Earlier this year, Sony / Screen Gems announced that they would be giving the horror film Horrorscope a theatrical release on June 28, 2024. But in late October, Paramount announced that they were moving A Quiet Place: Day One from its previously announced March 8, 2024 release date to June 28. So it’s no surprise to hear (via Borys Kit) that Screen Gems has decided to shift Horrorscope forward to May 10th. Thanks to A Quiet Place: Day One, we’re going to see Horrorscope a month earlier.

Screen Gems horror movie Horrorscope had been set for theatrical release on June 28, 2024, a prime summer slot, but we’ve learned this week that Sony has re-dated the movie.
Horrorscope will now release in theaters on May 10, 2024.
Why the move? It may have something to do with the fact that A Quiet Place: Day One is currently dated for theatrical release on June 28, moving into that new date just last month.
Jacob Batalon (“Reginald the Vampire”), Alana Boden (The Invitation), Adain Bradley (Wrong Turn: The Foundation) and Avantika (Senior Year) will star alongside Humberly González (Nobody), Wolfgang Novogratz (Assassination Nation), Larsen Thompson (“The Midnight Club”), Harriet Slater (“Pennyworth”) and Olwen Fouéré (Mandy).
Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen (Moonfall) wrote the script and will direct the movie.

Olivia Macklin and Dylan McTee are set to lead Paul Etheredge’s paranormal parenting thriller “Psychopomp” alongside Shawnee Smith, Avangeline Friedlander and Lily D. Moore.
The horror will spotlight Macklin and McTee as a couple who foster a “mute orphan” (portrayed by Friedlander). The child, however, has endured a calamitous past that will haunt the family.
“This act of love turns to horror when they find themselves besieged by a terrifying entity intent on destroying this newfound family from within,” reads the film’s official logline.
Macklin is best known for her role as Madre in the television miniseries “The Young Pope.” Additionally, she has starred in “Pretty Smart” and “Christmas Always Finds Its Way.” She’ll be seen next in Richard Lagravense’s “A Family Affair” led by Joey King, Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron.

Alan B. McElroy, the writer of Wrong Turn (2003) and Wrong Turn (2021), wants to make more sequels to the latter's reboot. McElroy is a screenwriter whose big break was Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Recently, when Entertainment Weekly looked back on the Wrong Turn franchise, McElroy told the outlet that the idea for the first film was inspired by something that happened to him in real life.
McElroy and his wife were driving to the airport to catch an early morning flight to Jamaica for a vacation when they were caught in a traffic jam. Worried about missing their flight, they consulted a map and took a small side road. "As we're doing that, in the dark, in a snowstorm, we're thinking, 'Is this a smart idea?' Anything could go wrong!" From this experience, McElroy began to develop a short film that would serve as the genesis for the series.

Movies based on cults make up for great concepts not just because we encounter some of them in real life but also because the writers add an eerie element to them. Although gory horror films such as Wrong Turn aren't based on actual events, the recent Wrong Turn: The Foundation is not far from true stories that may have occurred in the real world. These movies show the dreadful reality of cults, which seem to adhere to a false belief system and commit unspeakable atrocities in the name of their cause.
The upcoming psychological thriller The Clearing seeks to keep up the trend by focusing on an exceptionally unique notion. The series, which consists of eight episodes, is based on distressing true stories that occurred in various cults across Australia. Miranda Otto, Teresa Palmer, and Guy Pearce appear in the series based on J. P. Pomare's best-selling novel. While we're discussing this psychological thriller,...

Get ready for a heavy dose of backwoods butchery with Timber Falls, which is now streaming on the Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox streaming service.
Originally released in December of 2007, the Tony Giglio-directed slasher begins when a weekend of camping in the mountains becomes an excursion into hell for a young couple, who become pawns in a grotesque plot hatched by deranged locals. It stars Josh Randall and Brianna Brown.
The film is said to be in the tradition of Stephen King’s Desperation.
Interesting to note for fans of the Wrong Turn movies, Timber Falls was released in Brazil with the title Wrong Turn 2. In Mexico it was released with the title Wrong Turn 3!
Writing for Dread Central at the time, Steve Barton awarded the film a score of 3.5 out of 5, writing, “Timber Falls proves itself to be a cut above the paint-by-numbers crap we’re usually force fed and...

