unaware of it.

I was lucky enough to be able to binge watch all 6 episodes of the first series. The only disappointment was that there were only 6 episodes.
There are so many good things going for this show, it really is a laugh a minute, no crudeness, just real laughs and funny situations all the way through.
Bring on series 2.

If you like the classic good British humour, then this is worth watching.
Well directed, acted and produced.
Ignore the knockers and bad reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and I just hope that this is not another one season wonder. Bring on Season 2!

A young married couple, Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe), inherit a large countryside estate called Button House following the death of a distant great aunt on Alison's side of the family. However unbeknownst to the two, Button house is filled with all manner of ghosts ranging from pre-civilization cavemen to lecherous Members of Parliament who died in compromising fashion who are none too happy with the couple's intentions of turning Button House into a Bed & Breakfast and disturbing their peace and solitude. After Alison is push from a window by one of the ghosts and suffers massive head trauma, Alison finds she's able to see the Ghosts which leads to all manner of complications as Alison and Mike try to live side by side with the ghosts with comic friction aplenty.
Ghosts is the latest project from the comedic troupe behind Horrible Histories and Yonderland and marks the Troupes first "post watershed" project. The idea of a haunted house for a sitcom occurred to the troupe towards the end of Horrible Histories according to Mathew Baynton and the idea of the tedium of eternity helped to develop the idea further and mixing in the acerbic historically based humor along the lines of Blackadder while incorporating tonal references of Beetlejuice and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Ghosts with its creative premise and wonderfully realized characters both living and dead makes Ghosts a real treat.
Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe make good protagonists with the two exhibiting a natural chemistry as Alison and Mike respectively and the added dynamic of only Alison being able to see the Ghosts while Mike is only aware of their presence leads to some terrific set pieces where the POV changes from Alison's noise filled POV to Mike's quiet POV and yields strong humor in the execution. All the ghosts have memorable personalities with everyone is the cast bringing a unique element to their character who are all unique with characters such as a World War II Captain, a Georgian era romantic poet whose works are more hackneyed than romantic, or a headless Tudor nobleman whose head and body are often at odds and over the course of the series we get to know more about the ghosts' histories and personalities as they form an unconventional "quasi-family" unit with Alison and Mike as the two will often help the ghosts and vice versa and really gives these characters a feeling of warmth and likability while also allowing them to be selfish and funny.
In case it hasn't been made crystal clear, Ghosts will undoubtedly be situated in my top 10 best TV comedies (maybe even top 5) and despite there only being three series thus far (with a fourth confirmed) you'll get more than you'd expect in laughs and then some. Great characters, great premise, just all around great series. Go watch it.

This show is amazing and sucks you in from the 1st episode. All characters are very unique and interesting and you come to like them all. Witty humor, smart dialogs and great script just keep it going.
It's one of my favorite shows and I wish there would be more seasons as so far there are only 2.

This is the kind of show you watch you need a break from watching any shows. This is delightful. The biggest selling point of the show is the characters. Written so well and witty, one can do nothing but instantly fall in love.
The premise is fun and silly. The ambiance is truly fresh too. The location is so beautiful, whenever I watch I feel like being there.
But let's not get fooled by the silly fun premise, you do see a lot o deep lesson taught in a very light-hearted way. The inclusivity is all one of the most amazing thing about this show.
CONCLUSION : It is short, fun, silly, funny and cute.

The team behind this are brilliant, horrible histories, yonderland, and ghosts. My whole family love this show, it is very funny and all of the characters work fantastically well.

For me the fact that people are likening this to a seventies comedy series is good, a decade that brought us sitcoms that were actually funny, unlike most of what's produced nowadays. It is very much a mix of Rentaghost, Horrible Histories and from what I recall a show called Shadows.
It isn't going to be to everyone's taste, as it is just good old fashioned silly British humour, there's nothing particularly clever or high brow about it, just good old fashioned humour to watch with the family.
Good cast, Katie Wix in particular was very funny.
I'm glad to see something different. 7/10

Absolutely captured me from the beginning, loved it!
I very rarely find what is packaged "comedy" to raise even a small titter out of me these days but Ghosts .....Haaa Haaa haaa. I was yukking it up and now I'm really sad it's finished. More please, and hurry up.
Congratulations to all involved. You are brilliantly talented !

