Swedish producer Fredrik Zander of 08 Industries and Spain’s Antonia Nava of Neo Art Producciones are teaming on “Black Site,” an English-language action thriller written and directed by Peter Lindmark. Both companies will have a presence at this year’s European Film Market, where they will be holding meetings about their new co-production.

Plot details are being kept mostly under wraps for the time being, but the producers have said the film with be set against a high-stakes, ticking-clock narrative and that “Black Site” promises to be a brutal thrill ride with twists around every corner. Currently in the financing phase, the film’s team is now casting and scouting potential shooting locations.

The film’s narrative fits in line with Lindmark’s ouvre as an accomplished writer and director. His previous credits include the 2006 Mads Mikkelsen and Alexander Skarsgård-starring thriller “Exit” and recent Viaplay crime series “Lyckoviken.”

“Grassland” is William Bermudez and Sam Friedman’s directorial debut (the duo also penned the screenplay). The series dumped Thorsen so abruptly that it still stings, and installments like The Rookie Season 7 Episode 3 spend a surprising amount of time with these new characters.

They should get under my skin more, but the truth is, they don’t! They’re so purely entertaining that it’s been easy to embrace them.

The installment wasn’t flawless; it was far from that. The hour had one of the notable balance issues that sometimes plague the series.

And a couple of storylines brewing that are already on the cusp of becoming irksome beyond words.

But when it comes down to what makes this such a fun and entertaining hour, all the credit belongs to the rookies and an unexpected visit from Rachel that gave us some bits of a Chenford plot.

As the saying goes, sisterhood is powerful. It can also be maddening, enlightening, stifling, fortifying, and fascinating. Or in the case of Katie, Christina, and Rachel — played in the drama His Three Daughters by Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne, respectively — all of the above. Those seemingly contradictory complexities were precisely what writer-director Azazel Jacobs wanted to explore when he sat down to write the film, which sees the women convene at their father’s rent-controlled lower Manhattan apartment to support him at the end of his life. It’s a story about “sisters realizing not only their differences, but what’s connected them all these years and what could connect them after their parent is gone,” explains the French Exit filmmaker.

What surprised Jacobs was how this particular sisterhood so easily poured onto the page — and how he realized he was writing exclusively for Coon, Olsen, and Lyonne...

Netflix picked up Azazel Jacob’s deeply moving drama His Three Daughters, starring Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne, and now will be launching it to kick off their awards season slate. Ahead of its September 6 theatrical release and September 20 Netflix debut, the first trailer has arrived.

ITV Studios Finland has begun production on a local adaptation of “Cold Feet,” the beloved British comedy-drama series that ran for five seasons between 1997 and 2003 before launching a hit reboot 13 years later.

Produced for MTV and set to premiere in 2026, the 8 x 42” series (“Rimakauhua ja rakkautta” in Finnish) is written by Marika Kuortti (“Roomies”) and directed by Ville Jankeri (“Forest Giant”). Exclusive: Netflix’s urban fantasy drama The Grimm Reality will not see the light of day. We’ve learned that the series from Dark producer Wiedemann & Berg and The Gryphon co-producer Dog Haus Films has been quietly shelved.

The Grimm Reality first went into development at Netflix’s German base and then into production in late 2022. We understand filming had completed, but it will not move further forwards at Netflix.

Plot details on the show were not revealed, but it was assumed to be based on the Brothers Grimm folklore tales of the 18th and 19th centuries. The series was billed a “fairy tale urban fantasy thriller,” according to What’s on Netflix, which initially broke the news of the show.

Show creators were Till Kleinert (Der Samurai) and Dog Haus’ Erol Yesilkaya, who is a producer and scriptwriter. Actors including Hyuan Wanner, Patrick Isermeyer, Eidin Jalali and Dennis Schuermann were cast.

The name Harry Hole may sound like a joke to a lot of English speakers, but Norwegian author Jo Nesbø has managed to build a bestselling series of crime novels around the character – whose last name is meant to be pronounced as “Hoo-leh.” There have been thirteen books in the Harry Hole series to date, with the seventh one having previously been brought to the screen as the 2017 film The Snowman… which, despite having Tomas Alfredson at the helm, Martin Scorsese on board as a producer, and a strong cast that included Michael Fassbender as Hole, did not turn out well. Netflix and Working Title have found their Harry Hole.

German-Norwegian actor Tobias Santelmann (The Last Kingdom) will play the lead in the Jo Nesbø adaptation, which will be officially titled Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole.

Santelmann is joined by Joel Kinnaman (Altered Carbon, The Suicide Squad) playing Tom Waaler and Pia Tjelta (Made in Oslo, State of Happiness) as Rakel Fauke. The casting has been announced in the past few minutes at the iconic restaurant Schrøder in Oslo, Norway, which also serves as Harry Hole’s ‘second home’ in the novels.

Created by the much-loved Scandi crime fiction author, Nesbø’s Harry Hole is a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by the famed anti-hero. Underneath the surface, it is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler.

Erige Sehiri, Danielle Arbid and Francisco Márquez’s latest projects are among the 10 co-productions receiving €60,000 each through the Hubert Bals Fund (Hbf) of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR).

The projects, eight supported for co-production and two for post-production, are helmed by mostly first- or second-time filmmakers from Singapore, Turkey, Lebanon, Chile, Tunisia, Mexico and Argentina. Speaking exclusively to Deadline ahead of So Long‘s worldwide premiere at Series Mania this week, Oppenheimer and Hereditary actor Wolff paid tribute to the late singer-songwriter. “His contribution to my life has been so substantial that whatever words I have don’t sum up what he’s meant to my working life and to me personally,” he said.

Netflix has unveiled its roster of Nordic titles, including Jo Nesbø’s Norwegian series “Harry Hole” (working title), a series adaptation of Amanda Romare’s novel “Diary of a Ditched Girl” starring Carla Sehn (“Love & Anarchy”), the female-led “The New Force,” and a film adaptation of Alex Ahndoril’s “The Key Series.”

“Harry Hole” is entirely penned by Nesbø, a bestselling crime novelist best known for “Occupied” and “The Snowman.” Based on Nesbø’s novel “The Devil’s Star,” the series is set in Oslo during the summer and follows police detective Harry Hole who’s just been abandoned by his girlfriend.
