Sigh. I thought I was going to watch a disaster flick. Instead I watched what seems like a Hallmark movie with a tornado.
I can't understand who thought it would be a good idea to focus on 25 characters in eight different storylines. And to "explore" heavy themes like racism and abortion. A different theme in each of the eight storylines. None of which are relevant to the story. What a waste. (1 viewing, 3/23/2022)

Several families in a small town face danger and possible disaster when a thunderous tornado hits the area, each person has very limited time to react to the fast moving situation.
It's actually not bad, compared to some of the films I've suffered in recent times, it really isn't that bad. Despite its general casual pacing, there are some real moments of tension, with the real life terror coming from knowing that these things happen.
You have an hour of character development, so pacing could well be a huge issue for traditional fans of disaster movies. The first hour is slow, some of the characters you'll like, some you'll loathe, it's very soap opera, after an hour, you get the action, and the film moves from 1st, to 4th gear, it becomes altogether more appealing.
It's clearly a low budget film, but visually it's not without merit, it looks pretty decent I think.
Some of the acting is decent, some of it feels a bit Hallmark channel. You will see plenty of well known faces, including Peter Facinelli, in what is perhaps not his most challenging role.
I know this is going to get hated on, bits it really not bad, 6/10.

The effects were good---but that was only a few minutes. Too much simpleton soap opera. The large cast of characters that is self-defeating TV quality script..
If you're expecting 'Twister 2.0', then please give '13 Minutes' a pass and look elsewhere.
After watching the trailer, I was expecting a movie about tornadoes!!..not an 'edge of you seat' experience, but something along the lines of 'Night of the Twisters'..
'13 Minutes' is NOT a tornado movie, it's a suspense/drama..full of PC storylines, that happens to include a tornado at the end of Act II.
So, if you're just looking for an average movie to pass the evening, then '13 Minutes' might be for you..but if you're looking for a suspense-filled twister flick, you'll be disappointed.

I'm a storm chaser so I was really eager to see that movie when I first saw the trailer. I can say that everything weather related in that movie was spot on and very realistic.
As for the plot, « cliche » is the best word that comes to my mind to describe it. Too many sub-stories to really make you care about the characters. At first when I saw the trailer, I really thought that the main focus was on weather but it's not. But overall I have to give the passage note.
