Warning! This post contains spoilers for Woman of the Hour.
This post contains mentions of murder, sexual assault, and Rodney Alcala's real-life violent crimes.
Since Amy is one of the main characters in Woman of the Hour's storyline, it is hard not to question what happened to the real person, Monique Hoyt, on whom she is based. Directed by Anna Kendrick, Woman of the Hour primarily recounts the events of the chilling Dating Game episode that featured serial killer Rodney Alcala as one of the contestants. While walking through how Alcala won a date with Cheryl Bradshaw on The Dating Game before getting rejected by her, the movie also jumps to other timelines that highlight Rodney Alcala's serial killer history.
One of these timelines focuses on Alcala's encounter with a young girl named Amy. In the movie's storyline, Alcala convinces Amy he is a professional photographer and asks her to model for him.

You never know who you might meet on a dating show — but you might just know some of the faces you’ll see on said show in “Woman of the Hour.”
Directed by Anna Kendrick — marking her directorial debut — the film, now streaming on Netflix, tells the bizarrely true story of how a serial killer went on “The Dating Game,” and won. His appearance on the show was square in the middle of his killing spree, and he wasn’t even caught because of the show.
Not only does Kendrick direct, but she also stars in the film, alongside some other familiar faces.
Here’s who you need to know in “Woman of the Hour.”
Netflix Sheryl Bradshaw (Anna Kendrick)
Cheryl Bradshaw is indeed the woman of the hour referenced in the title, a struggling actress who goes on “The Dating Game” hoping for exposure. Instead, she meets and picks a serial killer.

Chicago Pd is a vastly different show in Season 12 than it was at the beginning -- and not just because it's been 12 seasons. The NBC series looked and felt different when it premiered in 2014, with a cast that still had several fan-favorites and was more well-rounded. It also existed in a time before the increased scrutiny surrounding law enforcement and how police officers are depicted on TV, painting Hank Voight and the rest of the Intelligence Unit in a more forgiving light.
One thing that hasn't changed is how important Chicago Pd Season 1 is to the One Chicago brand. The premiere of Chicago Pd is what made One Chicago a franchise, and the success of the spinoff paved the way for there to be two more shows after it and for Dick Wolf to grow beyond the Law & Order brand. Without audiences falling in love with Voight and his team,...

Just in time for Monday’s Emmy awards, the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative and Dr. Stacy L. Smith, along with the the Adobe Foundation, have unveiled The Inclusion List for episodic programming, which recognizes the most inclusive series in broadcast, cable and streaming.
Following a similar effort for films, the list analyzes on-screen and behind-the-camera personnel from more than 500 programs to determine the 100 most inclusive broadcast and cable series from the 2021-22 broadcast season, as well as streaming series from 2021 to 2023. The project also recognizes 20 producers responsible for the most inclusive content.
“The goal of the Inclusion List is to recognize the stories and storytellers who are taking inclusion seriously and whose content reflects their values,” said Dr. Smith, founder of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. “With today’s release of the Inclusion List for broadcast/cable and streaming series, we are excited to acknowledge the creative voices championing inclusion across the spectrum of episodic content.

Excitement turns sinister as Nella suspects her co-workers, including new hire Hazel, are plotting against her in Hulu's The Other Black Girl. Nella's life is filled with menial tasks until Hazel's arrival brings a glimmer of hope, but she soon realizes she's being watched and receives hostile notes. Zakiya Dalila Harris draws on her own experiences as a minority in the publishing industry to create a fictional but relatable story in her novel, which inspired the series.
What starts off as excitement over possible workplace bonding turns into something menacing in the first trailer for Hulu's The Other Black Girl. Based on Zakiya Dalila Harris' New York Times Best Selling novel of the same name, The Other Black Girl stars Sinclair Daniel as Nella, an editorial assistant and the only Black girl at her company, a New York City publishing company named Wagner Books. Manifest is the final series in the "Lost" generation of TV shows that were inspired by Lost's themes and plot. The "Lost" generation included other shows like The Leftovers, The Event, 4400, and The 100, which all featured missing planes/ships, stranded groups of people, and mysterious elements. While Manifest marks the end of the "Lost" generation, it has the potential to inspire a new era of mystery TV shows, just like Lost did in 2004.
When the sci-fi mystery show Manifest finally concluded in 2023, the finale did not just signal the end of the television series, but also symbolized the end of a period in TV that started 19 years ago with the premiere of Lost. First released in 2018, Manifest is a drama following a plane of people that arrives at the airport, only to realize that they have all been missing for five years. The series ran for four...

