Beverly Garland needed a better taller husband

Not a bad tough prison movie but as others have suggested, the good looking Beverly Garland deserved a taller husband...the short Perry Lopez was IMO miscast as the husband of Beverly although his acting was pretty good.

MAYBE THE DULLEST WB PRISON-PIC & THE WORST USE OF BEVERLY GARLAND & ALLISON HAYES

Talkie and Excruciatingly Slow WB Prison Movie.

The "Studio With a Conscience" made the "Big House" a Regular Feature in their Crime Films of the 30's-40's.

By the Mid-50's the Appeal was Limited and about Worn-Out and it Shows in this Borderline Bad, Stiff, Corn-Ball, Film.

Featuring a Wooden Performance from Perry Lopez.

Allison Hayes Plays a Neighbor to Lopez and Pregnant Wife Beverly Garland.

Hayes is in maybe 3 Scenes and Shows No Sex-Appeal while Garland gets to Act.

But is Relegated to a Whining Wife of Bookie Lopez.

Maybe the Worst Use of Hayes and Garland in Their Careers.

Even Hard-Boiled Inmates Ted de Corsia and Leo Gordon seem Bored.

As Does Kenneth Tobey as a Shrink.

It's a Life-Less Lament in the Eisenhower Era's Clueless Effort to be Socially Relevant .

Trying to Portray Street Criminals, the Judicial System, and Mental Health.

They Throw in an Expectant Married Couple for that Era's Mantra of Wholesomeness.

The Last 10 Minutes it Presents some Suspense and Action but its way Too Little way Too Late.

It's just a Dud All the Way Around.

    • Trivia
According to Beverly Garland, this film was not as good as it should have been because Perry Lopez was not a good actor. She felt there were many scenes where she performed well, but the scene had to be redone several times because Lopez could not properly hit his marks.
    • Goofs
Blatantly obvious use of rear-screen projection when Novack and Dr. Lewy are looking into the hospital's nursery. The angles of the window and corner in the nursery are way off and the babies appear much larger than they would normally be if there was an actual nursery set behind the glass.
