On Saturday, March 15, on a sunny afternoon, Disney’s “Snow White” finally had its big premiere at the Disney-owned El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. There was a brightly decorated pre-party with activities for kids. The stars of the movie, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, who had weathered respective controversies, showed up and even took pictures together, sometimes with director Marc Webb sandwiched in-between them. Instead of actual press, Disney had Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in 1989’s animated classic “The Little Mermaid,” asking questions on behalf of D23, the company’s in-house fan club. Legendary drive-in movie critic and movie host Joe Bob Briggs (who currently has a show on the Shudder streaming service called The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs) has a Patreon account called The Lost Drive-In, where they share the hosting segments from his days on MonsterVision, a TNT show he hosted from 1996 to 2000, and Joe Bob’s Drive-in Theater, which he hosted on The Movie Channel from 1986 to 1996… and one of the recently shared hosting segments might have unearthed a bit of interesting trivia about the 1989 Jean-Claude Van Damme classic Kickboxer! Specifically, it seems that the makers of Kickboxer might have, at one point, been planning to include a sister character and to put her in jeopardy.

Joe Bob wasn’t the only host presenting movies on The Movie Channel in the ’80s. One of his fellow hosts was Michele Russell, who also had some acting credits to her name.

Disney Parks Blog shared all the details for the upcoming event, so let's take a look at some of what you can expect.

Two new nighttime shows are coming for guests. The first is Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga, which debuts on March 28. This will be a projection show on the spires of Batuu, highlighting the story of the Skywalker Saga. The second is a new fireworks show called the Fire of the Rising Moons. Mixing in a selection from John Williams' iconic score, parkgoers can add to the experience with their MagicBand+ with "lights and ambient vibrations."

With the Fantastic Four coming to the MCU, it may be time to add them to the parks as well! And there's only one place perfect for the Fantastic Four!

The MCU without the Fantastic Four never felt right. After all, the Fantastic Four began the entire Marvel Universe when it debuted in 1961. The issue was always Fox holding the rights with a couple of mid-2000s movies and a horrible 2015 film.

The new movie is intriguing as it’s set in the 1960s with the first trailer showcasing a wonderful retro feel. It’s inevitable that Disney will push this in merchandising and the likelihood of a theme park tie-in of some sort.

In terms of what that could be, there’s really only one place for the Fantastic Four to appear at a Disney park: Tomorrowland.

Why the Fantastic Four is perfect for Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland has been a tricky place for Disney.

We've all heard of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which Marvel is currently in the process of trying to fix before it's too late. But if you happened to grow up in the 90s you might well be familiar with arguably the true forerunner to Marvel's juggernaut of a blockbuster franchise: The Frasier-verse. Ok, Dr. Frasier Crane might not be the real genesis of the gargantuan shared timeline erected by Marvel Studios over the past decade, but he was at the center of a television universe that is much larger than you might think.

Most fans will know that Kelsey Grammer debuted as the character on "Cheers," which ran for 11 seasons from 1982 until 1993, before starring in his own sitcom which also ran for 11 seasons before wrapping up in 2004. Likewise, most will know that he reprised the role in 2023 for the neither disappointing nor remarkable "Frasier" revival series for the Paramount+ streaming service.

Oh Cameron Diaz, how we missed you — your winning comedic timing, your commitment to every role. Diaz was the Mvp of many a film despite, sadly, rarely getting credit for her acting talents before her quiet retirement from the business in 2014. It’s been over a decade since she’s performed in a movie or a TV show, but now she’s finally returned with a Netflix action comedy co-starring Jamie Foxx. And although it’s wonderful to see her back in action in Seth Gordon’s “Back in Action,” the film fails to answer the one very important question the audience will definitely have.

Christian Juttner, a child actor in the 1970s who appeared in the films Return From Witch Mountain, I Wanna Hold Your Hand and The Swarm and on several TV shows, has died. He was 60.

Juttner died Nov. 29 of natural causes at his home in Yucca Valley, California, his daughter Aidan Juttner told The Hollywood Reporter.

Return From Witch Mountain, I Wanna Hold Your Hand and The Swarm appeared in theaters within five months of one another in 1978.

He portrayed Dazzler, one of the truants known as the Earthquake Gang, in the sequel Return From Witch Mountain, and in I Wanna Hold Your Hand, the feature directorial debut of Robert Zemeckis, he was the boy with a Beatles-style haircut who is determined to see the Fab Four perform on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964.

