However, before the global acclaim and accolades, Spirited Away wasn’t always easy to bring to American audiences and it certainly wasn’t straightforward. A lot of hard work and advocacy came from American partners of Hayao Miyazaki.

One of them was John Lasseter, the former Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, who played a huge part in convincing Walt Disney Pictures to buy the rights and took personal responsibility for the English dub.

According to Hayao Miyazaki, the creative office had heavily advocated for Spirited Away to come to an American audience. Zilbalodis was still in high school, in Latvia, and dreaming of a career in animation, when he created a short film inspired by his pet feline. It was a simple tale, about a cat who overcomes his fear of water. “Many, many years later,” says Zilbalodis, “I decided to revisit this premise and make a feature film.”

The result, Flow, is a long way from that hand-drawn short. Sad news has surfaced, as country singer/songwriter and renowned actor, Kris Kristofferson has died at the age of 88. The star’s representative has stated he died ‘peacefully’ at his Maui home, surrounded by family.

Kristofferson passed away on Saturday, September 28.

Hilary Swank has signed on for a recurring guest star role in “Yellowjackets” Season 3, Variety has confirmed.

The Oscar winner’s character in the Paramount+ with Showtime series is being kept under wraps. She will appear alongside cast members Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Samantha Hanratty, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Lauren Ambrose, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves. It was previously announced that Joel McHale will guest star in the new season.

Production is currently taking place in Vancouver, Canada, for the highly anticipated Yellowjackets season 3, and we can't wait to see the horror series return next year! We've just learned some good news about the upcoming season and it involves a new cast addition.

Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank has reportedly joined the cast of Yellowjackets for its third season. This news comes only a month after learning that Joel McHale (Animal Control) joined the cast. Unfortunately, like McHale's casting, it's unknown who Swank will be playing in the series. All that was revealed about her casting is that she'll be taking on a recurring guest star role. However, Deadline reports that there's a possibility she could be upped to series regular if there is to be a fourth season.

I don't know about you, but I'm a fan of Swank and would love to see more of her in Yellowjackets.

Filming for Season 3 started in May of this year and is scheduled for a 2025 premiere.

Described as a comedic slasher movie, Get Away from director Steffen Haars (Krazy House) has been acquired by IFC Films and Shudder, and the trailer has arrived this week.

The film was previously titled Svalta, and it’s hitting theaters from IFC Films on December 6, 2024. From what we understand, Get Away will slash into Shudder in 2025.

Written by and starring Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), the film follows a family on their summer vacation to a remote island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family.
