The greatest Artists of all time seem to have emerged fully formed from the ether of musical legend as if their success had been simply undeniable and preordained. As if Donna Summer didn’t so much write “Love to Love Ya Baby,” as manifest it; as if Kiss’ timeless anthem “Rock N’ Roll Nite” wasn’t so much composed, as delivered fully-realized from hard rock Valhalla directly to Paul Stanley and Gene Simmon’s fingertips.

Warning: Spoilers for Thor #31Marvel Comics is trying to turn Doctor Doom into the next Thanos by making him retrace the steps of the Mad Titan, but it's ignoring the fact that Doom is already a charismatic and established villain on his own.
In Thor #31, by Torunn Grønbekk, Donny Cates, Nic Klein, and Matt Wilson, Thor and Jane Foster team up to find out who is behind the recent troubles affecting Asgard. Valhalla is mysteriously empty and abandoned, and when the two heroes go to Hel to investigate, they find out that the Goddess of the Dead, Hela, is also missing. At the end of the issue, it is revealed that Doctor Doom is keeping Hela prisoner, and he is possibly also responsible for whatever is happening to the realms of the dead.

This article contains spoilers for Record of Ragnarok seasons 1 and 2.
If there was a death match between humans and gods, who would triumph?
Think again before assuming immortals have the advantage. In Record of Ragnarok, which might be the most metal anime ever (down to screaming guitar riffs of the soundtrack), the most powerful humans who ever lived face off against the fiercest deities in Valhalla for humanity to have a chance at surviving another thousand years.
Humans can compete against the likes of Thor and Zeus because they get a power boost from the Valkyries. When the soul of a human and Valkyrie merge, it creates a Völundr—a Divine Weapon. The Völundr can make a mortal capable of godlike things that would otherwise be impossible to pull off. This doesn’t always mean victory. Apparently, the souls of the dead can die again, and even the divine can perish,...

A Vikings: Valhalla season 3 trailer reveals a first look at its new locations. Created by Jeb Stuart, the sequel to Vikings premiered on Netflix last year, tracking the adventures of characters like Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson) and more. Set over a century after the events of its predecessor, the series explores increasing tensions in England and conflicts surrounding the Norse, building towards the eventual end of the Viking Age. Season 2 debuted in January, and as Vikings: Valhalla continues to receive praise, a lot of anticipation surrounds its future episodes.
Vikings: Valhalla season 2 introduced Jomsborg and established its status moving forward. Now, it looks like the next installment of the show will feature additional new settings.

There's an interesting reason why Thor wasn't distraught about Iron Man's Avengers: Endgame death, and it has something to do with his heritage. As part of the original Earth's Mightiest Heroes roster, Tony Stark and the God of Thunder had been in many battles together. While they didn't get many one-on-one conversations, they still developed some kind of friendship born out of their shared experiences. So, it's curious why Thor didn't look as distraught as the other Avengers did when Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame.
Thanos' Avengers: Infinity War snap randomly snuffed half of life in the universe out of existence. Miraculously, however, all six original Avengers survived the ordeal, sending them on one final mission together — undo to the Decimation and bring back everyone affected by it. While they successfully achieved that goal, Iron Man still had to sacrifice his life to ensure a future that wasn't threatened by the Thanos.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continued the stories of Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), and Harald (Leo Suter), but it also carried on with a big Leif Erikson mistake that season 3 will have to fix. After the attack on Kattegat led by Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), Vikings: Valhalla season 2 caught up with the previously mentioned characters as they hid from Olaf’s army and tried to find a safe place. Leif eventually reunited with Freydis and Harald, although briefly as they met a Jomsviking named Jorundr (Stanislav Callas), who took Freydis to Jomsborg while Harald and Leif went on a different adventure.
Although Vikings: Valhalla season 1 ended with Leif unleashing his inner berserker, season 2 left that behind and followed Leif and Harald to Novgorod and then to Constantinople. Season 2 also gave Leif a new romance thanks to Mariam (Hayat Kamille), an astronomer who taught him how to read and...

