The film that Sushant Singh Rajput will be most remembered by, Sonechiriya, which turned six on March 1, is the most anguished plea against injustice and oppression since Bimal Roy’s Sujata. The deep silences in Abhishek Chaubey’s clenched narrative reminded me of Roy’s film about a Harijan girl (Nutan) looking for an identity.
We don’t have Harijans anymore as targets of exploitation. Director Abhishek Chaubey uses eerie silences in the stunning Chambal landscape to punctuate a sense of excruciating oppression. Besides Sushant and Ranvir Shorey, I came away with two heroes in Sonechiriya. The little brutalized girl from whom the film gets its title, whose devastated eyes still secrete a smile after all she has gone through. Raw, gritty, and compelling, Sonechiriya conveys a clandestine narrative style that never impinges on the violent disarray of the characters’ brutal, unpredictable lives. It is as Indian in spirit as cinema can get,...

Doesn't it always feel like every successful animated series has a beach episode? Tons of people enjoy lying out in the sun and enjoying the waves, and the Heelers are no different. Why not enjoy the surf with this episode in the background?

In the 1970s, there was arguably no bigger star than Burt Reynolds. Though his talent was undeniable, he'd become more notable for his presence in films where he could be a fictionalized version of himself as the smiling, charming protagonist, à la Smokey and the Bandit. 1972's Fuzz, released two months before Deliverance— one of his best performances, falls into the latter, an action-comedy featuring Reynolds as a detective trying to catch a bomber who’s targeting local politicians. It is one of his better efforts, with Roger Ebertcalling it an “offbeat, funny, quietly cheerful movie.” Cheerful for the most part, that is. Two eerily similar, disturbing scenes in Fuzz were later replicated in real life, sparking an outcry over violence in film.

It is rather difficult to describe “Song of the Bandits”, a wild, exciting mix of historical drama, spectacular actioner, rugged western and comedy. Led by the charismatic Kim Nam-gil, the show is an explosive action/adventure romp through the badlands of the Manchurian wilderness, set against the backdrop of the Japanese colonization of Korea.

The series mostly takes place in 1920 after the fall of the Joseon Empire and during Japanese occupation. The story centers around Lee Yun (Kim), a Korean native who used to serve in the Japanese military forces and carried out atrocities against defenseless civilians. Wracked by guilt, Lee is seen in the first episode deciding to go to Gando, officially part of China but in reality a lawless place inhabited by many Koreans and scoured by criminals, resistance fighters and Japanese paramilitary forces. In 1981, Burt Reynolds seemed unstoppable as a leading box-office superstar in America. The laid-back sex symbol of the ‘70s had a string of hit action comedies, often involving fast cars, with movies such as Smokey and the Bandit, Hooper, and The Cannonball Run. Though he carried that winning charm in lighter comedies like Starting Over and Semi-Tough, Reynolds surprised his fans when he broke away from his freewheeling Bandit persona to play a hardened Atlanta vice cop in Sharky’s Machine.

Back to the Future Part II takes the franchise ahead to 2015, and although the movie didn't predict the future with complete accuracy, there was a specific piece of foreshadowing that came eerily close. The first Back to the Future sequel actually got several things right about 2015, despite being released in 1989. However, there is one piece of the movie's lore that resonated particularly well with viewers, and the prediction was pretty much fulfilled in the real world in 2002.
The Back to the Future movies are widely considered to form one of the best and most consistent trilogies of all time. Led throughout by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown, the Back to the Future cast takes the audience through a thrilling time travel adventure that features almost as much nail-biting jeopardy as it boasts comedic moments. Despite an emphasis on making the audience laugh,...

Collider can offer an exclusive trailer that shows Eli's slow descent as dear old dad, played by Dermot Mulroney, taunts him about his urges.

