The CBS show, Tracker, has recently been moved to an earlier Sunday time slot, and the move seems to be paying off for the hit series. Tracker has already distinguished itself this fall season as one of the most viewed shows on television, and now, the second season of the Justin Hartley-led drama series is set to further stamp its authority. In a recent updated ratings data report, retains its spot as the most-watched entertainment program of the 2024-25 TV season so far. The drama series is also the highest-rated drama while also pulling a slightly larger audience than it averaged in its first season. The report which ranks non-sports program ratings reads, *Trackers gain appears to be The Equalizers loss, as Queen Latifahs spinoff-spawning action drama is now drawing markedly fewer viewers in its (soon to be even) later Sunday time slot."...

I played Starfield at launch and had a blast, but never got around to beating it. There were a bunch of games released late last year, and I enjoyed Lies of P immensely, got the platinum trophy for the brilliant Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and even had a great time with Assassin's Creed Mirage's homage to its predecessors not to mention my forays into Baldur's Gate 3, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, God of War Ragnark: Valhalla, and The Finals all before year's end. All this is to say Starfield got put on the back-burner, and I hadn't felt compelled to jump back in until recently.
A lot has changed in Starfield since the weeks around its launch. Mind you, it's still essentially Oblivion in space a comparison I make endearingly, since the fourth Elder Scrolls was foundational to my love of RPGs but in the lead-up to Starfield's upcoming Shattered Space Dlc,...

Nexus Mods user Nell Drakebane released a free "Faction Story Expansion" for Starfield's Trackers Alliance, adding new quests. The mod is designed for lower-level characters but promises future updates with features like Vendor NPCs and more dungeons. Fans expressed concern over additional bounties needing to be purchased, accusing Bethesda of further monetizing the game.
While many Starfield players were excited to see the Trackers Alliance expanded through the launch of the Creation Kit, one fan opted to release an entire expansion for the faction that didn't require additional payments. Those who fancy themselves intergalactic bounty hunters will likely have already worked for the Trackers Alliance, a group of tough-as-nails fighters who make it their mission to bring down anyone with a price on their head. It's a fun faction, but having several quests locked behind a paywall left a bad taste in many players' mouths.

Tracker came out of the gate strong on CBS, an action drama starring This Is Us Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a survivalist who travels across the U.S. finding missing persons and solving cases for reward money. Based on the Jeffrey Deaver book The Never Game, the series received a second season renewal, set to premiere in October of 2024.
The first season had a healthy 13 episodes, each following the same formulaic setup: Colter receives a case, works the case, gets into some type of danger, and then ultimately solves the case. Each episode also slowly develops an overarching story about Colters own life and fractured family dynamics.

Don't forget to take a break in Starfield - even after 300 hours, players can still find rare, enjoyable events like the interstellar party cruise. Starfield's vast scale means many random encounters may be missed, like the fun ship looking for Uranus or the Mysterious Captain. Players eager for more encounters may turn to community mods or upcoming Dlc from Bethesda to add variety to their sci-fi adventures.
Starfield may be a game about exploring the unknown and expanding the knowledge of the human race, but one player's discovery is a good reminder that sometimes it's necessary to take a break and just relax. Due to the sci-fi RPG's gigantic scale, there are plenty of random encounters that some players may never actually see while they're off in their corner of the cosmos. Astras are a valuable new currency in Starfield, used to trade for rare, epic, and legendary items with a Trackers Alliance trader. Astras can be found throughout the Settled Systems, but players may be able to farm them with specific skill in space combat. Although Astras can guarantee a rarity, certain items traded for them might still be underpowered.
Starfield's June 2024 update brought many changes to the game, including improvements to its Trackers Alliance. This faction allows its members to become true bounty hunters, but it also has a less advertised mechanic which is useful for any Spacefarer. That is because one of its agents has all the legendary gear a player could want - if they have the Astras to pay for it.