GLAAD’s “Where We Are on TV” study this year found a 6% decrease in the number of LGBTQ characters across broadcast, cable and streaming — and the cancellation/ending of shows surely isn’t helping matters.
Ahead of the latest study’s measurement period, the cancellation of Batwoman, Charmed, DC’s Legend of Tomorrow, 4400, Legacies and Naomi (on just The CW alone), plus Killing Eve, Claws, Dickinson, Astrid and Lily Save the World, The Wilds, Genera+ion, Y: The Last Man, Dear White People, Gentefied and Saved by the Bell (to name but a few), had already made a dent in LGBTQ representation.

New CW Entertainment president Brad Schwartz has one job: Make The CW profitable for the first time ever — and do it by 2025, as new parent company Nexstar promised Wall Street.
On Wednesday, the day his post was announced, Schwartz told IndieWire that he “hopes to beat” the deadline.
“It’s definitely not going to be easy,” said Schwartz, whose official start date is November 7. Already, he said, there are some pieces in place, including “a lot” of revenue from ad sales and digital. “We’re not starting from absolute scratch.”
Schwartz has made a career out of turnarounds, launches, and rebrands. There’s been seven to date, the most notable being the time he rebranded the TV Guide Network as Pop TV, which brought us “Schitt’s Creek” and “One Day at a Time.” We began our telephone conversation by asking Schwartz if The CW needs a new name.

Roughly 30-40 employees of The CW were laid off on Tuesday by new owner Nexstar Media, IndieWire has learned.
The move is the first large scale overhaul at the CW after Nexstar, the largest television-station owner in the United States, took control of the channel’s operation on October 3. Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global, The CW’s previous owners, sold a majority of their unprofitable joint venture to Nexstar in June.
Among those laid off on Tuesday were Paul Hewitt, the CW communications chief since it formed from the merger of Upn with The WB in 2006. In his place, Beth Feldman has been named SVP of Network Communications, taking on the role in addition to her current duties as Nexstar’s executive director of communication, Networks division.

Nexstar laid off between 30-40 staffers at the CW network Tuesday, marking the first sweeping staffing overhaul at the “Walker” broadcaster since it changed ownership, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Among those cuts were Paul Hewitt, the longtime CW comms chief, who has been replaced by Beth Feldman. Additionally, multiple execs in distribution, strategy and affiliate relations were let go, with Google vet Rebekah Dopp taking over those departments.
Nexstar is wasting little time revamping The CW, a plan that began with the replacement of longtime CW president Mark Pedowitz being ousted upon the close of Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery’s sale of the network to Nexstar Oct. 3. Also cut in the wake of the deal were streaming and branding exec Rick Haskins and ad sales head Mitch Nedick.

The second season finale of ‘American Horror Stories’ gets pulled away by the tide and struggles to find its way back to a compelling conclusion.
“She needs to find her life again and get back to normal. We all do.”
There are some exceptional horror films that find fear within the unknown depths of the sea, whether it’s overt monster movies like Deep Rising, Underwater, or “The Raft” segment from Creepshow 2, or terrifying tales that are adjacent to the water like The Shallows. American Horror Story has more or less left underwater tales of woe alone even though a story that’s centered on the Loch Ness Monster or other aquatic Cryptids seems completely in line with the series’ agenda. “Lake,” the season finale of American Horror Stories’ second season, avoids a modern monster myth in favor of a somber meditation on grief and guilt. A wedding, an engagement and a journey to another planet — fans got all that and more in the series finale of “Roswell, New Mexico” on Monday night. And according to showrunner Chris Hollier, a lot of the night’s events were always the plan for the pod squad — except maybe Malex’s wedding.
Don’t worry, Michael Guerin (Michael Vlamis) and Alex Manes (Tyler Blackburn) were always meant for each other. Even Blackburn told TheWrap he’d have been “pissed” if the men didn’t get the ending they deserved. And indeed, Hollier told TheWrap this week that the “Roswell” writers “always knew there was a happy ending” for the pairing.
“We’d always talked about, like, the fact that we were starting Season 4 with a proposal, we expected people would have a wedding,” Hollier explained. “So how can we surprise them with what that wedding would be? And the answer was,...

Any actor’s directorial debut is daunting. But for “Roswell, New Mexico” star Michael Trevino, things were significantly easier thanks to his leading lady, Jeanine Mason, who apparently was “saving” him on the daily.
In Monday night’s episode, directed by Trevino, we meet Outlaw Liz (Mason). She’s a parallel version of the Liz Ortecho we’ve come to know and love, who acts on her darker impulses. Thanks to the chemical compound she inhaled, Liz is trapped in her mindscape, battling for dominance. That mindscape, of course, is an old western town, in which Liz is the sheriff, haunted by Outlaw Liz.
Mason took on double duty for the week and according to Trevino, needed very little direction from him.
“I literally was just behind the monitor, because I know how talented she is,” Trevino recalled to TheWrap. “And then I see her play this completely different character,...