Mel Gibson’s career has been a rollercoaster ride of successes and failures punctuated by some unpopular opinions and controversial moments. However, back in 1996 Gibson was still banging out some of his best work. This includes the action thriller Ransom, which has scored a huge resurgence on Tubi since arriving on the free streaming platform recently.
The film stars Gibson as Tom Mullen, a wealthy airline owner whose life is upended when his son, Sean, is kidnapped. Director Ron Howard delivers a blistering fast-paced race against time, which comes with several twist endings and strong performances from Gibson, Rene Russo, and Gary Sinise. Almost thirty years on, the film’s arrival on Tubi has underscored the constant demand for action movies, both old and new, on streaming platforms, and how very few pass by without a stop on a Top 10 chart somewhere.

'Tis the season for Christmas movies. While there are so many favorites to choose from, topping the list for many is Home Alone. Written by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, the biggest hit of 1990 is the perfect choice for laughs and pure nostalgia. No matter how many times we've seen it, it'll never get old watching young Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) pummel the Wet Bandit thieves of Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern). What makes it even funnier is how some of the things Kevin does to these criminals would kill a person in real life, yet here, they're mostly fine. It's more live-action Looney Tunes than anything else.

The story of Avatar: The Last Airbender features a fun cast of characters, most of whom got ample screen time to flesh out who they are and get a complete story arc. That's what happened for Avatar Aang, for example, along with Sokka and Katara. And Prince Zuko got more than enough screen time to get one of animation's best redemption arcs of all time. Meanwhile, a handful of other Avatar characters got shortchanged in this regard.
On the plus side, the Avatar anime has tight and efficient pacing to tell a complete story in three seasons, which makes it easy to binge and enjoy. However, that means certain settings and characters didn't appear often enough, robbing them of a chance for deeper development. That often happened to side characters who could have rounded out the worldbuilding a little more with their unique perspectives, including villains. In a few cases,...

Christopher Lloyd and Back to the Future's iconic DeLorean car have reunited in a new video. Lloyd first played Dr. Emmett Brown, usually referred to as Doc Brown, in Back to the Future. He later reprised the role in Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III. While Doc Brown had many inventions, his most famous was the DeLorean car which served as a time machine used by him and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) as they traveled into the past and the future.
DeLorean Labs has now released a Back to the Future-style video of Lloyd playing himself as he opens a DeLorean Time Capsule. Directed by filmmaker Allan Ungar, who previously directed the feature film Bandit, the nostalgic video introduces the Time Capsule collection, as Lloyd has the item handed to him by a mysterious individual emerging from a DeLorean. Mel Gibson's new movie, Monster Summer, continues the actor's unfortunate Rotten Tomatoes streak. Mel Gibson may just be gleefully screwing with us, but in MovieWeb's interview for his delightful new film Monster Summer, he addressed his recent trip to Malta for location-scouting, which was widely reported to be for his upcoming sequel to The Passion of the Christ. If he is psyching us out, it's a rather detailed and delightful diversion. When asked about his trip to Malta (where he met Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela) and what direction his sequel to the religious drama was taking, Gibson responded by saying:
"Sure, well, there's that, but there's also I'm also working on a TV limited series about the Siege of Malta, which is an incredible story, and there's only one place to film that, I mean, in Malta. Because that's where it happened, at these fortresses where 700 knights defended Malta against an onslaught from the Turkish and Suleiman sent 40,000 men and ships and,...

It's been two years since Josh Duhamel found one of his best roles yet in Bandit, and in honor of the movie's anniversary, Screen Rant has exclusive deleted scenes. Duhamel starred in the 2022 crime thriller as Gilbert Galvan Jr, a real-life robber known as The Flying Bandit who holds the record for the most consecutive robberies in Canadian history. Also starring Mel Gibson, Elisha Cuthbert and Nstor Carbonell, Bandit was a hit upon release, garnering largely positive reviews for Duhamel's performance and Allan Ungar's stylish direction.
As the movie has hit its two-year anniversary, Screen Rant is proud to exclusively debut 20 minutes of deleted scenes from Bandit. Marlon Brando was, unarguably, one of the most celebrated actors of all time, but he was also notorious for being a not-so-easy personality to work with, especially during the latter stages of his career. While his seemingly irrational demands and ways of operating (which involved strapping cue cards to sets) were one thing, he was also infamous for clashing with some other actors.
Michael Corleone in The Godfather. | Credits: Paramount Pictures.
For one, Brando had a famous feud with one other thoroughly commended actor who left the world a little time after him: Burt Reynolds. As it turns out, Brando was involved in what was a rather one-sided rivalry with Reynolds during the height of the latter’s career, which even had him nearly quitting his all-time best The Godfather in rage had it brought Reynolds into the cast!

Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender added a new actor to its cast, but who is Toph Beifong? Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 will continue to adapt the story of the original animated show, and it's bringing in new characters to do so. Though Netflix's Last Airbender had several differences from the original, it has stayed mostly true to its characters and their personalities. It seems the live-action adaptation will continue to faithfully recreate the animated show's story, as it recently cast an actor to play Toph Beifong.

That octopus book is heading to the screen.
Netflix has picked up a film package that adapts Remarkably Bright Creatures, the wildly popular novel by Shelby Van Pelt.
Sally Field, the veteran actress last seen in 80 for Brady, is in talks to star in the feature that is to be directed by Olivia Newman, perhaps best known for helming Where the Crawdads Sing. Newman is also writing the script with John Whittington.
Producing the adaptation will be David Levine via Anonymous Content along with Bryan Unkeless (I, Tonya) and Peter Craig, the established screenwriter of The Town and The Batman. Craig is also Field’s son.
The novel tells of the unique relationship between a lonely woman working as a janitor at an aquarium and a giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus living at the facility.

Mel Gibson has been no stranger to controversy, but his crime drama, Bandit, is proving that his star power is far from fading. With a respectable 71% score on Rotten Tomatoes, Bandit has soared into the #8 spot on Paramount+s Top 10 list, demonstrating that audiences still have an appetite for gritty, character-driven narrativesand that Gibson can still draw a crowd. Bandit is based on the true story of Gilbert Galvan Jr., one of Canadas most notorious bank robbers, who became infamous in the 1980s for pulling off over 50 heists while on the run from U.S. authorities. Gibson stars as Tommy Kay, a hardened career criminal who becomes Galvans mentor and partner-in-crime. The film also stars Josh Duhamel as Galvan, whose charm and cunning earned him the nickname "The Flying Bandit" due to his frequent use of small planes to evade capture.

Nearly ten years after director George Miller returned to the post-apocalyptic wasteland and redefined the action genre with Mad Max: Fury Road, the Australian auteur returned to replace Charlize Theron with Anya Taylor Joy to tell the origin story of the warrior who helped Mad Max cross that fury road in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. And regardless of how underwhelming its box office may be, this high octane prequel will surely stand the test of time alongside the rest of the Mad Max saga, certainly more so than another follow-up from Warner Bros. to a car racing franchise way back in 1984, when the late great Burt Reynolds bid farewell to the formula comedy genre that made him a superstar alongside an all-star cast (Jackie Chan! On paper, it looks like the perfect comedy storm: a cult-classic post-Monty Python adventure from Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin, adapted and updated by the dudes behind What We Do In The Shadows and The Inbetweeners. But, for all its pedigree and Apple-funded VFX budget, this 21st-century Time Bandits doesn’t deliver the swag.
The main culprits are the titular gang. Portrayed in the original by dwarf performers including David Rappaport, Kenny Baker and Jack Purvis, the Bandits were an engagingly energetic crew, whose fractious antics powered much of the action-comedy (when the big-star cameos weren’t happening) — as loveable as they were amoral. Here, the noticeably ganglier likes of Lisa Kudrow, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva and Charlyne Yi fail to measure up.
The extended running time doesn’t do the concept any favours
This is mostly down to the new troupe’s oddly low-energy shtick,...

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree Dlc reveals cut dialogue hinting at Miquella's flawed plan involving Radahn. Radahn's cut dialogue shows he was meant to be Miquella's consort, but his warrior nature contradicts Miquella's desire for a kinder world. Miquella's obsession with Radahn may have led to his downfall, as a kinder consort and different approach could have achieved his goal.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the biggest expansions that have ever been made, eclipsing the size of some full RPGs. Although there are likely hundreds, if not thousands of pieces of dialogue added in the Dlc, with something this size, some pieces are bound to be cut. Cut content often reveals more information than what is in the base game and could show what the developer was thinking as the game was in production. Sometimes, things get cut for being a little too overt at times.

