During the casting process, director Christoph Schultz spotted Rachel Gold at another audition on the same floor and ran after to her to ask if she would audition blindly for him. As she left the room, Rachel poked her head back in to ask what the audition was for. She accepted the lead role hours later and began filming the following week.