From the Horrible Histories team comes a truly joyous half hour of mad cap entertainment. For those old enough to remember Rentaghost, the writers have struck a nice balance of silly childish humour and something adults can enjoy in equal measure. Which lets face it is something of a rarity these days. 7/10

Ghosts is a gem of a show, brilliant characters. However, I would strongly advise avoiding the Christmas 2023 episode, which is the shows grand finale.
Not only does the episode fail in terms of the expected quality, it ends on a sour not, ruining the episodes that have come before.
It honestly feels like the writers were sick of their creation and wanted to end it in a rushed, completely out of character way.
The seasons that came before it were heart warming, and lovely, creating a brilliant atmosphere. All of which is ruined in the space of a single episode.
For an example of how to do a grand finale correctly please check out the other BBC series, the Detectorists.

Ghosts is truely special it makes you laugh and at time may make one cry. Its comfort and warmth and pure unapologetic joy. Each character is portrayed in the most meaningful and beautiful way. Its a show that the whole family can enjoy. Ghosts is a beautifully written show that makes people feel warm. Its more than just a show as it has a whole community of people that it has brought together in the best way possible. You could not hope for a better cast or crew. Not many shows are as well fought out and loved as ghosts is. It is one of the comedy greats and hopefully will be watched for years to come.

Great premise for a sit com, with ghosts from different periods of time 'living' together.
They Horrible Histories team is always funny, with well-written dialogue that makes me laugh out loud "Dammit Fanny"!
So glad this has been commissioned for a second series.

I am very picky with my tv shows. I also don't love shows set in the U.K. due to having a bit of difficulty making out certain words. I also don't leave reviews about TV shows till the season is over. However, with this show I had to make an exception so I could let the people that may be interested know that it is great. It is also hilarious. I find myself laughing out loud several times a episode and usually things aren't funny enough for me to even LOL! I have never heard of Charlotte Ritchie but her reactions to everything are on point and hilarious. I love this show so much , I would shout it on roof tops if I could. I don't feel there are many shows this good on tv and definitely not any that make me laugh , like this one does. It's clever and witty- go watch it!

Passed the 6 laugh test easily in both episodes. My family and I are Horrible History fans and was made up with their latest artistic outing. Really funny enjoyable show.

I loved this series about a young couple dealing with a mansion haunted by quirky ghosts from the start. It's so funny, and the actors do a great job in their eccentric roles. Me and my girlfriend binged through the first two season in no time and are eagerly awaiting the third. Hopefully in that one they'll finally give us Kitty's backstory!
Highly recommended.
Highly recommended.
Best new BBC comedy since Car Share. The Horrible Histories team have come up with an original and very funny comedy. Just what I needed after watching two episodes of the hyped up 'Fleabag' which is as funny as being charged £12 for a sandwich.

A venture into the hilarious side of ghosts haunting a country home, inherited by a couple who would like to turn it into something profitable. The problem is, the ghosts of the past has plans of their own.
And so, this is where chaos and mayhem begins !

It's so funny, slightly inappropriate sometimes. I'd recommend it (especially) to anyone who has watched Horrible Histories because it has all the same main characters, they work very well together. 10/10
I gave this a 7.5 because it is just getting started and I will have to see more before I give more points. So far I laughed all through this 30 min episode and was wishing it was longer. I will put this on the same level as What We Do In the Shadows...off beat comedy....those ghosts were funny and silly and a great watch. I am hoping it stays silly with those crazy ghosts along with those unsuspecting two young people. I liked it and was a good laugh all around.

So much better than American comedy. And yes I am American, but I hate crap like Seinfeld etc. this is actual comedy. Robin had me rolling LOL
This is well worth the watch. and as lurchjones stated, "Ignore the sniffy reviews" they all have sticks up their a$$es
