Sweet Tooth has concluded its epic story with its third and final season on Netflix. Based on a DC comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire, the post-apocalyptical fantasy drama series follows a young hybrid boy going on a dangerous journey with his gruff protector that will change his life and the world forever. Paramount Plus, which is the global streaming service of recently rebranded Paramount — formerly ViacomCBS — has forged a three-year partnership with Gaumont, the storied French studio behind Netflix’s “Lupin” and “Narcos,” to jointly produce a slate of high-end original shows for its growing subscribers around the world.

Under the partnership Gaumont will produce these series in association with Paramount’s international studio, Vis.

The shows will be part of Paramount Plus’s stated plans to green light 50 new non-u.S. scripted originals in 2022, as it expands its reach from Latin America, Australia, Canada and the Nordics –– where the service has already launched –– to the U.K., South Korea, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy where it will launch this year.

Vis will gain access to Gaumont’s vast network of top talent and creatives in key Paramount Plus markets, including Latin America and Europe, the two companies said in a joint statement.

US sales outfit Blue Fox Entertainment has boarded German actress Saralisa Volm’s feature directorial debut The Silent Forest, a mystery thriller that is premiering in Perspektive Deutsches Kino at the Berlinale.

The Silent Forest is based on Wolfram Fleischhauer’s novel The Forest Stands Silent about a trainee forester who sees parallels between a murder in the Upper Palatine Forest and the unsolved death of her father 20 years earlier. Fleischhauer adapted the screenplay.

Exclusive: Ana Ularu (Tribes of Europa) is set for a recurring role in Amazon’s The Power, the 10-part global thriller based on Naomi Alderman’s bestselling novel, from Chernobyl producer Sister and The Handmaids Tale director Reed Morano. In The Power, all teenage girls in the world suddenly develop the power to electrocute people at will. It’s hereditary, it’s inbuilt, and it can’t be taken away from them. Ularu will play Zoia, sister of Tatiana (Zrinka Cvitesic). The Power is executive produced by Alderman, Morano, Jane Featherstone, Claire Wilson and co-executive produced by Sarah Quintrell. Netflix’ latest German sci-fi Tribes of Europa comes from the same producers that brought us twisty time-travel sci-fi Dark. If you’ve already binged all six episodes, you may have lingering questions, we certainly do.

There was plenty left unexplained by that cliffhanger of an ending, which we can only hope suggests that there may be a second season on the horizon.

The series follows three siblings of the Origine tribe, all of whom end up following very different paths after they discover a mysterious cube. The youngest, Elja (played by David Ali Rashed) arguably ends up on the most important route of all, beginning a quest to find out more around the unusual object. Liv (played by Henriette Confurius) plays a Katniss Everdeen-esque young girl, who will do anything to protect her family. Lastly, the eldest of the siblings, Kiano...

Netflix’s Tribes of Europa is a new apocalyptic mystery created by the producers of Dark, W&b Television. The new series arrived on the streaming service on February 19th, with all six episodes available to watch now. Tribes of Europa follows a similar path to that of Dark, film franchise The Hunger Games and hit series Game of Thrones, where families set out with a mammoth mission of saving the world from further catastrophe.

Like many other great Netflix series, Tribes of Europa ends with an agonising cliffhanger. There’s currently no word about a second season, and the first finishes with plenty of questions around the plot. We’ve pulled together the answers to some burning questions below.

Post-apocalyptic adventure series “Tribes of Europa,” which bows Friday on Netflix, is the latest sci-fi/fantasy show out of Germany, where the genre is heating up.

Created by Philip Koch and produced by Wiedemann & Berg Television, the company behind Netflix hit “Dark,” “Tribes of Europa” follows three siblings as they struggle to survive in a new Europe emerging from cataclysm. Henriette Confurius, Emilio Sakraya (“Warrior Nun”), David Ali Rashed and Oliver Masucci (“Enfant Terrible”) star.

Set in 2074, the story unfolds in a land divided into micro-states and tribes — some peaceful, others bloodthirsty.

It was 2016’s Brexit referendum that inspired the series, Koch tells Variety. As a supporter of the European Union, Koch found the decision “very shocking.”

A couple of things have caught our eye in February’s Netflix UK line-up, first, the German dystopian sci-fi Tribes of Europa. After the success of sci-fi series Dark, the streaming service invested in a bunch of new German-language series, including the mega-successful historical Barbarians. Tribes was among them, and tells the story of a group of siblings in 2074, separated after a global disaster that leaves Europe riven by warring factions. Also sounding like a good time is South Korean comedy Space Sweepers, about a spaceship crew tasked with cleaning up intergalactic trash.

There’s also the arrival of Parks and Recreation in full – perfect for a lockdown rewatch, new stand-up, all of The Vampire Diaries, and Jason “It’s a megalodon” Statham in The Meg.

February may be the shortest month, but that doesn’t mean streaming services can ignore their duty to entertain us at all times. In that mission, Netflix is making a decent effort in February 2021. This isn’t the most jam-packed month the major streamer has trotted out just yet but there are plenty of new originals to get the job done.

Netflix has a few original series of note this month. The party begins with Kid Cosmic on Feb. 2. This animated series is a comic-tinged adventure from Craig McCracken, creator of the Powerpuff Girls. That’s followed by the Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl-starring Firefly Lane on Feb. 3 and Behind Her Eyes on Feb. 17. Perhaps the biggest sleeper this month, however, is Tribes of Europa. This post-apocalyptic adventure series premieres on Feb. 19.

There are also quite a few intriguing Netflix original movies in February 2021. Malcolm and Marie stars John David Washington...

Fff Bayern, Bavaria’s regional film fund, will see its budget for 2019 reach €40m following the federal state’s decision to increase its financial commitment by 10% to €22m this year.

Bavaria’s Digital Minister Judith Gerlach announced that - as Fff Bayern’s major shareholder - the federal state would be making an additional €1.5m available for film funding this year.