Todd Field returned to filmmaking in a big way this year with “TÁR,” his first movie in 16 years. And both critics and audiences loved the film, with it being one of the Fall’s most anticipated theatrical releases after its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September. Now it appears Field isn’t ready to leave Cate Blanchett‘s Lydia Tár behind. According to the Berlin Film Festival, buried in their most recent update, Field has a new short with the character set to premiere at the Berlinale in February titled “The Foundation.”
Read More: ‘TÁR’: Todd Field Directs Cate Blanchett & The Cast In The Moody Music Video For “Mortar”
No details on the short’s length or its plot, but the “TÁR” cast and crew will be at the Berlinale screening, so expect “The Foundation” to be more than just a deleted scene from the original film.

If you look at the 2023 Grammy nominations in the general field, you’ll notice the absence of one of today’s top genres: country music. Despite being one of the most consumed genres in the United States right now, country artists failed to get a nomination. A few American Roots artists did like Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, and Molly Tuttle, but no country album is nominated for Album of the Year, nor is any country song or artist nominated elsewhere in the big four. This genre snub includes one of the most surprising omissions of the year: buzzy new artist Zach Bryan missing Best New Artist. Indeed, it’s very weird to see Bryan miss in such a wild Bna race, especially to the likes of lesser-known artists you’d think would have less of a shot. But the truth is, country in general hasn’t been the best in terms of general field love.

Jerry’s dating life is one of the greatest running gags on Seinfeld, with his indecisiveness leading to a significant amount of relationships. Outside of Elaine, who Jerry primarily dated before Seinfeld began, the sitcom doesn’t give the title character any long-term relationships. Instead, most of Jerry’s girlfriends are only confined to one-episode arcs, with a select few dating him for at least two installments. From Courteney Cox as Meryl to Jennifer Coolidge as Jodi, the long list of Jerry’s girlfriends on Seinfeld also includes pre-fame roles for many notable actresses.
The DVD extras for Seinfeld season 9 confirm that Jerry dated 73 women across nine years of his life. As it doesn’t seem that all 73 were depicted on-screen, the total includes those who are either seen or alluded to throughout Seinfeld’s nine seasons. With 180 episodes of Seinfeld, Jerry has a new girlfriend in nearly half of the series’ installments.

Stephen King has such a broad reach that it's easy to miss some of the subtler nods and easter eggs that pop up in genre storytelling. When watching "Stranger Things," for instance, it's easy to miss the nods to "Firestarter" -- a story all about a secretive government program that studies and trains psychic kids as weapons. Sometimes the references can be in your face, sometimes more subtle, but just about everybody working in genre storytelling in the last 20-30 years has certainly been influenced by King.

In this world, there are shades of makeup and then there is shade in makeup. TikTok influencer Meredith Duxbury is known for viral TikTok videos ranging from tutorials to product reviews and more. But one negative review has caught the attention of many—including makeup mogul Bobbi Brown. In a recently shared TikTok, Meredith tested out What the Foundation, a tinted moisture balm by the brand Jones Road, which Bobbi created. During her trial, Meredith took a very generous amount from the product's jar and slathered it onto her skin. After applying the product to her face with her hands, a makeup brush and a sponge, Meredith gave her honest opinion: "It's gonna be a no from me. I really...

Declan O’Brien, a writer, producer and director who specialized in horror fare with credits including three sequels in the Wrong Turn franchise, died on February 16 at age 56.
Born in 1965, O’Brien knew from a young age that he would be involved in film. He left for California from Rochester, NY to become an actor. When that didn’t work out, he decided to go to college and get a film degree and graduated from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. He was able to turn that into a full-time profession and became a producer, writer, and director for film and television domestically and internationally.
He made a name for himself in the horror genre by directing and writing Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead, Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, and Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines. Additionally, he directed other horror films including Joy Ride 3: Roadkill, and 2010’s Sharktopus.

