The Farmer Takes a Wife

Edit
Henry Fonda's debut film.
Henry Fonda and Charles Bickford appear together in this, Fonda's first film. They would not appear together again until Big Deal at Dodge City (1966) which turned out to be Bickford's last film.
Spencer Tracy was initially cast as the villain but objected to the part and was replaced by Charles Bickford.
Junius Brutus Booth was the father of infamous John Wilkes Booth and Edwin Booth.
One town in particular not mentioned in either the play or the film is Fonda, New York. Fonda is a little village located on the Mohawk River (which is the easternmost segment of the Erie Canal) between Albany/Schenectady and Utica. It was settled in the mid-18th Century by Henry Fonda's ancestors.