Starfield's June update introduced a new quest line and the Trackers Alliance faction, which offers benefits like a new ship, equipment, and bounty scanning. Bounty scanning allows players to find targets in major settlements, providing credits and Persuasion skill increases. The Trackers Alliance provides an easy way to level up Persuasion skill through bounty scanning, making it an organic and convenient addition to the game's core gameplay loop.

Starfield's 1.12.30 update added the Trackers Alliance, a bounty hunter group, and two missions: "The Trackers Alliance" and "The Starjacker." The Vulture, a main bounty quest, was added via Creation for 700 Creation Points, sparking controversy due to its cost. The bounty board system could be used for more devious missions, allowing players to become ruthless assassins, expanding the game's potential for both good and evil.

Bethesda’s tough luck with Starfield continues as the game has once again come under scrutiny. The flurry of criticism came after Bethesda introduced a new mission to Starfield, which cost $7. The negative reviews have piled up so much that Bethesda’s executive producer, Todd Howard, has come ahead and made a statement acknowledging their mistake.
Of course, there is no defending the decision to add essentially a single mission for $7. Todd Howard has acknowledged that Bethesda has screwed up and promised to fix the situation. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from comparing this scenario to Oblivion and Skyrim debacles that happened years ago.
Todd Howard Comes Forward to Address Starfield Controversy The Vulture is a paid quest.
Although the Shattered Space Dlc showcase managed to garner some attention for Starfield, the addition of the new mission in the recent update brought the excitement level back to square one.

Starfield's latest update introduces a Trackers Alliance mission that's only accessible via microtransaction. Players feel disrespected by having to pay extra for additional content in a game they've already bought. The introduction of pay-per-mission content sets a negative precedent for the gaming industry.

Warning: Spoilers for Tracker season 1
Tracker dethroned NCIS as CBS's most-watched show, garnering 10.8 million viewers per week in its first season. Colter Shaw's straightforward approach and diverse cast make Tracker a refreshing watch compared to NCIS. Tracker's cohesive storyline, deep mysteries, and focus on happy endings set it apart from the long-running NCIS series.
Key differences between Justin Hartley's action drama and NCIS allowed Tracker to dethrone the police procedural as CBS' most-watched television show. According to TV show ratings released by TVLine, NCIS had 9.7 million viewers tuning in each week for the 2023-2024 broadcast season, while Tracker topped that, garnering 10.8 million viewers per week in its first season. This achievement for Tracker is even more impressive when taking into consideration that it dethroned NCIS for the first time in five years.

NCIS loses its most-watched show status for the first time in five years, with Tracker surpassing in viewership. Despite being dethroned, NCIS will continue with season 22, showcasing the strength and consistency of the brand. The debut and success of Tracker, led by Justin Hartley, will likely not impact the future of NCIS on CBS.
CBS' long-running police procedural, NCIS, has been dethroned as TV's most-watched show for the first time in half a decade. Premiering in 2003, NCIS was born from the success of Jag. Despite technically being a spinoff, the Navy Yard-based series has long created its own identity, becoming wildly successful. The fact that it has sustained a loyal following for over two decades on the small screen makes its accomplishments more impressive. Unfortunately, NCIS season 21 is met with a setback as it fails to secure its sixth consecutive year as the most-watched series.