A humanitarian aid distribution center, a mild chaos of activity and people, all of them gathering up bags of food and supplies, loading them into SUVs, and heading off down mountain roads. It’s a public-facing show of altruism that gets laid down flat in Romanian filmmaker Radu Muntean’s latest, “Întregalde,” an incisive, mirthlessly amusing satire about the social contours of charity.
The camera briefly settles on Bucharest aid workers Cristina (Carmen Lopazan) and Radu (a quick cameo from director Muntean), and just as quickly abandons them after a scene-setting conversation about grateful aid recipients and the moral quicksand of loving one’s own virtuousness.
The story then follows three volunteers who split off from the other two: easily irritated Dan, pragmatic Ilinca and earnest Maria. Once inside Dan’s Land Rover, they’re free to gossip about Radu and Cristina and the vacation home they’re buying.

When Denis Villeneuve developed “Dune” he turned to Eric Roth to adapt Frank Herbert’s sprawling 1965 saga. Roth had already scored five Oscar nominations for adapting books for the screen, including one win for Robert Zemeckis’ Best Picture-winner “Forrest Gump.” Roth’s other Oscar adaptations include collaborations with directors David Fincher (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), Michael Mann (“The Insider”), Bradley Cooper (“A Star is Born”), and Steven Spielberg (“Munich”).
Roth was not a sci-fi aficionado who adored the Herbert novel, but he saw what Villeneuve could do with it. In a wide-ranging Zoom conversation, Roth and I talked about the agony of being rewritten and his misreading of the power of Netflix when Fincher made his groundbreaking series “House of Cards.”
We also discussed his joyous collaboration with another septuagenarian, Martin Scorsese, turning David Grann’s 2017 non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,...

The Wrong Turn series has become one of the most surprising long-running horror movie franchises in recent memory. The first movie was never an iconic entry into the genre, and it was followed mostly by straight-to-video sequels. But, after six movies in the original series and a new reboot released this year, there is clearly something about the tale of mutant cannibals that appeals to audiences.

Matthew Modine is running for president of SAG-AFTRA again as the leader of Membership First, the union’s opposition party. Joely Fisher, a former national board member, is running for secretary treasurer as his running mate.
Modine was defeated for the presidency by Gabrielle Carteris in a highly contentious election in 2019. In that race, Carteris received 13,537 votes to Modine’s 10,683, with a third candidate, former SAG-AFTRA secretary-treasurer Jane Austin, receiving 5,048 votes. Only 21.2% of the union’s eligible members cast ballots last time.
“The union spends exorbitant amounts of our own members’ money attempting to convince us that our contracts have been successfully negotiated,” Modine said. “The truth is they fall far short of the economic conditions facing performers today. I’m running to ensure that each of the locals across the United States are truthfully and transparently represented.
“One of the biggest issues on the minds of our membership today...

Welcome to the latest edition of our regular crowdfunding feature here on Nerdly – Back This! – where we take a look at some of the cool content taking the crowdfunding route on sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter. This time we’re taking a look at 2 different campaigns, one for a comic book based wrestling federation and the other a new horror movie from the people behind The Special.
Championship Wrestling League #1
Championship Wrestling League is a brand new wrestling promotion, except it’s not on your TV or on YouTube, it’s in a comic book. Pretty much combining two of our favourite things (besides movies) that we love here at Nerdly! The Kickstarter campaign, which ends this week, is for the first issue in a five issue arc that will showcase the Cwl roster as well as follow the feud between Cwl Champion King Terrance King and Scotty Sundown...

To say that remakes suck is very easy to say. There are plenty of examples to show just how classics should not be touched. Remakes have their place in the world of film though, and help new people discover films they never knew existed. Then a movie comes along like Wrong Turn that makes the brave step of being different and being surprisingly good.
A group of friends hiking on the Appalachian Trail take a wrong turn and find themselves in trouble. A few week later one of the friend’s fathers takes the same trail to find out what happened to her…
My synopsis of the film is brief and not highly informative for a point, and that is that this is a movie you really need to go into cold.
