The Blacklist kept its audience glued for almost a decade with its storytelling and the way it handled the mysterious elements of Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington. The series starred James Spader as the criminal mastermind giving himself up to the FBI. At its core, The Blacklist held the mystery of who Raymond Reddington actually is.
The show began with a promising premise where an ex-Naval Intelligence officer becomes the top criminal, walks in voluntarily through FBI headquarters as a partner for the agency to catch the most dangerous criminals worldwide. The only condition he makes is that he would only work with junior profiler Elizabeth Keen, aka Liz, played by Megan Boone.

The Blacklist premiered in 2013 with one of the most intriguing premises for a crime-drama series. It stars James Spader as Raymond “Red” Reddington, an enigmatic criminal turned informant with a special interest in Elizabeth “Liz” Keen, a young FBI profiler. The mysterious relationship between Red and Liz became a cornerstone of the series.

As the narrative progressed, the mystery was teased with several hints until the fifth season finale delivered a shocking twist that changed everything. Following the season 5 finale, creator Jon Bokenkamp discussed the twist regarding Red’s real identity and how it shook up the show’s status quo. However, Bokenkamp’s comments are even more frustrating in hindsight, given how the storyline eventually concluded.

Although it is now one of Netflix's most popular crime thrillers, The Blacklist's roots trace back to NBC. Created by Jon Bokenkamp, the series, which centers on an unlikely partnership between one of the most sought-after criminals and the FBI, made its debut in September 2013. In a nod to the series' resounding success, The Blacklist was acquired by Netflix at a whopping $2 million per episode in 2014. It was the highest that had been paid for an acquisition at the time.
In a feat that only a handful of shows have been able to achieve, The Blacklist was able to successfully keep viewers engrossed throughout its decade-long run. Much of the show's pull is attributed to one character without whom The Blacklist storyline would not be a reality: Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader). Creating The Blacklist's central plot, the 'blacklist' itself comes directly from Red. However, despite Red's vitality in the story,...

The perfect replacement show for audiences who love White Collar took the premise behind Neal Caffrey's (Matt Bomer) story and shifted it to be much darker. Though updates on the White Collar revival have not been forthcoming, both the upcoming and the original series continue to be discussed and theorized about by old and new fans of the comedic procedural due to its success on Netflix. Alongside that, many audiences have tried to find shows that share aspects with White Collar, whether it be by the structure, tone, or characterizations.
Many of the shows that are similar to White Collar copy the series' complex relationship between Neal and Peter Burke (Tim DeKay), such as Suits or Psych, although the details of those dynamics vary. Others mirror White Collar's strong action and heists that so often elevated the stacks of the overarching storyline, like Lupin. However, audiences looking for a closer...

During an interview, Spader had revealed his plans for a post-The Blacklist career. While Spader stated his intentions and made them clear almost a decade ago, seeing the actor stick to them is still surprising. Therefore, it is also understandable why Spader has only made one film appearance in the past nine years, and here is everything you need to know about it.

The Blacklist had a lot of fun teasing the answer to the series' one lingering question, but did it ever reveal who is Raymond Reddington? Premiering in 2013, The Blacklist was an NBC thriller that opened with notorious wanted criminal Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) handing himself over to the FBI. Red offered to help them track down other wanted criminals that he had compiled on his own "blacklist." Reddington's rather odd condition was that he would only work with rookie Liz Keen (Megan Boone), with his connection to her remaining mysterious.
The Blacklist ran for 10 seasons and ended on its own terms. When Liz died in season 8, it seemed that the biggest puzzle in the series might remain unanswered. The primary question for much of The Blacklist has been who exactly is Raymond Reddington, with the biggest clues suggesting that he was Liz's father.

Jonathan Majors’ career was on a meteoric rise. He co-starred in Creed III, he was cast as the lead villain (Kang the Conqueror) in the latest phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his performance in the short-lived HBO series Lovecraft Country, and there was talk that the film Magazine Dreams, which he starred in, could be an Oscar contender. Then Majors was arrested for physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend and found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. He was sentenced to a 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program, fired by Marvel, and distributor Searchlight Pictures removed Magazine Dreams from their release schedule and returned the rights to the filmmakers. But we haven’t heard the last of Jonathan Majors. He’s working on re-building his career, and Deadline reports that, as the first step in this endeavor, he has signed...

Jonathan Majors has landed his first film role since he was convicted in 2023 of domestic assault and fired from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will star in the independent revenge thriller “Merciless,” to be directed by Martin Villeneuve.
Martin Villeneuve, the younger brother of “Dune” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, confirmed the news of Majors’ casting to Variety. Written by Frank Hannah, the film follows a CIA investigator who goes to troubling lengths after the woman he loves is overpowered by sinister forces. It’s expected to be filmed in Saskatchewan in late fall.
Majors was sentenced in April to one year of domestic violence counseling after he was found guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend. Per the Manhattan judge who presided over the two-week trial, Majors must complete a 52-week in-person program in Los Angeles. So, it’s unclear how it will overlap with the shooting schedule for “Merciless.

