The following contains spoilers for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1, now streaming on Disney+.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man treated fans to a shocking revelation regarding Doctor Strange and Hudson Thames' Peter Parker. The Sorcerer Supreme fights a symbiote with the wall-crawler, only to create a time-travel arc and a closed loop. It results in a spider from Norman Osborn's lab moving from the present to the past, creating the web-head's origin story.
However, as this mind-bending arc unfolds, the Disney cartoon nods heavily to Avengers: Infinity War, but not in a good way. It centers around a massive plot hole involving temporal interference. It once more shows how problematic temporal conflicts are in comic book movies and TV shows.

Mortal Kombat 2 should prioritize the martial arts tournament theme and ensure its outcome matters to viewers. The movie should focus on a select few well-developed characters to create a stronger connection with the audience. Including well-crafted subplots and maintaining consistent pacing will enhance the overall narrative and viewing experience.
The upcoming movie sequel Mortal Kombat 2 stands to learn valuable lessons from the franchise's animated films. The success of the animated movies lies in their adept prioritization of the martial arts tournament and the nuanced exploration of character motivations, which significantly deepened their narrative experience. To emulate this triumph, Mortal Kombat 2 should follow the core theme of the tournament but ensure it receives ample focus on producing a story where the outcome genuinely matters to its viewers. Delving into character motivations with care, as demonstrated by the animated adaptations, can further enrich the storyline, forging a stronger connection...

The animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge movie did a better job with Scorpion's origin than the 2021 film, as it captured the gruesome and visceral nature of the video game source material. Scorpion's Revenge presented a more traditional and satisfying tale, which includes actually focusing on the titular tournament, unlike the 2021 reboot. The live-action Mortal Kombat movies can learn from the animated films by embracing the wild and goofier elements, and by delivering truly great fights, rather than grounding the concept too much.
There's one Mortal Kombat movie that did a way better job with Scorpion's tragic origin than the 2021 movie. Popular as the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie adaptation was, its PG-13 rating never let it get as gruesome and visceral as its video game source. Fans of the franchise had to wait until the arrival of the 2021 film reboot for a proper, R-rated take on the games, and while it received mixed reviews,...

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match was unveiled at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The latest gem in the iconic world of Mortal Kombat introduces fans to a nostalgic trip down the 1980s lane.
The buzz at the Mortal Kombat panel was palpable as attendees were treated to not one, but two distinct trailers: a green band version and a more mature, red band version. What’s more, the fandom finally got the official word that the movie will be making its grand entry on October 17, 2023.
The unmistakable focus of Cage Match is none other than the charismatic, albeit self-important movie star, Johnny Cage. Those familiar with the Mortal Kombat gaming universe will recognize him as a constant figure, recurring in most of the Mortal Kombat Legends cinematic outings. This film, however, paints a different image of the star, yanking him from the familiar and planting him firmly in the flashy world of 1980s Hollywood.

A Cole Young vs. Johnny Cage fight in Mortal Kombat 2 is what the Mortal Kombat sequel needs to settle one of the first film’s biggest criticisms. Given that Mortal Kombat (2021) skipped Johnny Cage, opting to save the character for a sequel instead, Mortal Kombat 2 is expected to heavily focus on Cage – especially given that the first film ended with a Johnny Cage tease. However, now that the Mortal Kombat story has advanced without Cage, incorporating the iconic Mortal Kombat character into the sequel will not be easy.
Some of Johnny Cage’s best moments, both in the Mortal Kombat games and Mortal Kombat movie adaptations, happen when the Earthrealm champions are in the process of being put together, such as in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, for example. That is something Mortal Kombat 2 will not be able to replicate, as Mortal Kombat...

Between the live action reboot of Mortal Kombat and my growing appreciation of the animated Batman films it was pretty much a given that I would check out another of Warner’s animated offerings, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms begins with a couple fleeing through deserted streets before being confronted by a trio of nasty looking creatures. They kill the couple but Raiden (Dave B. Mitchell; Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) arrives in time to save their baby whom the mother names Liu Kang with her dying breath.
We’re barely a minute in and already there’s a decapitation and a pair of eyes exploding from their sockets.

The Mortal Kombat cast has weighed in on who could play Johnny Cage in the potential sequel, and Kano actor Josh Lawson has nominated James Marsden. In the Mortal Kombat reboot, which was released in theaters and on HBO Max on Friday, Johnny Cage was nowhere to be seen. If a sequel ends up getting made, Johnny will more than likely arrive early into the next movie, given the way Mortal Kombat ends.
As of now, Mortal Kombat 2 doesn't yet have its greenlight, so the sequel is still not officially confirmed. Director Simon McQuoid has suggested that this will be up to the fans, but the movie's success at the box office over the weekend can only help its chances of getting a followup movie. Because of this, nobody has yet been cast in the role of the fan favorite fighter, leading to great speculation from fans as to just whom it might be.

One of Mortal Kombat 11’s initial creative blunders ended up being one of its greater strengths in the long run. As a bit of stunt casting, NetherRealm decided to replace Mortal Kombat X’s Tricia Helfer with Mma and WWE star Ronda Rousey as the voice of series mainstay Sonya Blade. Considering the excess of dialogue in the game’s story mode and countless pre-fight exchanges, Rousey’s questionable delivery turned a lot of people off on the character. It’s no wonder the studio didn’t bother giving Sonya any lines when Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath added a second story mode campaign.
Belgian DJ Dimitri Vegas also became a Sub-Zero skin and also recorded voice lines for the classic fighter for some reason. As you’d expect, Vegas’ delivery is bad but also hilarious in a “Why does this even exist?” kind of way.

If there’s one thing DC loves, it’s reboots. The comics cycle through their continuity in one form or another every decade or so, the movies…well…that’s a whole thing, too. So of course now it’s time for the DC animated movies to get a fresh start. And this time, they’re doing it with the hero who should pretty much always be the center of these things: Superman.
Since 2014, there have been 20 DC Universe Animated Original Movies, most of which existed in a shared continuity that began with Justice League: War and culminated in this year’s Justice League Dark: Apokalips War. With that story arc now complete, Superman: Man of Tomorrow will set up a new continuity for future movies. Butch Lukic is the new Supervising Producer for these DC movies, with Chris Palmer directing Man of Tomorrow.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is a bone-crunchingly brutal take on the beloved game franchise and the heart-wrenching backstory of the titular warrior, Hanzo Hasashi. The newest Warner Bros. animated offering is also stacked with homages to classic martial arts movies and ’80s action flicks that the creators, writer Jeremy Adams and executive producer Rick Morales, tell me was vital to their vision of Mortal Kombat, which Morales reveals made the R-rated animation “the movie that I’ve always wanted to make.”
Watching Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge as an action fan, it’s easy to see where the team pulled from, especially when it comes to the real life inspiration for Johnny Cage, the Muscles from Brussels himself, Jean-Claude Van Damme. There’s even an instantly recognizable triple roundhouse kick which Morales confirms was an intentional nod to the iconic European martial artist. “We pulled from Van Damme stuff for sure,...