NCIS lost its ranking as the top scripted show after 21 seasons, making way for Tracker with 10.8 million viewers. Tracker's success can be attributed to its impressive debut after the Super Bowl and the return of star Justin Hartley. CBS dominated the 2023-2024 TV season with seven shows in the top 10 rankings, including NCIS and Young Sheldon.
For the first time in half a decade, the popular CBS series NCIS has failed to reign atop the television rankings among scripted shows following the conclusion of its 21st season on May 6, 2024. Global Screen, the Munich-based international sales outfit, has boarded worldwide sales on “The Trek,” the upcoming first feature from leading South African cinematographer and director Meekaaeel Adam. The film is a horror-Western, in which starvation, suspicion and madness plague a family as they cross the Kalahari Desert under the eyes of primeval spirits.
“The Trek” is set in 1846, when a Dutch-Afrikaans family and their British travel companion set off on a challenging journey through the Kalahari Desert. Along the way, they meet Atshumao, a stoic man of the Khoen people, one of Southern Africa’s original indigenous, nomadic population groups.
Despite Atshumao’s warning, the group attempts a shortcut through the unforgiving landscape, unaware that this will lead them to cross paths with two ancestral spirits – who will settle a centuries-old dispute by betting on the family’s lives. CBS has put on hold plans to announce its fall 2023 schedule at a reveal event in Los Angeles on May 9. The network will still share its schedule next week, but instead likely by traditional press release.
The party, which was to take place at NeueHouse Hollywood (next door to CBS’ new Hollywood headquarters), was to have served as a replacement for the traditional upfronts event that CBS always held in New York at Carnegie Hall during upfronts week.
Here’s the memo from CBS: “Due to the WGA strike, we are postponing our Fall Schedule Reveal party at NeueHouse on May 9. We plan to reschedule the event at a later date, and look forward to hosting you at that time. The network will still release its new 2023/24 Fall schedule next week.”
Among execs who had been scheduled to attend the party: CBS CEO George Cheeks and new CBS entertainment president Amy Reisenbach.

Set in the foreboding sugar cane fields of KwaZulu-Natal, Fremantle-M-Net crime thriller “Reyka” – starring South African born Kim Engelbrecht, whose credits include “Isidingo,” “Dominion” and “The Flash,” and Iain Glen, Ser Jorah Mormont in “Games of Thrones” – looks set to mark another milestone in both Fremantle and premium South Africa TV production.
For Fremantle, a still expanding scripted drama force, “Reyka” is its first South African show, after it launched last year its first shows from Israel’s Maria Feldman and Chile’s Fabula.
For M-Net, following on “Trackers,” co-produced with HBO and Zdf, “Reyka” marks an early push into large-scale premium international co-production pairing local and international talent as M-Net parent Multichoice, led by Yolisa Phahle, sees some significant success in facing off with Netflix.
Chosen by Variety as one of the 10 buzziest shows hitting MipTV, typically for a Fremantle drama, “Reyka” tackles big ideas from a...

Peacock has acquired the BBC’s Ya drama series Noughts + Crosses, which imagines an alternate world in which Africa colonized Europe — but this new version of history still feels awfully familiar.
Based on the first novel in Malorie Blackman’s Noughts & Crosses series, the six-episode project takes place in a timeline where Africa — or “Aprica” — invaded Europe centuries ago and enslaved its people, instead of the other way around.

A new trailer for Rogue has arrived online. The action/thriller stars Megan Fox, of Transformers and Jennifer's Body fame. It comes from writer/director M.J. Bassett and looks like it could provide a bit of insane fun in a summer movie season that is sorely lacking in that department. Case in point, the main hook is that Fox will be going toe-to-toe with a gigantic, dangerous lion in a woman vs. beast scenario. Let them fight.
The trailer kicks off with Megan Fox leading a team of mercenaries who are looking to capture an asset in Africa. The action ramps up in a hurry with explosions, bullets and a daring escape attempt. Unfortunately, it doesn't go according to play. Fox and her counterparts find themselves on the run, evading a deadly gang. That, on its own, could lay the breadcrumbs for a compelling enough action flick. But then a...

You’ve probably seen our other Covid-19 list, the one where we are examining every cancellation that has taken place as the pandemic takes hold in our community. This is the counterpoint to that “Houston, we have a problem” list; this is the one where we’ll talk about how the show must go on, how the Force will be with us, and, maybe most importantly, how we’ll be back.
IndieWire will continue to update this page with the latest breaking news regarding virtual events, work logistics, TV premieres, and general acts of bravery and kindness. This is the place where we’ll be documenting our return to normalcy — and make no mistake, we’ll get through this. The most recent updates will be posted at...