The film will mark Majors’ first role since his third degree assault and harassment conviction earlier this year. The movie will shoot in Saskatchewan in late fall.
“Merciless intertwines themes of possession, revenge and personal justice within a haunting narrative. It explores the psychological descent of John, played by Majors, and the supernatural forces challenging his sanity,” Villeneuve says.

A little over a year ago, Showtime announced that they were ordering a series – then known as Dexter: Origins, now known as Dexter: Original Sin – that would serve as a prequel series to their popular show Dexter, which finished its eight season initial run back in 2013, then recently came back for a new season (called Dexter: New Blood) that appeared to wrap things up for good… for the title character, anyway. Now they’re assembling the cast for Dexter: Original Sin, and The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Christina Milian (Falling Inn Love), James Martinez (Love Victor), Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist), and Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly) have all been cast as characters with names that will be familiar to Dexter fans.
Milian, Martinez, and Shimizu are all playing younger versions of characters that viewers have met before. As The Hollywood Reporter explains, “Milian will portray Maria Laguerta, the role previously portrayed by Lauren Velez.

Having grown up in a religious family, Christian movie night was something that happened a lot more often than I care to admit. However, back when I was a teenager, my parents showed up one night with an unusually cool-looking DVD of a movie that had been recommended to them by a church leader. Curious to see what new kind of evangelical propaganda my parents had rented this time, I proceeded to watch the film with them expecting a heavy-handed snoozefest.
To my surprise, I was a few minutes in when Denzel Washington proceeded to dismember a band of cannibal raiders when I realized that this was in fact a real movie. My mom was horrified by the flick’s extreme violence and dark subject matter, but I instantly became a fan of the Hughes Brothers’ faith-based 2010 thriller, The Book of Eli. As Raymond "Red" Reddington, Spader is an ex-intelligence agent who has got himself on the FBI's Most Wanted list. In order to avoid prosecution and, for reasons only known to him, Reddington helps the agency find the real villains they should be after, those the US doesn't even know about on Red's "blacklist".

James Spader has been in the film industry for quite some time now. And while he has made a name for himself for mostly portraying eccentric characters, it is his role in The Blacklist that fans best know him for. An incredibly talented actor, his run with the American crime thriller ended last year with the show’s tenth and final season.

Now over $30 million rich, the actor once revealed why he chose to star in The Blacklist. While some might say the series was interesting enough for any actor to take on the role, Spader’s decision might have been influenced by his financial spending.

Actor Sanjay Nath, who is a part of ‘Raisinghani vs Raisinghani’ shared that initially, when he was offered the role, he was unsure about it as he has not done a show with this format for the past 10 years.
He revealed that despite the project’s unconventional nature, he saw its great potential and decided to take on the challenge.
Sanjay steps into the shoes of Rajdeep Raisinghani, a self-made man and one of the top criminal lawyers. Rajdeep is known for his fierce demeanor and relentless pursuit of victory as a lawyer. Ruthless and shrewd in his approach, Rajdeep is sharp and strong-willed.

It’s a weird month on Netflix in February; one that will probably require you to be open-minded about the shows and movies you’re willing to consume on the service.
There are quite a few library TV series arriving this month, for example. If you’re ready to start binge-watching Monk, My Wife and Kids, or acclaimed show Warrior, you’re in luck, as those complete seasons will be available. The Blacklist season 10, Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, Brooklyn Nine-Nine seasons 1-4, and Young Sheldon season 6 will also be hitting the ‘Flix.
In terms of what’s new, there’s a ton of foreign language content and true crime stuff, but original English language stuff will largely be unscripted fare like Love is Blind, which is back for a new season. There are a few bits and bobs on the way outside of that, though. Netflix’s animated movie Orion and the Dark will debut,...

Mozhan Marnò left The Blacklist after season 6, and her departure from the show was her own choice. Samar Navabi's storyline provided a fitting exit for the character, as her declining health made her a target and she had to flee with Red's help. Despite not returning for the final season, Mozhan Marnò has continued to have a successful career in television and film, with notable appearances in Pam & Tommy and other projects.
Audiences were shocked when Mozhan Marnò left The Blacklist and her role as Agent Samar Navabi after season 6. Mozhan Marnò played a crucial member of the task force since The Blacklist season 2, but her fate had been uncertain since the beginning of season 6 when Samar Navabi never fully recovered from the car accident that left her submerged in water for several minutes. The Blacklist creator Jon Bokenkamp hinted in a TVLine interview that it would “change the landscape...

Once upon a time, The Blacklist was one of the hottest shows on television. Since its premiere, it was a winner thanks to an ingenious premise, characters, and a format that worked.
For ten seasons, the show soldiered on with viewers tuning in each week, and once streaming became a thing, the show was added to several streamers worldwide.
But looking at the numbers from the first season to the final season, there was such a massive drop in viewership, whether in live ratings or streaming, that it begs the question of why viewers jumped ship.
For context, the first season averaged 10 million live viewers, and the final season went slightly above 1 million. That’s a ninety percent decrease.
The question morphed into why the show lost steam, and in this article, we dive into distinct creative decisions that watered it down to unwatchable levels.
