Burt Lancaster was an Oscar-winning actor who appeared in dozens of movies until his death in 1994. But which titles are among his finest? Let’s take a look back at 20 of Lancaster’s greatest films, ranked worst to best.

South Korea’s Showbox has boarded a Korean remake of Chinese romantic drama Us And Them and upcoming crime drama The Verdict.

Buyers will be introduced to both upcoming projects at the Asian Contents & Film Market, which is taking place in Busan from October 5-8.

The Korean remake, which also has the working title of Us And Them, is an adaptation of the 2018 romantic drama directed by Taiwan’s Rene Liu, which proved a box office hit in China and was saw worldwide rights acquired by Netflix.

Relocated to Seoul, the story centres on a couple who fall in love and eventually part ways.

Mohammad Rasoulof, president of the New Currents jury at this year’s Busan International Film Festival, said that Germany’s selection of his latest work, The Seed Of The Sacred Fig, as this year’s Oscars submission should offer hope to other filmmakers working under strict censorship conditions.

Rasoulof is currently living in exile in Germany after fleeing Iran on the eve of this year’s Cannes film festival – where The Seed Of The Sacred Fig screened in competition and won a Special Award – after Iranian authorities sentenced him to eights years imprisonment for making the film without a permit.

Released in 2024, the film draws inspiration from Ernest Hemingway’s short story “The Killers” as well as Edward Hopper’s iconic painting “Nighthawks,” both of which depict ominous encounters between hitmen and their targets. Through four distinct short films, Kim Jong-kwan, Roh Deok, Jang Hang-jun, and Lee Myung-se put their own singular spin on this pulpy premise.

The Killers, the iconic rock band established in Las Vegas in 2001, have embarked on the North American leg of their latest concert tour, Rebel Diamonds World Tour.

The band’s seventh major tour was structured in two segments: an initial leg in Europe with 17 shows, followed by a North American leg with 10. The European tour kicked off in Dublin, Ireland, at the 3Arena on June 12, 2024, and concluded on July 13 in Madrid. The Killers returned to the United States for the second phase of the tour, which started on August 3 at Lollapalooza.

This North American leg of the tour included a highly anticipated residency in Las Vegas and the band also headlined several prominent music festivals this summer, such as the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Boston Calling, and New York’s Governors Ball. Film Noir is a classic film genre that has provided a blueprint for many modern-day crime thrillers and mystery movies. Everything from Se7en to Prisoners and Drive owes much of their aesthetic and cinematic language to Hollywood's highly stylized genre that typically paints its pictures in stunning black-and-white photography and composes a grim picture of a corrupt society while exploring moral conflicts through characters caught up in a current of social upheaval.

Born out of a blend of American crime dramas, French poetic realism, and German Expressionist cinema, film noir began in 1940. Korean genre cinema has become a stable internationally as we witness a plethora of horror, science-fiction and thriller projects being released every year. Considering this wide array of works, Korean directors have offered their takes on popular tropes, themes and characters with the idea of the killer being one of many. Following previous years, Lollapalooza will livestream some of the 2024 lineup over the weekend on Hulu.

Lollapalooza 2024 goes down in Chicago from Thursday, August 1st to Sunday, August 4th. If you can’t be theater in person, a a number of the festival’s performances are streaming on Hulu.

The Killers paused their Wednesday evening concert at The O2 Arena in London to show a very important event: England beating the Netherlands and qualifying for the Euro 2024 final.

Now in its 23rd edition, the New York Asian Film Festival has been delivering high-octane thrills, riveting drama, hilarious comedies, and beyond from across Asia and the world for over two decades. Yo Gabba Gabba! will gab again: On August 9th, Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, a spin-off of the popular music-centric kids TV show that ran from 2007 to 2015, will premiere on Apple TV+.

The 10-episode series was announced back in April, but the show’s extensive list of guest stars have been revealed today. Apple TV+ confirms that Anderson .Paak, The Linda Lindas, Portugal. The Man, Kurt Vile, Betty Who, The Drums, The Interrupters, Thundercat, Vulfpeck collaborators Antuwan Stanley and Corey Wong, and more will appear as musical guests.

Meanwhile, Flea, Diplo, Big Daddy Kane, Paul Williams, Reggie Watts, and actor/comedians Lauren Lapkus, Sam Richardson, Chelsea Peretti, Gillian Jacobs, and Utkarsh Ambudkar will make appearances on the show. The show is created by original Yo Gabba Gabba! helmers Christian Jacob and Scott Schultz, who are also known for their work with the ska-rock band The Aquabats.

Saltburn’s infamous bathtub scene has been immortalized with a limited edition vinyl filled with “bath water” slated for release on September 29th via Bad World.

The vinyl release is a direct nod to a viral scene in the film, which centers around an Oxford University student named Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan), who develops a friendship with the wealthy Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi).

Over time, that relationship turns into obsession when Oliver is invited for a summer stay at the eponymous estate owned by Felix’s family. In the scene, Oliver slurps up the remaining drops of semen-filled bathwater after watching Felix pleasure himself in the bathtub.

Soi Cheang’s Twilight Of The Warriors: Walled In will close out the 23rd edition of the New York Asian Film Festival while Hong Kong actor Tai Bo is set to receive the Star Asia lifetime achievement award.

Tai is best known for 2019Twilight’s Kiss which earned him a Hong Kong film award and a Golden Horse nomination. He won a Golden Horse supporting actor award for 2000’s The Cabbie while his work in 1984’s Gung Buk was also critically well received. A revival of the beloved Nickelodeon kids’ show titled Yo Gabba GabbaLand! will premiere Friday, Aug. 9 on Apple TV+, the streamer announced on Wednesday. The new series brings back original characters Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Toodee and Plex and also introduces a new host: Kammy Kam, played by 12-year-old Kamryn Smith. The Killers will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Hot Fuss, by performing it in full during an eight-night residency in their hometown of Las Vegas.

The string of concerts will take place between August 14th and 30th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The shows will mark the first time The Killers have played Hot Fuss front to back live in concert.

Summer festival season is coming in hot. Governors Ball Music Festival has announced the lineup of headliners for 2024, with Post Malone, The Killers, and Sza leading the charge. The annual music festival returns to New York’s Flushing Meadows Corona Park for the second year in a row from June 7 through 9.

Post Malone will headline the first night of the festival on Friday, June 7. The day will see additional performances from Rauw Alejandro, Dominic Fike, Labrinth, Farruko, Alex G, Goth Babe, Yung Gravy, Tezzo Touchdown, Qveen Herby, Flo, and Ryan Beatty.
