Much of the criticism thrown at Alex Garland’s Civil War centered on it presenting the titular conflict without really explaining its origins. Tony Gerber and Jesse Moss’s documentary War Game goes the other way by showing in very specific ways not how a modern-day American civil war might be fought but how one might start.
Gerber and Moss present essentially a filmed play set largely in a mock Situation Room. The unscripted “war game” that they shot as it happened was produced in 2023 by Vet Voice, a veterans’ advocacy group warning about right-wing fanatics infiltrating the American military. Vet Voice brought together a gaggle of real-life politicians, intelligence officials, and military experts to play fictional versions of themselves trying to solve a future crisis based in history: On January 6, 2025, a losing presidential candidate refuses to concede the election and calls on “patriots,” including the military, to stop the vote certification.

Jesse Moss and Tony Gerber’s War Game documents a nifty six-hour exercise in roleplay, commencing on the anniversary of the January 6 United States Capitol attack. Put on by the Vet Voice Foundation in 2023, this bit of roleplay included U.S. officials in both defense and intelligence acting out their response to a fabricated but feasible coup attempt supported by the active military. It’s a stark, scary scenario succinctly laid out by Moss and Gerber, with aide from Janessa Goldbeck, CEO of Vet Voice. The results of the planned practice aren’t very reassuring.

Tom Sizemore, an actor perhaps best known for the role of Mike Horvath in "Saving Private Ryan," has passed away at 61. He is survived by his two children.
The news comes following Sizemore being rushed by paramedics to a hospital in Los Angeles and placed in the intensive care unit in critical condition after he suffered and collapsed from a sudden brain aneurysm at home around 2 a.m. on Saturday, February 18.
A veteran of the screen, Sizemore had been acting since 1989 and has remained incredibly prolific ever since. While his career began with anonymous roles ranging from "2nd Mugger" to "Vet #1," Sizemore quickly became a distinctive character actor with key roles in much-beloved films. He is best known for supporting roles in films such as "Born on the Fourth of July," "True Romance," "Natural Born Killers," "Heat," "Saving Private Ryan," and "Black Hawk Down." It’s gonna be a hot one on the pirate train when Snowpiercer Season 3 pulls away from the proverbial station this Monday night.
When last we tuned into TNT’s dystopian drama, Andre (played by Daveed Diggs) had orchestrated it so that he and a handful of other friendlies explosively broke away from Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) and Big Alice, in their own 10-car pirate train. Before doing so, Andre made sure to hold onto Miss Audrey (Lena Hall), Wilford’s No. 1 gal, so as to ensure the safety of his baby momma Zarah (Sheila Vand), who was still on Big Alice.

When HBO announced last year they were reviving In Treatment, I thought, “Of course.” After all, the drama is perfect for the pandemic era, since it’s a simple set-up of psychologist and patient, just talking in a room — a string of interconnected two-handers, pared down to the barest of dramatic bones. The new revival (debuting Sunday, May 23 at 9/8c) does find plenty of emotional fireworks within that limited format… but it’s a decidedly mixed bag. The series rotates its episodes among four storylines, and some end up being more compelling than others.