And in the Irwin Allen-directed disaster film The Swarm, Juttner portrayed a kid who suffers...

The Walt Disney Company loves few things more than its own lore, and its ability to promote that internal mythology is second to none. 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of Disneyland Park, the original theme park that helped Disney expand beyond its collection of animated feature films and shorts. Disneyland allowed guests to interact with beloved and iconic characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, as well as princesses like Snow White and Cinderella. The characters had essentially leapt off the screen, as had some of the most exciting and adventurous scenes in other well-known Disney titles. 70 years later, it seems like a fait accompli that Disneyland would be a rousing success; how could it not be? But Disneyland was far from a guarantee when it was under construction and when the studio had to market the theme park to a country full of people who didn't quite know what such a theme park even was.

The world of Oz is about to see a new spark in popularity. After two decades as one of the biggest musical hits in the world, Wicked is about to hit the big screen in part one of a two-part epic. It's a revisionist take on the property showing how Elphaba aka the Wicked Witch of the West, wasn't that bad a person and her friendship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

The movie is from Universal and seems set to become a major box office hit. Yet there was a time when it looked like Disney might get their toes into the property and the history of Disney and Oz is fascinating to see!

Disney+ is celebrating its five-year anniversary with a look ahead at next year’s slate.

The streaming service is running a two-minute sneak peek of its 2025 series ahead of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the R-rated box office smash that just joined the platform on Tuesday. Included in the preview is first footage from new seasons of “Andor,” “The Bear,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” It also featured first looks for “Alien: Earth,” the new Glen Powell series “Chad Powers,” “Daredevil: Born Again,” and Ellen Pompeo’s limited series about Natalia Grace, “Good American Family.”

Looking back at television in the early 1980s is an interesting experience. Cable TV was in its infancy, VCRs were barely used, and the overall tone was more conservative in many ways. The Emmy Awards grew up on March 7, 1955. For the first time, the ceremony was broadcast nationally on NBC. Steve Allen, the star of “The Tonight Show,” was the host of the 7th annual awards honoring the best of 1954 programming which was telecast from the Moulin Rouge nightclub on Sunset Boulevard.

One of the seminal live dramas of the 1950’s, Reginald Rose’s searing “12 Angry Men,” which aired on CBS “Studio One,” earned the most Emmys that evening winning with three. The taut drama about a jury of a dozen men decided the fate of a young man accused of murder starred Robert Cummings, Franchot Tone, Edward Arnold and Walter Abel. For years, only an incomplete kinescope of the show, which was adapted into the Oscar-nominated 1957 film, existed.

Actor Whitney Rydbeck, who was popular with horror fans for his unforgettable role in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, has died. He was 79 years old.

Per THR, Jason Lives director Tommy McLoughlin confirmed that Rydbeck passed away. The actor died on Monday due to complications from cancer while in hospice care in Chatsworth, California. McLoughlin also shared a tribute to Rydbeck on social media, including some screenshots of Rydbeck's role in the Friday the 13th franchise film along with the poster for Jason Lives.

McLoughlin shared a statement that said, "We lost not only a truly funny comedian and actorbut one of the most good hearted human beings Ive ever known. God Bless You and Rest in Peace Whitney Rydbeck. Our Loss is Heavens Gain."

Fred R. Krug, a producer, director and cinematographer who worked on such nature-focused TV programs as Animal World, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom and The Magical World of Disney, has died. He was 94.

Krug died June 4 of natural causes at his home in Solvang, California, his daughter, Vivian Krug-Cotton, told The Hollywood Reporter.

A pioneer in wildlife TV documentaries and travel shows, the Swiss-born Krug dined with Picasso, worked with The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl and danced with the Nicholas brothers.

He also collaborated with the likes of Gypsy Rose Lee, Louis Armstrong, Cornel Wilde, Jayne Mansfield, Dana Andrews, Jean Simmons, Agnes Moorehead, Art Linkletter and Tippi Hedren.

Krug’s career took him to the jungles of Peru, Ecuador and Brazil; to India, Zululand, South Africa and the Serengeti in Kenya; to the high country of New Zealand; and to the mountains of Italy.

In a recent video, a would-be seller brought some items from Disneyland to be evaluated and sold.