Comedian and Grammy presenter Randy Rainbow has heard all the Valhalla jokes.
“Yes, I totally had a Travolta/Adel Dazeem moment,” he says in an apology tweet today.
Presenting the first-ever Grammy for video game music during the pre-show Premiere Ceremony, co-host Rainbow mangled the pronunciation of the winner Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, saying something like “Assassin’s … .Creed Valaha.”
In a tweet titled “With sincerest apologies to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” Rainbow — who was nominated in the Best Comedy Album category — explains: “It was the second category of the show, I was still finding my footing and don’t know video games. The Vikings sequel series, Vikings: Valhalla, continues to tell the stories of Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), and Freydis Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), but it also continues to make Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) even more impressive. Vikings covered the first years of the Viking Age through the stories of Ragnar, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Rollo (Clive Standen), and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), but there’s still more to tell about the Vikings and their achievements, and that’s what Vikings: Valhalla is here for.
Vikings: Valhalla is set over 100 years after the events of the main series and covers the final years of the Viking Age, with the conflict between Christians and pagans at its core. Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continues the stories of Leif (Sam Corlett), Harald (Leo Suter), and Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), and while it was an exciting season, it also confirmed that it will never beat its predecessor: Vikings. Although Vikings covered the first years of the Viking Age and explored the stories of legendary figures like Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagertha, there are many more stories to tell, and that’s where Vikings: Valhalla comes in. The sequel series to Vikings is set over 100 years after the events of the main series, following a new generation of warriors struggling with different issues, with the conflict between Christians and pagans at the core.
Vikings: Valhalla season 2 saw Leif, Freydis, and Harald reuniting briefly following the invasion of Kattegat, and while Olaf (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) put a price on their heads, Freydis was taken to Jomsborg, and Leif and Harald traveled to Novgorod before sailing to Constantinople.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Thor: Love and Thunder”
Sometimes, Marvel uses their mid- and post-credits stingers simply to poke fun at the audience. But most times, they use them to set up a little extra piece of the future of the MCU. The latter is the case for both of the “Thor: Love and Thunder” credits scenes — but the second one may have just opened up a new realm entirely.
The bad news is, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) didn’t survive the film. As it turns out, in the time since we’ve seen her in “Thor: The Dark World,” she got cancer, and it progressed very quickly. Though Mjolnir initially seems to help her keep the disease at bay — and turns her into the badass Mighty Thor — eventually, we learn that the magic hammer was actually draining the energy she had left in her body and robbing her of...

The scuzziness, excitement and history-making music of 70s club Max’s Kansas City thunders through Danny Garcia’s nostalgic documentary

In this weekly data series powered by Parrot Analytics we look at the top breakout shows of the past week. Breakout shows are the most in-demand series that have premiered in the past 100 days. The biggest winner on this week’s list of the 10 most in-demand new shows was Netflix’s “Vikings: Valhalla,” according to Parrot Analytics data. Since the “Vikings” sequel premiered on Feb. 25, the show recorded 19.4 times the average series demand in its first week. Netflix clearly knows it has a winner on its hands as it already renewed “Valhalla” for two more seasons. The original series from the History Channel had consistently high demand during its initial run, with its final season premiering on Amazon Prime Video. The original is available to stream on several platforms in the U.S. — Prime Video, Hulu and Peacock — but not Netflix. Netflix’s decision to make its own series despite...

Netflix is in it for the long haul with Vikings: Valhalla.
The streamer on Wednesday confirmed a renewal for Vikings: Valhalla Seasons 2 and 3, just weeks after its series debut.
The series premiered on February 25 and ranks #1 on the Netflix Top 10 for the week of 2/28 with 113.38M hours viewed, making the Top 10 in 90 countries.
The series garnered 80.5M hours viewed during its first two days the week prior bringing it to an impressive 194M hours viewed in its first nine days.
A renewal was not a surprise since Netflix initially ordered 24 episodes, so splitting it up into three seasons appears to be the way forward.
The series chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

Arkansas hard-rock yowler Amy Lee of Evanescence cut quite a unique figure when she first showed up in the mid-’00s. The nu-metal scene that the singer asserted herself into wasn’t just male-dominated, it was asshole-dominated. But Lee rose above that wan world of bellyaching and bad facial hair like a mythic beast, thanks to her enormous vocal power and messy, fresh-faced emo-goth charisma. Evanescence got kind of arty on their last album, 2017’s classically-tinged Synthesis. But they’re back to the sturm und drang basics on The Bitter Truth,...

Ubisoft, the publisher of Assassin's Creed, has taken a detour from the action/adventure roots of the game and turned towards providing gamers with an action-rpg package. With the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins, the action-rpg foundation of Assassin’s Creed has been well established.

The recent additions to this list of ARPGs include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and the recently released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. However, fans of the franchise have had a lingering question as to which aspects make these games good or if Odyssey is better than Valhalla.
While both of the games have qualities that make them individually brilliant, certain areas have been handled better by Odyssey, while Valhalla takes the cake in other areas. For a gamer who is confused between these two titles, it would be worthwhile to know...

