Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer are set to star in a dark Robin Hood retelling titled The Death of Robin Hood, set for production in February 2025. The film will see Robin Hood grappling with a life of crime and murder, offering a darker take on the legendary hero. Director Michael Sarnoski should bring a fresh and innovative approach to the story, similar to his past work on Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One.

Kingsman star Taron Egerton takes aim in the first official photos the new Robin Hood origins movie. The story of Robin Hood has been told for centuries and the new version is going to have to go a long way in making this movie stand out from the countless others that we've seen over the years. According to Robin Hood director Otto Bathurst, part of that fresh take will involve focusing on Robin Hood as a revolutionary, and not just a thief that has been shown many, many times over the last 800 years.
Entertainment Weekly has provided the first look at the set from the upcoming Robin Hood and it looks like, well, Robin Hood. Taron Egerton is Robin Hood, Jaime Foxx is Little John, Jamie Dornan is Will Scarlett, Eve Hewson is Maid Marian, and Ben Mendelsohn is once again playing a villain, but this time as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Richard Graydon, a stuntman who appeared in ten James Bond films, has died at the age of 92.
Graydon doubled for 007s George Lazenby and Roger Moore, and also had small acting roles in a number of the Bond films.
The former jockey's film career began in 1952's The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men, where he played one of the Merrie Men.
One of his most famous scenes in the Bond franchise was the cable car sequence from Moonraker, when Graydon doubled for Moore during a fight with the villainous Jaws.
In Octopussy, he was also shot out of a cannon at the circus, and further slid down a chain attached to an aerial tram which was dangling over an abyss in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
He also performed or coordinated stunts in Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, A Passage to India, The Man Who Fell to Earth...

That’s it, we’ve reached peak “shared universe” stupidity. Game over. Thanks for playing. Sony is poised to purchase a pitch for a Robin Hood riff called Hood for a whopping $1 million against $2 million. Why so much for an adaptation of well-worn territory, you ask? Heat Vision reports that the pitch involves positioning the film as a franchise starter with an Avengers-style universe revolving around Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men. You read that correctly. Sony is developing a rival to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the form of a Merry Men Universe featuring Friar Tuck, Will Scarlett, and of course Little John. More after the jump. The “Avengers-style universe” idea for a Robin Hood franchise is dumb in and of itself, but it gets better/worse. Heat Vision reports that the tone of Hood is described as being in the vein of Mission: Impossible and the recent Fast & Furious movies,...

With Sir Ridley and that grumpy Kiwi bringing us a brand new vision of Robin Hood this week, we thought it might be a good idea to travel back in time and take a look at past versions of the legendary outlaw.
The story of Robin Hood has been somewhat of a favourite in Hollywood. The heroic outlaw is the perfect example of classic English folklore, which seems to translate very well to the world of film. There have been literally hundreds of films and TV serials depicting the prince of thieves with lots of actors stepping into the role. It would be impossible to go through them all so instead let’s just focus on the more famous ones.

The story of Robin Hood has been told so many times that the myths surrounding the legendary figure are all too familiar by now. The new film about the outlaw hero infuses Great Britain.s rich history in order to add layers to the well-known story.
.Robin Hood. spans the years from the death of King Richard I in 1199 to the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215. In the middle of it all is a man in search of his destiny. Russell Crowe stars as Robin Longstride, an expert archer who helps King Richard I.s army against the French.
Crowe portrays his Robin Hood as a scarred hero with lots of emotional baggage. The actor has an open yet gritty face, that you will believe Crowe to be an accidental hero who was initially only interested in self-preservation.
Much like the good, old .Robin Hood. films, especially the beloved 1938 film starring Errol Flynn,...

Cannes -- If Robin Hood had never existed, Hollywood would have had to invent him.
In fact, whether or not there was an actual historical person behind the Robin Hood sung of in English ballads -- a matter of some debate -- the outlaw of Sherwood Forest owes his present-day celebrity to the big screen, beginning with Douglas Fairbanks' silent-era 1922 swashbuckler.
"America more or less hijacked Robin Hood at that point," says Thomas Hahn, a professor of English at the University of Rochester and Robin Hood scholar. "The movie took a local English folk hero and turned him into an international icon of popular culture."
Robin Hood's enduring appeal will be tested once again as the Festival de Cannes gets under way Wednesday with the world premiere of Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood," with Russell Crowe in the titular role of an archer in the employ of King Richard...

The final full-length trailer for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood has been officially released and it is truly epic. The teaser trailer and international trailer for the retelling of the story of the prince of thieves left viewers with mixed reactions and a lot of fair comparisons to Gladiator, the previous period piece epic that the pairing of Scott and star Russell Crowe worked together on.
While I was cautious and somewhat concerned about their take on Robin Hood from what we’ve seen before and while I certainly saw the close similarities in style and characters between Robin Hood and Gladiator, this new trailer has completely sold me as a must-see film of this summer.
To give you a hint; This Robin Hood trailer presents the film as a much larger scale epic with more story and character moments than anything you’ve seen before for this movie. Check...

The actor Richard Todd has died at the age of ninety.
Arguably one of the most respected actors to appear in the classic series, Richard Todd was a British film star well known for his heroic roles in such films as The Dambusters, D-Day the Sixth of June, and The Longest Day.
Born in Ireland, he was a war hero in his own right, being one of the first soldiers to parachute into occupied France on D-Day in 1944. He had a long and distinguished career in British stage and film. He was Oscar-nominated for the 1949 film The Hasty Heart, appearing alongside future American President Ronald Reagan. He won the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer for the same film. In 1957 he appeared in Yangtse Incident alongside William Hartnell.