Well, this is a pleasant surprise.
Despite Kung Fu Season 2 Episode 13 sealing the fate of Zhilan, Yvonne Chapman is sticking around.
TV Line reported Thursday morning that Chapman will return as a series regular for Kung Fu Season 3.
If you watch Kung Fu online, you know that Zhilan was killed off after sacrificing herself to take down Russell Tan.
It was a truly shocking development and one that got fans talking.
“It was never even a question for us that we’d be asking the incredible Yvonne Chapman back to the show,” co-showrunner Bob Berens said in a statement to TV Line.
“Zhilan’s dramatic sacrifice in the Season 2 finale creates an exciting new beginning for her character, and we can”t wait for viewers to see what we’ve got planned for her.”

“Tom Swift” has been canceled by The CW after one season, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes less than a month after the series, a spinoff of “Nancy Drew,” premiered on May 31. Sources close to the project tell Variety the decision came down to ratings, as the show failed to find an audience via linear TV or streaming. The five episodes of the series that have aired so far drew 0.1 ratings in the 18-49 demographic.
The news also comes a little over a month after The CW canceled a sizable amount of their originals, including “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Rosewell, New Mexico,” “4400,” “Legacies,” “Naomi” and “Batwoman.” In January, it was announced that Nexstar Media Group is in negotiations with the channel to acquire a sizable stake in it, after years of being predominantly owned by WarnerMedia.

Nexstar Media Group’s pursuit of majority control of the CW is nearing the finish line, according to people with knowledge of the pending transaction.
Word of the deal first surfaced last January, but it has taken some time to iron out details. As currently structured, the deal will see Nexstar take a 75 stake in the broadcast network, and current partners Paramount Global and Warner Bros Discovery each take 12.5. Sources indicated there is still some chance the tentative agreement could unravel, but if it stays on track it could be formalized in the next few weeks.
The Wall Street Journal had the first report of the ownership structure and the apparently imminent closing of the acquisition.

Legacies will say goodbye for good following Legacies Season 4 Episode 20.

After three and a half long months, CW's long-awaited reboot of 4400 finally concluded its first season on Valentine's Day of 2022. The newfangled iteration of the show takes a deliberately progressive and diversified look at the mysterious human beings who suddenly return to Earth years after vanishing without a trace, reflecting society far more accurately than the 2004 version of the show.

What a ride! Where do we go from here?
On 4400 Season 1 Episode 13 we got a showdown at the Bois Blanc and a glimpse into the future — at least, one possible future.
It was an action-packed finale that answered some questions but raised many more.
4400 has had some pacing issues in the past, but there was none of that here. Everything moved along briskly, and no time was wasted.
I don't know how you top a giant iguana dancing to Dua Lipa, but full props to whoever came up with that one. We can say with absolute certainty that that is the first time that has ever happened on television.
It was absurd and ridiculous but a sequence of pure fun that had Ladonna written all over it.
For all the major issues this show packs in, it can be incredibly silly sometimes, which doesn't always work, but at least keeps the surprises fresh.

Fox has struggled in recent years to find a new hit drama.
The Cleaning Lady is the latest offering from the network, and it should be getting an official renewal for Season 2 in the near future.
The Élodie Yung-led drama managed 3.4 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.
It is rare for a new show to be this stable in the ratings, but the numbers go like this: 3.7 million/0.5 rating - 3.3 million/0.5 rating - 3.2 million/0.5 rating - 3.4 million/0.5 rating.
The delayed viewing is also strong, with the show adding 60% to the demo tally with DVR factored in.
Fox would be wise to move the show out of The Resident next season.
Lead-in, 9-1-1: Lone Star drew a solid 5.8 million viewers and a 0.7 rating, on par with its season averages.
Over on ABC, The Bachelor managed 3.4 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo.
Promised Land was steady with its premiere in the demo.

Are you an iguana or a butterfly?
On 4400 Season 1 Episode 11, we had a wedding, a stabbing, and unexpected revelations about Manny and Claudette.
4400 continues to mirror current events -- not always gracefully, but with poignance and sincerity.
Manny is quite the stabby individual. Who could have guessed that when he stabbed Claudette to test her pain threshold, it was actually foreshadowing for him stabbing the Rev? It was honestly shocking.
Jharrel had me believing in Manny’s inherent goodness, but with the blinders so firmly on, he missed the warnings from Soraya and Claudette. Mind you, they were pretty vague about it all, but then how much do they really know about him? How much does anyone know about Manny?
What is he up to, and how much does he know? Is he even a 4400? Or is Zmt the substance that gives 4400 their powers? (And how closely will this...