“News of the World” and “Sound of Metal” led all films in nominations for the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ Golden Reel Awards, the Mpse announced on Monday. The two films each received three nominations in the seven Golden Reel film categories, including in the Feature Effects/Foley category, the Mpse category that most closely corresponded to the Oscars’ Best Sound Editing category.
(This year, the Academy has merged what were two sound categories, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, into a single Best Sound category.)
Other nominees in the effect/foley category were “Cherry,” “Greyhound,” “The Midnight Sky,” “Tenet” and “Wonder Woman 84.” Films with two nominations include “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “The Midnight Sky,” “Tenet,” “Wonder Woman 84” and “Greyhound.”

This article contains spoilers for the final season of Vikings.
In its final season Vikings tied up the story of Ragnar and his sons, and ended with a pitch-perfect, almost poetic, coda. Ragnar, however, was just the beginning of the Vikings’ story.
Later this year, Netflix will bring us the saga’s concluding chapter, Vikings: Valhalla. Set more than 150 years after the events of its parent show, Vikings: Valhalla charts the Vikings’ last glorious push as a cultural force with which to be reckoned, while chronicling some of the early 11th century’s most intrepid, influential and powerful figures.
Based on the latest casting announcement, expect to encounter such historical luminaries as Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett) and Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), the children of Erik the Red; the ambitious and politically astute Emily of Normandy (Laura Berlin); the slippery Earl Godwin (David Oakes); the infamous King Cnut (Bradley Freegard) one...

“Vikings: Valhalla,” the upcoming follow-up to the History Channel’s recently concluded epic “Vikings” saga, has confirmed its cast members. The sequel, which is set in the 11th century (100 years after the events of its predecessor), will debut exclusively on Netflix. MGM Television is returning to produce.
Portraying some of the most famous Norse warriors that ever lived on their legendary adventures are actors Sam Corlett (Leif Erikkson), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis Eriksdotter), Leo Suter (Harald Sigurdsson), Bradley Freegard (King Canute), Jóhannes Jóhannesson (Olaf Haraldson), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), David Oakes (Earl Godwin) and Caroline Henderson (Jarl Haakon). Actors slated for recurring roles include Pollyanna McIntosh as the calculating and ambitious Queen Ælfgifu of Denmark and Asbjørn Krogh Nissen as Jarl Kåre, described only as a “threat to the old pagan ways.”
“Vikings” debuted on the History Channel in 2013 and was notably the network’s first attempt at original scripted programming.

If you were looking for major character decisions, Vikings Season 6 Episode 15 was the episode for you.
The series is quickly picking up the pace as we head toward the finish line, and we lost two pivotal characters amid all of the madness.
Gunnhild giving herself up to the sea was as beautiful as it was tragic. If you watch Vikings online, you know Gunnhild has been struggling in the aftermath of Bjorn's death.
Heck, she was struggling before we got to that point, largely because Bjorn brought another woman into their marriage, and they went on to lose their child.
But Gunnhild could have gone through with the wedding and lived a happy life with Harald and Ingrid. That would not have been honorable in her book.
The beauty of a death like Gunnhild's is that the character took her fate into her own hands and made a decision of...

Vikings Season 6 Episode 14
“We should never forget our past. Ever.”
Perhaps Gunnhild says it best when she confides in her dead husband Bjorn that “the time for great heroes is over,” a statement that speaks to the loss of direction so many of the characters now experience as the Viking age reaches a crossroads. “Lost Souls” journeys through a complicated tangle of feelings that focus on the leadership vacuums a new world order sets into motion. Despite all of the upheaval, Vikings continues its string of solid episodes and deftly previews the impending battles in Rus and on the land settled by Ubbe and the Icelanders.
While Prince Oleg prepares to attack his brother Dir and Kjetill justifies his destructive and selfish behavior, the village of Kattegat stands ready to welcome its new ruler. There’s plenty of intrigue here, and even though Gunnhild stands...

Was it a trick, or was it fate?
That's the question I've been asking myself ever since watching Vikings Season 6 Episode 11, which I've watched multiple times to pick up on all of the nuances of what is probably my favorite episode of the entire series.
If you watch Vikings online, you know Bjorn was dead as a doornail on Vikings Season 6 Episode 10, but somehow, he managed to save Kattegat and die a hero.
After making some downright questionable decisions, Bjorn will probably be remembered more than his father and mother. Still, you can't deny the family as a whole will be remembered for generations to come.
Kattegat seemed destined for doom, especially with this being the first of the final ten episodes. There were so many ways this could go, and I have to give credit to Michael Hirst, who penned "King of Kings," as well as every episode that came before it.

The Game Awards 2020 are almost here, which means that it’s almost time for what’s quickly become one of the gaming industry’s biggest events of the year.

