"What could possibly go wrong for a ragtag group of mercenaries selling their skills to the highest bidder while doing their best to not get caught by the law which wrongfully put them in a prison they broke out of?" In almost 100 episodes aired over five years from 1983 to 1987, NBC's The A-Team attempted to answer that very question. Episodically covering cartoonishly violent adventures, the show follows four abrasive men who fought in the Vietnam War together, can make a weapon out of anything, and can rain down a storm of bullets without killing anyone.
Apart from getting rebooted as a movie in 2010, The A-Team's greatest surviving legacy is undoubtedly its iconic theme song. If it had come out today, sound bytes would be in every YouTube short, Instagram reel, and TikTok. Of course, the show also deserves credit for making T-Pain a household name in the 1980s before...

The A-Team movie adaptation was a financial disappointment, with low box office numbers and negative critical reviews, ultimately leading to the cancellation of The A-Team 2. The cast and director quickly ruled out the possibility of a sequel due to the first movie's underperformance and lack of revenue. Although a TV reboot of The A-Team was announced in 2015, it never came to pass, and there have been no developments on it since the original announcement.
The A-Team received a big-screen movie release in 2010, and sequel The A-Team 2 was supposed to follow but ended up being canceled, leaving the potentially explosive franchise remains dormant. The A-Team is based on a classic TV series from the 1980s about an elite Special Forces unit framed for a crime they didn't commit who went on the run. Each episode finds them helping people in need against various criminals and villains. The A-Team came to an end after five seasons and,...

Maureen O'Hara: Queen of Technicolor. Maureen O'Hara movies: TCM tribute Veteran actress and Honorary Oscar recipient Maureen O'Hara, who died at age 95 on Oct. 24, '15, in Boise, Idaho, will be remembered by Turner Classic Movies with a 24-hour film tribute on Friday, Nov. 20. At one point known as “The Queen of Technicolor” – alongside “Eastern” star Maria Montez – the red-headed O'Hara (born Maureen FitzSimons on Aug. 17, 1920, in Ranelagh, County Dublin) was featured in more than 50 movies from 1938 to 1971 – in addition to one brief 1991 comeback (Chris Columbus' Only the Lonely). Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne Setting any hint of modesty aside, Maureen O'Hara wrote in her 2004 autobiography (with John Nicoletti), 'Tis Herself, that “I was the only leading lady big enough and tough enough for John Wayne.” Wayne, for his part, once said (as quoted in 'Tis Herself): There's only one woman who has been my friend over the...

Claudette Colbert movies on Turner Classic Movies: From ‘The Smiling Lieutenant’ to TCM premiere ‘Skylark’ (photo: Claudette Colbert and Maurice Chevalier in ‘The Smiling Lieutenant’) Claudette Colbert, the studio era’s perky, independent-minded — and French-born — "all-American" girlfriend (and later all-American wife and mother), is Turner Classic Movies’ star of the day today, August 18, 2014, as TCM continues with its "Summer Under the Stars" film series. Colbert, a surprise Best Actress Academy Award winner for Frank Capra’s 1934 comedy It Happened One Night, was one Paramount’s biggest box office draws for more than decade and Hollywood’s top-paid female star of 1938, with reported earnings of $426,944 — or about $7.21 million in 2014 dollars. (See also: TCM’s Claudette Colbert day in 2011.) Right now, TCM is showing Ernst Lubitsch’s light (but ultimately bittersweet) romantic comedy-musical The Smiling Lieutenant (1931), a Best Picture Academy Award nominee starring Maurice Chevalier as a French-accented Central European lieutenant in...

There is no studio that times their releases more perfectly than Warner Bros. Around the end-of-year holidays there will be gift sets for films like “Elf” and “Willy Wonka.” Near Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, you can expect gift-appropriate releases.
And, of course, they always bring out the war movies and Westerns for Father’s Day in June. This year’s gift idea is a beauty, a massive 40-film, career-spanning set of films starring the legendary John Wayne. From 1932’s “Big Stampede” to 1976’s “The Shootist,” there’s a bit of everything for Wayne fans in here, but more for those who like war movies and Westerns.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
We don’t need to go through them all but highlights include “Rio Bravo,” “El Dorado,” “The Searchers,” “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance,” “True Grit,” “How the West Was Won,” “Fort Apache,” “Donovan’s Reef,” and “Hatari!” Some Wayne...

Imagine you went trick-or-treating. Knowing the area, you take a big empty bag. You go to six different houses, the ones with all the spooky decorations and lighted jack-o-lanterns. The ones where you know the owners love Halloween.
At the first house, the proprietor takes out a huge bag of candy, and as your eyes widen with gleeful expectation, they pull out one lousy piece, and drop it into your bag with a hollow thud.
As you go to the next five houses, this event repeats itself, and at the end of the night, your bag is dreadfully light; with only six small pieces from contributors that could’ve and...

Mostly a Paramount star, Claudette Colbert hasn't been a frequent presence on Turner Classic Movies — that is, apart from reruns of her relatively few movies at MGM, Warner Bros., and Rko. Unfortunately, TCM's "Summer Under the Stars" day dedicated to Colbert — Friday, August 12 — won't rectify that glaring cinematic omission. [Claudette Colbert Movie Schedule.] Despite the fact that dozens of Claudette Colbert movies remain unavailable — thanks to Universal, owner of the old Paramount movie library — TCM is only presenting one Colbert premiere, Ken Annakin's British-made 1952 drama The Planter's Wife / Outpost in Malaya, co-starring Jack Hawkins. Of course, one rarely seen movie is better than none, but still… Think The Wiser Sex, The Lady Lies, Manslaughter, Young Man of Manhattan, The Phantom President (in case it's lying in some vault somewhere), The Man from Yesterday, Misleading Lady, His Woman, Zaza, Secrets of a Secretary, I Met Him in Paris, Texas Lady, Practically Yours, Skylark, Private Worlds,...