Rick and Chumlee interacted with a seller in Season 15, Episode 6 of Pawn Stars, and fans loved seeing them value some Disney cast member costumes so much they had to comment.

These cast members’ costumes are from the rides of the Tower of Terror, the Haunted Mansion, and the Pirates of the Caribbean, circa 1967-1969.

Rick shared that he loves Disneyland, calling it a “neat place…no place like it,” which fans picked up on the sentiment and shared how they felt.

The video that Pawn Stars shared on its YouTube channel is captioned, “The Gold & Silver turns into the happiest place on earth when a seller brings in some vintage Disneyland employee costumes.”

Immersion is the backbone of any Disney Parks experience. While other places don’t care if their costumed employees wear walkie-talkies or break character, Cast Members are a different, dedicated breed.

However, as Sfgate notes, trying to keep guests in a land of fantasy, adventure, or a galaxy far, far away isn’t easy. You can’t have Disney Princesses or Star Wars characters constantly checking their phones to see when it’s time for a break or shift rotation.

Pride Month is here! For those celebrating, the Walt Disney Company has rolled out several new PhotoPass and photo ops at nearly every park!

Wdwnt and Disney Food Blog report that several PhotoPass areas are now up at Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. While we had previously seen Disney merchandise sporting the traditional rainbow flag, the photo opportunities all feature the “Progress” Pride decore.

Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite is just a couple of months away! Tickets are going on sale very soon!

Magic Key holders will be able to get a two-day jump on getting tickets. They can reserve admission to Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite on April 9.

General admission for the event will open up on April 11 at 9 Am Pt. Regardless of your status as a guest, tickets will cost you $159 per person for ages three and up. Admission to Pride Nite does not require a theme park reservation.

2023 marks the 100th anniversary of Disney. The studio's releases this year have highlighted the company's rich history, most significantly with an original idea in Pixar's Elemental, an adaptation of a Disneyland ride with Haunted Mansion, and a live-action remake of the movie that kicked off their animation Renaissance, The Little Mermaid. Yet the studio has decided to close out its celebration year appropriately with the film that kicked off the studio's legacy: an animated film from the studio Walt Disney built.

That film is Wish, a movie centered on the shooting star that has been present in many Disney animated films. Guiding this film are producers Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones. Del Vecho won an Academy Award for producing Frozen (which was co-directed by Wish's co-director Chris Buck) and has produced other Disney animated classics like The Princess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh, and Raya and the Last Dragon.

A man leaped to his death from a parking structure at Disneyland on Wednesday, police said, marking the third such incident at the Anaheim park in less than a year.

A caller alerted police at about 9:30 p.m. that a person had jumped from the Pixar Pals structure on Magic Way. Officers found a man dead at the scene and began a suicide investigation. A spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s office said the county coroner’s office identified him as Jonah Edwards, 24. No other details were provided.

The death comes about nine months after an Arizona woman died after jumping or falling from the park’s Mickey and Friends structure. That incident came several weeks after a man in his 50s fell from the same six-level facility in December 2022. Anaheim Police have said both likely were suicides.

Robert Butler, a television director for the pilot shows for Star Trek, Batman, Hill Street Blues, and Moonlighting, has died. He was 95.

Butler’s family announced that the Emmy award-winning director died on Nov. 3 in Los Angeles.

Graduating from UCLA where he majored in English, Butler started his career in entertainment as an usher at CBS. His first credit as a director would come in 1959 when he directed an episode for the military comedy-drama Hennesey which starred Jackie Cooper and Abby Dalton.

Over the years, Butler was sought out to direct pilots for shows like Hogan’s Heroes (1965), the original Star Trek (1966), Batman (1966), the first mini-series on television The Blue Knight (1973), Hill Street Blues (1978), Moonlighting (1985), Sisters (1991) and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993).

While creating a theme park attraction after seeing a story on the big screen may seem like a fun job to tackle, going in the opposite direction - creating a box office smash hit film from a classic 1960s Disneyland ride - contains much higher stakes. For example, both of Disney's attempts at creating a Haunted Mansion-inspired movie never succeeded in a way that matched the iconic nature of the ride. Let's not even get started on The Country Bears or Mission to Mars. However, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl miraculously hit every right note, making it a gigantic box office hit and launching one of the most successful franchises ever. All based on some drunken animatronics in pirate's garb.