Magic: The Gathering‘s next Standard expansion might not be scheduled to arrive for a few months as yet, but that hasn’t stopped numerous assets from leaking online ahead of launch.
For those not aware, the cold expanse of Kaldheim is first in Wizards of the Coasts’ intended stops for 2021, a plane that’s particularly noteworthy for being, until now at least, completely unexplored. Unlike Innistrad, Zendikar or Ravnica, little is known about this world beyond its inhospitable climate and natives, which are said to draw heavy inspiration from Norse mythology. Vikings, world trees and multiple references to Valhalla will no doubt be par for the course, then, and judging by today’s leaks, it looks as if Wizards has opted to go with a rather metal styling for Kaldheim‘s packaging.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Viking world, fresh mechanics, and new characters help distinguish it from the franchise’s best titles, but some of Valhalla‘s greatest qualities are the ways it refines the trademark elements of older Assassin’s Creed games.
That includes a laundry list of Easter eggs. The Assassin’s Creed series has always benefited from some impressive and often elaborate Easter eggs, but we’d dare say that Valhalla features the franchise’s best collection of hidden references yet.
While it’s going to be a long time before all of the game’s hidden references and in-jokes are uncovered, these are some of the cleverest Easter eggs in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that have been discovered so far.

Despite releasing 12 Assassin’s Creed installments since 2007, Ubisoft is still finding ways to keep the series fresh, and the latest sequel, Valhalla is one of the best titles yet. Is it a revelation for the series? No—there are very few new ideas presented here. But it’s a polished title with solid gameplay and a story that is exceedingly coherent for an open-world Aaa title.
In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you play as Eivor, a fearsome Viking in 873 Ad who lost her parents in battle, a moment that left her literally scarred and hellbent on getting revenge against the warlord who slaughtered them. It’s important to note that the game gives you the choice to play as a male or female version of Eivor at the start of the game, but you’re also given a third option that allows the Animus to “choose” the gender for you based on the memory being recollected.

A thick fog rolls over the English countryside. The first light of a new day begins to crest the horizon, burning through the mist that covers the river Trent. The air is so thick that it masks the sounds of oars carefully churning over the murky surface. On the bank of the river sits a monastery, full of gold and supplies, and praying men too weak to fight. The longship aims its bow toward the shore, the dulcet sounds of a lute all but forgotten.
This is a raid, and the Vikings aboard the vessel begin to shout and scream with bloodlust as they jump into the water, axes, and shields in hand, charging toward the huge stone structures glowing dark in the brightening fog. A fierce battle is joined as the king’s soldiers try desperately to hold back the imposing horde. But they can’t. The battle is over before it even began.

The seemingly simple act of choosing the gender of Assassin Creed Valhalla‘s protagonist, Eivor, has proven to be a surprising source of controversy in recent months.
While some of that controversy has been fueled by the misogynistic concerns of the Gamergate crowd, the more fascinating story in this instance is a debate over whether the male or female version of Eivor is the canonical way to play the game.
To be honest, I thought that this debate was settled months ago when Ubisoft revealed in July that you’d be able to change Eivor’s gender at any time and that it would be “the same story of the character—whatever options your character decides.” That seemed to suggest that Valhalla would differ from Odyssey which let you choose your character’s gender but ultimately presented slightly altered experiences...

I haven't had the best relationship with the Assassin's Creed series over the last 10 years. As time went on, I felt like the series was losing touch with its roots, making the game more about the action and location compared to the overall sprawling story. When Assassin's Creed III was released I felt like the story was truly at the top of its game, but when the main character died, I felt the series turn away from the interconnected story it’d been telling.
At that point I gave up on the series, but then AC Origins and Odyssey were released and the story came back to the forefront...I had hope for the series once again. Even now in 2020, we still can't stop talking about the amazing job Ubisoft did with Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey, but will this tale of Viking Glory live up to the last two games?...

Believe it or not, today marks the two-week countdown to the long-awaited launch of Sony’s next console. While Microsoft will be the party officially kicking off next-gen this time around with the worldwide release of Xbox Series X/S on November 10th, PlayStation 5 is due to follow just two days later, though only in a select few territories, including North America. Folks in Europe and elsewhere will have to exercise patience for an additional week, though in the grand scheme of things, seven days matters very little.
Regardless of which date you have jotted down on your calendar, the launch lineups for both consoles will be identical no matter where they’re purchased, and it’s Sony’s entrant in the race that’s currently the runaway winner in that regard. The long awaited PlayStation 5 is finally hitting stores on November 12th, along with a bunch of new titles for the next-gen console. While some will be launching on the same day as the PS5, many are still in the active development stage. Fans had assumed that these games would be next-gen exclusives, available only on Sony’s new console and the Xbox Series X. This, however, is not the case, as Sony has revealed that they aren’t making the full switch to the PS5 yet and most of the newly released games will still be playable on the PS4 as well as the PS5, with support for the older system extending up to four years in the future.