Of all the classes that Elden Ring has to offer, the Bandit is the class that players can use to create the best builds that revolve around dexterity, vigor, and endurance. The Bandit class excels in nimble combat, often relying upon the ability to dodge frequently and technical offense over brute strength. Additionally, since dodging plays a huge role in this class, new players may find it more challenging to play as a Bandit than they would a straightforward character build in Elden Ring like a Hero.
Aside from the Wretch, the Bandit is the lowest level character that players can start with, beginning at just level five, but that doesn't mean it's the weakest or worst by far. In fact, this class starts with the highest arcane skill of any Elden Ring class, making it much easier for players to find better loot from all sources. Of course, its...

Bluey is a popular animated series about the Heeler family, known for humor and relatable family dynamics. Bluey and Bingo are actually grannies pretending to be kids. Bandit and Chilli are criminal smugglers.
Discussion of the show's implied miscarriage plotline below.
Despite being a show aimed at preschool-age viewers, Bluey has amassed some wild fan theories, and some of them are starting to feel more believable as the show continues. With episodes that go heavy on the subtext, the series about the precocious Bluey Heeler is rife for speculation. In fact, some plot lines that had merely been hinted at, like Chilli's past difficulties with fertility, have later been confirmed in Bluey's newer episodes.

Of course, that doesn't mean Bluey will canonize every wild fan theory out there, especially given the very adult themes behind certain conspiracies. Nonetheless, most of these head-canons...

Here we go again. In recent years, Mel Gibson’s found himself stuck in a never-ending series of Dtv-style action thrillers, similar to the kind of fare Bruce Willis churned out before his retirement. Along with his contemporaries like John Travolta, John Cusack and many others, Gibson seems totally stuck in a rut, with virtually all of these films (most of which he only has minor roles in) going totally unnoticed. Has anyone seen Panama, Agent Game, On the Line, Confidential Informant, Desperation Road, Dangerous or Force of Nature? There have been some bright spots, such as the solid Bandit (a movie he was proud of when I interviewed him) or Fatman, but for the most part, Gibson’s career as an actor in mainstream movies seems limited to this kind of fare, which is a shame.
Nevertheless, he’s still out there cranking out VOD movies, with Boneyard being the latest.

Bandit is a relatable antihero driven by money and fun, not forgiveness. Sheriff Buford T. Justice's stupidity and idiocy make him lovably funny. Smokey and the Bandit combines impressive stunts with hilarious, memorable lines.
As one of the biggest comedy movies of the 1970s, there are endless Smokey and the Bandit quotes that solidify its legacy. Starring Burt Reynolds and comedy legend Jackie Gleason, the 1977 comedy was a light-hearted and hilarious ride about a fast-driving outlaw driving a trailer full of beer across state lines with a determined sheriff on his tail. The best of the collaborations between Burt Reynolds and director Hal Needham, Smokey and the Bandit is full of great car stunts and catchy songs as well as some of the most memorable lines ever to be heard on film.
Though most people might remember the over-the-top and thrilling action scenes the most, these quotes bring back memories of the movie's great comedy.

U.S. writer-director Terry Gilliam had the crowd in stitches throughout his masterclass at the Lumière Film Festival, where he presented the restored version of his 1995 cult movie “12 Monkeys.”
The former Monty Python member, whose career as a director started with the 1975 satirical comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” said that while he was keen to approach difficult subjects, he had learnt from Mary Poppins the secret of success.
“She taught me that the sugar helps the medicine go down,” he quipped, to the audience’s delight.
On a more serious note, Gilliam said that his main goal as a filmmaker was “to make films that make you think about the world in a different way.”
Rejecting the way reality is presented by the media, which he described as “too limited,” Gilliam said it could be “more fascinating, bizarre and surprising.”
